I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1275 - 1270 Ha Zhen
Chapter 1275: Chapter 1270 Ha Zhen
Among zombies that evolved to Level 8 or Level 7, their intelligence would not fall below that of humans or would be close to human level. Whether they were former or latter, they all had cognitive abilities.
While humans of Level 8 primarily differed in their limited control over their own flesh and blood, this allowed them to move their "Evolution Crystals" to places less likely to attract hunters’ attention.
After reaching Level 8, they might even be able to move their Evolution Crystals more freely. Consequently, Level 8 zombies were very difficult to kill. More crucially, these zombies would decisively choose to flee when they realized the situation was not in their favor and employed tactics to hunt their prey!
This meant that anyone wishing to hunt a Level 8 zombie needed to prepare completely, including being mentally ready for the possibility of being killed by the target. Just this consideration was enough to discourage most individuals. As such, in her past life, and perhaps even at this stage in her current life, slaying a Level 8 zombie could catapult an unknown person to overnight fame. The offensive organs harvested from a Level 8 zombie were even harder than weapons forged from 14th-grade H steel! Moreover, those organs still held certain properties even after being removed, such as self-healing. They just required consuming more flesh or Evolution Crystals, which were not a concern for high-tier New Humans capable of easily affording such resources. To some extent, the weapons fashioned from the organs of a Level 8 zombie could be said to be indestructible, making them the most coveted combat companions for everyone!
In her past life, she had led the strength of the entire Hall of Valor in hunting a Level 8 zombie. In the battle, eleven Level 8 Powerhouses of the Hall of Valor took on the zombie horde head-on and tore through to directly confront the Level 8 zombie. Ultimately, each of the eleven suffered serious injuries. While there were no fatalities, they found the zombie’s Evolution Crystal only after nearly pulverizing it into mincemeat. At that time, the purple hue swirling around the Level 8 Evolution Crystal was the most beautiful color Su Sigui had ever seen!
Because of this battle, the Hall of Valor’s status within Cloud Gorge Base greatly increased. And as the highest contributor, she had forcefully claimed two spine blades from the back of the Level 8 zombie. Unlike humans who have obsessions for symmetry, the zombies did not; therefore, the two spine blades, while unmatched in sharpness, were not identical—one resembled a knife, and the other a sword. One of the Powerhouses was even injured during the hunt, his arm crushed by one of the blades!
Among the two blades, one was knife-like, the other sword-like. Humans who strived for perfect symmetry found it difficult to accept this. Initially, Su Sigui felt the same way, disliking the asymmetry of her trophies. Since she had gained the most, however, she could hardly complain and instead made do with them. That lasted five years, from the eighth year of the apocalypse until she was torn to shreds by a beam of black light.
She had also grown fond of fighting with one blade in each hand, maximizing her combat potential. Ultimately, her prowess was forever immortalized in the statue erected in her honor in the Hall of Valor.
Yet ironically, in her life of ten years since the apocalypse restarted, she had become a Super Power Leader capable of contending with the two great forces of the Hidden Dragon Council of the Judgement Association. Despite commanding over thirty Level 8 New Humans, in this life, she had not succeeded in killing the same Level 8 zombie from her past life. Although they had killed three Level 8 zombies, she had not acquired the weapons she preferred.
Thus, she continuously wielded swords forged from the highest melting grades of 14th-grade H steel as her weapons.
Although she had considered using other types of weapons, Su Sigui had grown accustomed to only having a knife and a sword on her person. With these two weapons in hand, she could fully exploit her combat skills’ variability.
When the roller door to the weapon shop opened, several people rushed in, but they were quickly shooed out by the shop owner.
"Out, out, we’re not open for business today."
"Ha Zhen, not taking money is not your style," one of the people who were kicked out complained, to which Ha Zhen retorted, "How could I not want to earn money? Come back the day after tomorrow."
"Alright alright, the next day then. Just remember to keep that bone-spur knife for me."
"The Khan is hosting a grand banquet at his palace tomorrow at ten o’clock; Ha Zhen is likely getting prepared for it."
"Here, only Ha Zhen is qualified to attend. If I could see the Heavenly Khan, it’d be the highlight of my life."
"Brother Ha Zhen, what does the Heavenly Khan actually look like?"
Once the weapon shop’s door was opened, many people gathered around. When they spoke of the so-called Heavenly Khan, their faces showed admiration similar to the kind of expression members of the Zombie God Cult showed when talking about the Zombie King.
Ha Zhen didn’t say a word. He seemed to be habitually grim, and the people around him had grown accustomed to such behavior from Ha Zhen. But they weren’t afraid of him; many liked to tease him, though they soon left, knowing Ha Zhen wasn’t the type for fun.
Passersby would glance into the shop. Clearly, Ha Zhen’s weapon shop enjoyed a significant reputation, and Tagu seemed to know of this man as well. He said, "The Khan holds a banquet every month, inviting many strong individuals. Ha Zhen is one of them. He holds a high position in the Royal Court and greatly venerates the Khan. He is one of the Khan’s most loyal followers."
"Despite how he looks, he rarely gets angry. Anyone can joke with him or come to him for help. If he likes you enough, he might assist you, but never kill anyone in front of him—anyone! Otherwise, no matter your relationship with him, he wouldn’t hesitate to take your head to the Khan..."
The crowd dispersed, and Su Sigui saw Ha Zhen’s appearance. He had a very rugged face, with his eyebrows being a distinct feature, simply two triangles that from a distance looked like two large black dots, quite comical. But the eyes beneath those brows showed not a hint of emotion as they focused seriously on the task at hand. His attire was also the most unconventional.
In the northern climate, temperatures often sat in the single digits, with the summertime peak around fifteen degrees—very cold. Hence, locals wore thick cotton jackets, but Ha Zhen wore only a thin black tank top, seemingly impervious to the cold, without a shiver.
He had just opened the shop door and was pouring a basin of dark red wastewater into the gutter outside the door.
