Chapter 1315: Chapter 1310 "Trashy Woman
These two choices were incredibly difficult yet also somehow easy to make.
Firstly, mobilizing all military units at Cloud Gorge Base to engage in a battle to the death with Li Henian’s subordinates and Su Sigui’s City of Bright Moon! The victor would be decided, but the issue was that while the City of Bright Moon seemed powerless to retaliate, it had infiltrated Cloud Gorge Base with numerous destabilizing elements. If Su Sigui wished, she could completely throw Cloud Gorge Base into chaos, turning it into a graveyard for everyone involved. This was also Su Sigui’s fallback plan should she manage to survive long enough.
This is why Cloud Gorge Base had dispatched over thirty Order Officers and more than ten Level 8 New Humans at all costs to hunt down Su Sigui. Only with her death would those unstable elements completely vanish. As for Henian, the hundreds of Level 8 Powerhouses under his command seemed to come out of nowhere. Such a large number of powerful beings would dominate anywhere, unable to remain unheard of.
They didn’t know what secretive powers lay behind Henian, and though they had their suspicions, in the current Chinese Continent, only a few truly powerful figures existed, but none beyond the level of the Four Great Overlords.
One disappeared after Henian had suddenly gone into hiding due to an unknown accident. Another became one of the people in this very conference room after failing to defend against an undead onslaught. The last one kept honestly to his own domain, sometimes doing good deeds and at other times bullying and dominating. For Cloud Gorge Base, the West China Overlord was no real threat.
The second choice was to do nothing and let the City of Bright Moon rebuild itself as before. Yet, Henian might join them to share the spoils, and at times when he felt irritated, he could simply start a war, burying the 27 million inhabitants of Cloud Gorge Base. No one doubted Henian’s ruthlessness. During his tenure in the United District, he never cared about the number of people; those who opposed him might as well lead to the slaughter of half the population of the United District—a classic egotist. This man did not embody the phrase "the law does not punish the majority" in any dictionary; in short, a very dangerous individual!
Between these two choices, the former was like flipping the table, allowing no one to have any cake. The latter, however, would turn those originally sharing the cake from two to possibly three or four individuals, halving the spoils anticipated by these proud superiors.
But there was no alternative, given the two options, the latter was clearly more prudent and rational. The City of Bright Moon aside, the newly established mysterious force of Henian wasn’t in Cloud Gorge Base, and risking a small amount of money into this gamble wouldn’t bother him even if he lost.
Under such circumstances, everyone in the conference room was in a passive situation!
In the past, it was always they who had made choices for others. Now, the tables had turned, and it was their turn to make a decision. Like them, no matter which option they chose, the outcome would indirectly or directly affect their own benefits.
But now they were also incapable of changing this predicament.
The conference room remained silent for a very long time. Nobody said anything. There were just those two options and no capacity to forge a third, unless one among them evolved to Level 9, strong enough to directly repel Henian and Su Sigui. Should a Level 9 appear, that person shouldn’t expect to protect his interests. Moreover, such a scenario was unlikely—as of now, they weren’t even sure if New Humans could evolve to Level 9.
Everyone waited, waiting for the elder at the head of the table to speak, for only his decision would be unanimously accepted.
About five or six minutes passed, and just as everyone was growing anxious, the old man finally spoke, "Let them in. Notify below, let the guards not obstruct them; as long as they don’t overstep bounds, leave them be."
The old man’s words confirmed that he had chosen the second option. Most people in the room breathed a sigh of relief, though a few were resentful, but dared not show it.
Drones followed Tang Ye and his group as they boarded vehicles and rapidly approached Cloud Gorge Base. In just over half an hour, they reached the main eastern gate of Cloud Gorge Base.
They had expected a fierce battle upon arrival, but there was none. The soldiers guarding the anti-corpse wall acted as if they couldn’t see Su Sigui at all, allowing them easy entry into Cloud Gorge Base. And Tang Ye finally saw with his own eyes the majestic fifty-meter-high wall!
Inside Cloud Gorge Base, the battle had ended, and life began to reemerge on the streets. People were surprised to see Su Sigui daring to enter Cloud Gorge Base, but no one stopped them and no Level 8 Powerhouses hid watching from the shadows—only drones loyally followed them.
"Look at the second vehicle, that’s... Li Henian!"
"Oh my god, it really is Li Henian!"
"The South China Overlord isn’t dead. He’s with Su Sigui—how many people are in those following vehicles?"
"I really want to know why Su Sigui dared to come back here."
"..."
After looking around, Tang Ye’s face carried a hint of a smile and he spoke with a cryptic note, "It seems, they’ve compromised."
"They’re not foolish. A compromise was the only option."
"That makes things much smoother then."
"Heh, I bet they’re not happy about it."
"Not happy? I can let them make the first move. This isn’t the Royal Court, I don’t need to act personally—just the people I brought with me are enough to destroy a base like Cloud Gorge, a simple task."
"Have you evolved to Level 9?"
"What do you think?"
"I hope so."
"If it’s really like you said yesterday, even if I were Level 9, it would be tight—I would choose to run first."
"Then I’ll have to work harder to alleviate some of your pressure." Su Sigui joked with Tang Ye, a rare touch of playfulness in her demeanor.
"Uh... that sounds like a you problem."
"That’s not a big deal, right? You’re a good person."
"You’re like one of those women who leave others high and dry after passing off problems, then toss out a thank-you note and don’t look back."
"Heh, as long as you’re happy."
"Speaking of which, you’re headed to the City of Bright Moon next, right?"
"No, I’m going to Ye family."
"The Ye family? What are you doing looking for the Ye family?"
"Looking for someone. An old man got dragged into this because of me."
"Hey, you’re quite loyal, they’re lucky to be with you."
With a chuckle, Tang Ye finished his sentence and then started to enjoy the view of Cloud Gorge Base’s streets from the car window.
