Chapter 1292: Chapter 1287: Interesting
When the crowd dispersed, the young boy with a sinister smile ran up to a man dressed in khaki and grinned, "Hey, are you really going?"
The man, seeing it was the boy, shuddered and hurriedly quickened his pace with the others, prompting bystanders to tut, "Tsk tsk, this guy is going to be conned again."
"Hey, hey, hey, don’t go!"
"Wait a minute!"
"What are you trying to do? I’m telling you, I don’t believe what you say; you’re just a liar."
"Ah, I won’t deceive you this time. Going to Cloud Gorge Base is very dangerous. Think it over carefully."
"With so many people, how could I possibly be in danger?"
"What if you’re unlucky? Cloud Gorge Base has many strong entities. What if you get caught by yourself? The consequences..."
Song Muyuan shuddered again and then saw the young boy continue smiling, "I’m not like you. I am even stronger. It’ll be safer for me there. For safety’s sake, I, the young master, have decided to sacrifice myself to keep you safe and sound in the Royal Court while I embark on the adventure. How about that, I am not lying to you."
Song Muyuan opened his mouth but before he could speak, he heard the boy say, "Alright, since you’re not speaking, I’ll take your silence as consent. Tomorrow, I’ll go find Kano Jie, have her transform me into your likeness, and then you won’t have to go. You should thank me quick!"
Song Muyuan’s eyes glazed over for a moment, and he mumbled a thank you. When he shivered and came back to his senses, the mischievous kid had already run off with a joyful stride.
After the crowd dispersed, those called out quickly assembled on another side. Xu Haishui checked the time; it was already 3 AM. There were now one hundred and fifteen of them, each a Level 8 Powerhouse. Despite waiting since nearly noon at the entrance of Khan’s palace, the physical condition of Level 8 Powerhouses allowed them to endure manifold without needing sleep.
Once the landing point in China was confirmed to be Jichun City, H Province, everyone began their preparations.
On the other side, Tang Ye went to his resting place. Just as he was about to lie down, his phone rang unexpectedly. At first, he thought someone was messaging him to report on work, but upon opening it, he saw a push notification, and the summary was quite intriguing:
"Other side of Earth, the Zombie King sinisterly smiles, faint-hearted beware."
"This video is responsible for scaring 150 people to death, please watch cautiously."
Curious, Tang Ye swiped and immediately clicked on the notification.
The next second, his phone switched to another interface and started playing the video. The first scene was at a gathering point. The person filming was assembling with a group of soldiers somewhere. The nearby soldiers, seen from the side, were clearly not Chinese, with blonde hair and blue eyes—facial features typical of those from Lan Ou. Besides these, some were black. Uniformly, these people were in full gear, fully armed, and ready for combat.
From this scene, it was clear that the person filming was a soldier and that the other soldiers seemed to wear a black item on their chests, which Tang Ye knew to be cameras.
In front of the soldiers, a foreign-looking man who appeared to be an officer held a megaphone and spoke something in English that Tang Ye could not understand. However, there was no excessive chatter—it lasted about two minutes. Then the soldier shooting the video ran along with the others toward the zombie barrier wall.
Beyond the zombie barrier wall lay an endless horde of zombies. A large number of them, appearing to be at least Level 6 Powerhouses, rushed toward a certain location with significant purposefulness. Amidst the zombie tide, Tang Ye spotted several Level 8 zombies. Yet none of the Level 6 or higher Powerhouses—including the dozens of Level 8 Powerhouses—attempted to stop the Level 8 zombies’ assault.
On the video, a comment scrolled by, "Why are there a few more minutes?"
Then, Tang Ye swiped his finger and turned off the comments, which were distracting from the video experience.
Glancing at the progress bar below the video, it extended over two and a half hours by a few minutes. Tang Ye frowned slightly. Though time was something he had in abundance, he had prepared to watch a movie.
As the progress bar crept forward, Tang Ye anticipated the terrifying scene. At twenty-three minutes, the Level 8 zombies, unobstructed, violently shattered the protective shield encasing Sanctuary City. The shield, which appeared to lack transparency but likely possessed incredible defensive qualities, did not hold for long—less than eight minutes—before it shattered.
Regarding the zombie barrier wall, it could not withstand the assault. At the moment the protective shield shattered, a Level 8 zombie breached the barrier. The soldiers atop were slaughtered by the high-level zombies, their bodies torn apart on the spot. Blood scattered like exploding fireworks, splattering the scene with a grisly, bone-chilling sight that unsettled the primal fears of the viewers!
The soldier who filmed the video began to retreat with others beneath the zombie barrier wall as the Level 8 zombies climbed up to slaughter his comrades. They aimed to fall back to a second line of defense.
Tang Ye chuckled as he watched, figuring out why no Powerhouses confronted these high-level zombies. Sanctuary City had done something clever yet foolish—it was because amidst this attacking zombie tide, there was a Level 9 Zombie King!
Consequently, all the Powerhouses above Level 6 at Sanctuary City aimed to kill the Zombie King first. Their mistake lay in their lack of understanding of the capabilities of a Level 9 Powerhouse. Upon reaching Level 9, they saw the world in a completely unknown and unseen color, thus they could utilize a bizarre ability.
Tang Ye knew of this ability; it seemed every Powerhouse that evolved to Level 9 possessed it. Against a Level 9, if you had only Level 8 Powerhouses, the more of them there were, the lower the chance of killing a Level 9 zombie, as those Powerhouses would merely become nourishment or tools for the Zombie King.
In the distance, where they battled the Zombie King, the king did not seem to use that ability. Instead, he killed them one by one as if teasing ants, effortlessly, bit by bit leading them to despair!
Thirty-six minutes into the video, the soldier filming was killed by a high-level zombie, with parts of his body scattered onto the street, as if an audience’s eye were observing the unfolding scenes.
As numerous zombies passed, the viewpoint shifted sporadically. Eventually, Tang Ye felt bored, this two-hour progress bar staying mostly on the same view was too much. He had seen too many zombies and had grown tired of the sight. Then he reactivated the comments, and as expected, a comment scrolled by.
"To save that precious hour of your life, please jump to the final five minutes."
Tang Ye grinned and dragged the progress bar to the final five minutes. The static viewpoint finally moved as a hand lifted it—an attractive Western youth dressed elegantly, almost gentlemanly. If not for the irradiated species crawling beside him, many might consider him very-friendly-looking, but he was not!
Tang Ye easily guessed the young man’s identity—the Zombie King of North America!
The video concluded as the youth’s eyes seemed to penetrate the screen and his mouth curved into a smirk. At that moment, the comments on the video significantly decreased.
"Interesting."
