I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1269 - 1264: The Legendary Imperial Building
Chapter 1269: Chapter 1264: The Legendary Imperial Building
Everyone was afraid of such a day when the Zombie King struck, causing one massacre after another. No base had been able to hold out successfully under the Zombie King’s lead. This fear had become a dark cloud hanging over everyone’s heart.
Although since the beginning, life on the Chinese Continent had been fairly normal aside from occasional zombie attacks in some areas, most of which were successfully defended. Of course, some unfortunate bases were exceptions.
However, this didn’t cause fear among the people.
As long as no Level 9 zombies appeared, even if there were one or more Level 8 zombies among the horde, the bases’ mutual support usually meant they had a good chance of withstanding the onslaught.
Because of this, the Chinese Continent was the place where most of humanity lived. The combined population of the bases had reached 800 million, an amount ten times greater than that of all other continents combined.
Yet even so, people did not forget that there was a Zombie King in China as well. This Zombie King rarely appeared and seemed quite humane, only striking when provoked. In some remote areas of the Chinese Continent, many churches were dedicated to worshipping him.
Due to these churches, when many spoke of this Zombie King, they didn’t just refer to it as "it," they used divine titles, like "He".
But such an existence was hardly tolerable. The most taboo thing for humans was having their lives entirely controlled by other beings or creatures. No one could predict when the Zombie King might go berserk. If he did something harmful to humanity, it would be unstoppable, and, like other continents, the Chinese Continent could quickly be emptied of humans, turning it into a wasteland.
It was comforting to think that since the disappearance of the United District, the Zombie King also seemed to have vanished with it, and hadn’t reappeared—although the likelihood of his death was extremely low. It was noted during the Jiuge Incident that when an anti-life detector was used on the Chinese Zombie King, the device displayed an anomalous reaction.
While no one thought much of this at the start, a few years later in the Burning Sands Continent, a similar phenomenon occurred. About a year and a half ago, someone used an anti-life detector on a Zombie King there, which also exceeded the predicted data. At that time, everyone knew that the Buddha of the Abyss in the Burning Sands Continent had reached Level 9. When a detector’s threshold was exceeded, it would show such anomalous results, reinforcing the fears about the Zombie King’s power first noted during the Jiuge Incident. With such formidable power, how could he possibly be dead?
And while some prepared extensively to hunt Level 8 zombies, guessing where a zombie might hide its Evolution Crystal in its body, the chances of success were very slim.
Not to mention a Zombie King of Level 9—far stronger than any Level 8 zombie!
They had traveled nearly ten thousand kilometers from Cloud Gorge Base, entering a region completely outside of China—who knew if a Zombie King existed here. If indeed there wasn’t a single human in this entire area of the great Russian lands, relying on the sensing abilities of the Zombie King, he could rapidly detect their presence. If that happened, they were doomed.
Aside from a regular person, although there were five Level 8 New Humans, facing a Level 9 zombie, they shouldn’t harbor any illusions—they’d be slaughtered like chickens!
If they encountered a benevolent Zombie King, perhaps they could chat for a bit and hope his intelligence found them interesting enough to let them go. Of course, this had happened before, but if he wasn’t in a good mood, it would be swift and brutal.
With this conversation, another layer of dread was added to the hearts of the other three, even Su Sigui, who had experienced two lifetimes, couldn’t help but show even more gloom on her face. Time was drawing near, and despite her best efforts, she still faced the same block as in her previous life—stuck at Level 8 and unable to advance further!
She was utterly disheartened, pinning all her hopes on those few who might evolve to Level 9, but like her, they had no real hope!
How could she be content with this? She knew all too well how dangerous the world was. Not to forget the active Level 9 Zombie Kings on land and the sea!
Land only made up thirty percent of Earth, and the remaining seventy percent—covered by oceans—possibly housed many terrifying beings. She couldn’t just watch herself gradually become part of the ordinary; to her, the ordinary were Level 8 New Humans!
Level 8 New Humans might sound strong, but they couldn’t change the overall situation—they would merely be secondary to Level 9 Powerhouses.
And without Level 9 Powerhouses, humanity would be wiped out!
Due to her arrival, the future Level 9 New Humans indirectly lost their lives; due to her arrival, the zombie horde attacking Cloud Gorge Base more than doubled; due to her arrival, the fall of the United District decreased from two days to one! She became increasingly anxious. She did not know why she had come back to this world—was it to make things worse?
Please, things were already bad enough!
By now, the long-standing feud between City of Bright Moon and Hidden Dragon Council of the Judgement Association, two major forces, had erupted. Numerous enforcers were mobilized, advancing relentlessly towards City of Bright Moon!
This was a critical time. However, if people knew the truth, she would be hailed as the greatest person for humanity, because at the brink of life and death for City of Bright Moon, she chose to abandon it, taking away its top four powerhouses. This would only worsen the situation for City of Bright Moon, quickly leading to the collapse of the region’s Level 8 New Humans, until City of Bright Moon was entirely uprooted from Cloud Gorge Base!
All for one reason—a hope for humanity. She hadn’t forgotten the pact she made with Li Henian, the man deeply connected to the Zombie King. All her hopes now rested on Li Henian.
But, no news of Li Henian’s existence was anywhere to be found. After a few days of reflection, Su Sigui set her sights on the legendary Northern Empire.
Because in her previous existence, during the scarce appearances of the Zombie King, he had appeared in the North the second time. The trail pointed straight to the distant North!
No one knew for sure if the Northern Empire existed—it was a term spoken by refugees escaping from Russia, who themselves had never actually seen it.
