I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1235 - 1230: Be Mentally Prepared
Chapter 1235: Chapter 1230: Be Mentally Prepared
The mysterious figure had now arrived at a seemingly ordinary residential area, yet the surroundings resembled a slum of the United District, filled with piles of garbage that hadn’t been cleaned out for a long time. Even before the Apocalypse, this complex was never considered upscale, having been established in the ’90s, it now appeared decrepit and dilapidated.
Tang Ye guessed that this place probably belonged to the outer regions of the United District, which could be inferred from the other buildings around, some even draped in tents—several spots bore the scars of battles fought by higher-level fighters.
In such districts, communities like this one were usually overcrowded. The residents were a mixed bag, with gambling, brawling, and low-level eroticism rampant throughout—the epitome of decadence and ruin.
Similarly, such places also witnessed the emergence of many powerful youths.
The mysterious figure slowed down his pace, no longer sprinting but stepping into the neighborhood one by one. The scene inside was slightly different from what Tang Ye had imagined; there seemed to be barely anyone around, but there were plenty of signs of human habitation, as if the original residents had vanished due to the circumstances.
After a short while, the mysterious figure entered a building corridor, dragging a blood cocoon behind him carelessly. The cocoon occasionally scraped against the walls, causing flakes of green paint to fall off in large amounts.
With each floor ascended, Tang Ye inside the blood cocoon counted off a number; upon reaching four, the mysterious figure entered an unlocked apartment.
Walking into a bedroom void of windows, Tang Ye could see through external eyes that there were several people lying inside, including Li Xiaoyan, Huang Quanjiu, Jiang Chentong, Dai Changhao, Chen Zhou’an, and an unfamiliar woman whom Tang Ye felt he recognized but could not place, amounting to six people total.
However, this guy had kidnapped more than six people. Where were Ruan Chao’en, Xu Changchi, and Hatred?
The eye exposed outside the blood cocoon blinked, and then, wrapped up within it, Tang Ye heard the mysterious figure say, "Get in."
The next second, a force emanated from the figure, flinging the blood cocoon containing Tang Ye inside. The blood strands wrapped around Tang Ye unraveled rapidly like a ball of wool being pulled apart until Yu Hangwu’s appearance was revealed.
"Stay here and wait, I’ll come for you later."
The mysterious figure said this to Tang Ye, unclear as to what he might be planning next.
The blood strands that had enveloped Tang Ye were not entirely drawn out. A single strand was left entwined around his hands and feet. The strands were fine yet incredibly tough, and even a Level 7 fighter might find it challenging to break free.
For Level 6 New Humans, the idea of escaping was unthinkable, as could be deduced from Huang Quanjiu and the others’ condition.
After saying this, the mysterious figure turned and left the room.
The door closed with a "bang," leaving behind a bare room and several people. The others, such as Li Xiaoyan, glanced briefly at "Yu Hangwu," furrowing their brows slightly.
"Little Wu, how did you end up here too?" Dai Changhao asked, with Tang Ye looking towards him, the latter’s face marked with unmistakable fatigue and a sickly pallor, indicating that the group had undergone torture and been starved for days in this place.
Tang Ye was about to reveal his actual identity but thought better of it, managing a wry smile instead. "Ah, don’t even mention it. Ever since that guy kidnapped you, everyone at the Peace Party has been on edge, and few dare to venture out alone. Because of this, some troublemakers have started causing problems, some of which fall within my jurisdiction, so I had to deal with them. Things were fine until a few days ago, but today, my luck ran out; I ran into that wretch."
"I see." The expressions on their faces didn’t change much; none seemed excited by Yu Hangwu’s arrival, and the atmosphere quickly fell silent.
Tang Ye noticed that, among those present, except for Chen Zhou’an and Li Xiaoyan, who maintained their composure, the other three seemed troubled, exhibiting nearly identical expressions as if they all faced the same difficult situation.
But why were Li Xiaoyan and Chen Zhou’an so unruffled?
After a while, Dai Changhao offered reassurance, "Little Wu, don’t worry. We’re not in immediate danger here for the time being. I just hope that..." Dai Changhao paused mid-sentence, a detail that Tang Ye keenly caught, causing an unsettling feeling to surge within him.
"Sigh..." Dai Changhao sighed deeply, continuing, "I just hope our chairman and the others can find this place soon."
Tang Ye didn’t speak, not even a murmur of response, but his eyes sharpened as Dai Changhao finished speaking.
He had an inkling of what might be troubling the others, a heavy burden weighing on their hearts.
For Yu Hangwu, Dai Changhao had been a guide in the Apocalypse, or a ’big brother’ if using the pre-Apocalypse terminology, occupying a significant place in Yu Hangwu’s heart. Likewise, to Dai Changhao, Yu Hangwu was one of the most trustworthy individuals; thus, comforting oneself in such a manner didn’t seem out of place.
Another minute or two went by, during which Dai Changhao and Huang Quanjiu kept exchanging glances, leaving Tang Ye puzzled.
"What are they up to?" Tang Ye wondered internally.
Chen Zhou’an quickly expressed his impatience across from them, "Come on, Dai, just tell him already. After all, you’re the closest to him. If you don’t tell him now, he’ll find out later anyway, and I’m afraid it’ll hit him even harder then."
Dai Changhao shook his head, refusing to speak, and then Huang Quanjiu stood up, hopped over to Tang Ye, sat down with a plop, and placed a hand on Tang Ye’s shoulder. "Little Wu, I need to tell you something only we know about. You need to be prepared."
"What is it?" Tang Ye feigned curiosity.
Huang Quanjiu paused, then said, "Our chairman, including the two Vice Presidents Xu and Vice-President Tang, as well as Gong Xiao, Liang Hanyang, and Song Muyuan, are all zombies—high-level zombies at that! They’ve disguised themselves as humans, established our Peace Party... Later, that person will take you out and tell you the same thing, giving you two options. I hope you’ll make the same choice as us."
After speaking, Huang Quanjiu watched Yu Hangwu, trying to gauge his reaction. Strangely, there was no sign of shock or surprise on his face, just a calm gaze.
"You..."
