Chapter 1317: Chapter 1312: Truly a Great Filial Son
"They only pick on the weak ones," Tang Ye said disdainfully.
Su Sigui shook her head, speechless at Tang Ye’s provocative attitude, but it was true—with so many followers by his side, a normal person would have reigned supreme here!
These over a hundred Level 8 New Humans had enormous destructive power, comparable to a hydrogen bomb ready to explode at any moment—even more so! Under these circumstances, Cloud Gorge Base had no choice but to try everything to appease Tang Ye.
"We’re not far from the Ye family now, Ye Zhong should know we’re coming; he’s probably waiting for us."
Su Sigui looked ahead, slowly drawing the long knife in her hand, step by step, the killing aura gradually revealing itself.
Seeing this, the people around also drew their weapons. Xu Haishui and the others didn’t care about their identity as zombies; their arms transformed into blades of strange shapes, and they menacingly headed toward the Ye family.
Passers-by hurriedly made way, fearful of provoking them, and some collapsed on the ground in fear upon seeing Xu Haishui’s arms turn into blades.
"Zombies!"
"They are zombies!"
People on the scene suddenly panicked! Their faces horror-stricken as they fled the area, but they soon realized that Tang Ye and his group were targeting not them, but the Ye family.
"The Ye family is finished."
"What did they do? Why is Su Sigui only targeting the Ye family?"
Panic soon subsided, and people watched as Su Sigui and her group faded into the distance.
Outside the Ye family gate, more and more soldiers nervously watched the outside. Some couldn’t help but shake their legs. Soon, Tang Ye and his group appeared in front of them.
"Gentlemen..."
One of the soldiers mustered the courage to step forward. He had only said two words when a big burly man among the Powerhouses waved a long tendril, and it slashed through, cutting the gate and fences of both sides in half, blowing many soldiers away!
Blood instantly splattered across the front of the Ye family gate.
"Go away!"
The burly man roared, his voice thunderous, making people’s heads spin!
The soldiers who miraculously survived the strike hurriedly dove to the sides, not daring to stand in front of them.
Su Sigui glanced at them. No doubt about it, the Prairie Powerhouse didn’t bother with reasoning, which was somewhat absurd to her. But she didn’t want to say anything, as before this, the two major Superpowers of Cloud Gorge Base had never treated her with such consideration.
Inside the Ye family gate, Ye Zhong had been waiting for a long time. He hadn’t seen Li Henian and his group yet when his gate was already breached. Seeing this, his heart sank, sensing that something bad was going to happen.
Soon, he heard Li Henian’s voice. Next to him was the Mayor of Bright Moon City, Su Sigui!
His gaze swept over them; behind Li Henian and Su Sigui stood Level 8 zombies and other Level 8 New Human Powerhouses, all filled with murderous intent. On his side, there was only one Level 8 New Human—if a battle erupted, there was only one likely outcome for the Ye family: utter devastation.
"Is that guy Ye Zhong?" Tang Ye looked at Ye Zhong and asked Su Sigui, who nodded softly to confirm that it was indeed him.
After getting an affirmation, Tang Ye reached out his hand, but before he could speak, Su Sigui said, "Wait, don’t make a move just yet, leave Ye Zhong to his old man."
"Oh."
Tang Ye responded with an "Oh," lowering his hand. He’d been about to have Ye Zhong beaten to death but followed Su Sigui’s lead since she had spoken.
Su Sigui stepped forward, her gaze fixed on Ye Zhong whose eyes harbored complex emotions. If it weren’t for the current events, it would be hard for him to imagine that just two months ago, as members of Bright Moon City, they had skulked around Cloud Gorge Base like street rats, with their mayor nearly killed by Zhang Zhichang. But once Li Henian stepped in, the situation abruptly reversed, forcing the major powers of Cloud Gorge to tread carefully.
And his Ye family—if it had heeded Ye Changgong’s words, helping Bright Moon City during its most perilous time would have been a golden opportunity to forge good relations. But because of Ye Zhong, all of that was missed!
This overlord of South China, now returning after three years, was clearly here to help Su Sigui navigate her current predicaments. The scenes from earlier were telling. This realization only deepened Ye Zhong’s sinking feeling.
His gaze lingering on Su Sigui, after a while he managed to steady his feelings and asked in a deep voice, "Mayor Su, is there something you need?"
"Nothing in particular. Where’s that old man? I’m looking for him."
Su Sigui spoke in a calm tone without a hint of aggressiveness, her voice relaxing the tense nerves of those around her slightly.
Ye Zhong took a deep breath, his pounding heart gradually stabilizing. His eyes scanned the crowd, sweeping over all the men without lingering even for a fraction of a second, before finally glancing covertly at Li Henian. He looked at his just-turned-sixteen-year-old granddaughter and said, "Liuyi, lead the mayor and her party to your great-grandfather." Ye Zhong nodded without further ado.
The girl, named Liuyi by Ye Zhong, looked bewildered upon hearing this, glancing around in confusion before nodding and stuttering, "Oh... okay!"
Then, she approached Su Sigui, hesitantly saying, "Mayor Su... follow me?"
Su Sigui nodded, and Liuyi took the lead. However, Su Sigui didn’t move immediately. She pointed at Ye Zhong and said, "You, come with us too."
Ye Zhong sighed, unable to say a thing; he just nodded and followed them toward the back courtyard.
"Let’s go," Tang Ye said casually, hands in his pockets.
The group, imposingly, headed toward the back courtyard.
As one of Cloud Gorge Base’s largest families, the Ye family’s headquarters occupied a vast area. After a long and winding route, they followed Liuyi into a gloomy basement. Tang Ye, observing the dank surroundings, chuckled, "He really is a dutiful grandson."
His comment rendered Ye Zhong’s expression unnatural, but he said nothing. Ye Changgong was his paternal grandfather, and locking him up in such a place was a fact, no matter the explanation. But there was no choice: Ye Changgong was a Level 6 New Human, and typical confinement couldn’t hold him.
Thus, Ye Zhong had to keep Ye Changgong here, in a cell capable of restraining a Level 8 New Human.
