Chapter 1233: Chapter 1228 "The Hunter" Appears
Yu Hangwu, who was also Tang Ye, got up from the sofa and stretched his body before heading outside.
"Go back, I’ll handle it."
Having said this, Tang Ye began to sprint towards the Yajin Exchange Zone with his non-human speed.
Like a few days earlier, as soon as Tang Ye arrived, the dozen or so troublemakers inside started to flee in panic. Following the cheer of the surrounding staff, all of these aggressors were laid out flat on the ground.
Tang Ye scanned the familiar faces and eliminated them from consideration, eventually locking on several unfamiliar ones. He attacked with deadly moves right away, and several people fell dead on the spot.
As for the actors, while they looked miserable on the outside, they weren’t severely injured. After a few hours of rest, they’d be lively as dragons the next day.
"Brother Wu, you’ve finally arrived." After Tang Ye dealt with the situation, a few injured soldiers came up to him, visibly relieved.
"Is everyone okay?"
"We’re okay."
The soldiers shook their heads. Tang Ye gave them a glance; their injuries were minor or serious, with some only suffering superficial wounds, while others lay on stretchers, unable to move. It seemed those with ill intentions who had joined the fray had attacked with lethal force.
But that also meant their deaths weren’t unjustified.
"Alright, you guys go back first and recuperate for a few days. In the meantime, we’ll have someone else fill in for you."
"Yes, Brother Wu." Several soldiers with serious injuries struggled to their feet to thank Tang Ye, then were carried off by others.
Tang Ye looked around, his eyes unable to hide a hint of disappointment. It seemed another uneventful day had passed, and he was still anticipating that person to show up so he could properly deal with him!
"Brother Wu, let’s escort you back. Staying here too long could be dangerous."
A soldier approached Tang Ye with concern, and Tang Ye was aware of what they were worrying about—the individual notorious for abductions.
Tang Ye just shook his head, appearing completely relaxed and unworried.
"It’s fine. I’ve been coming out for so many days in a row now without any mishap. Why worry? That guy is probably scared off by Marshal Zhang’s fearsome reputation by now." As he spoke, Tang Ye didn’t forget to boast a little about himself. Wearing the guise of Yu Hangwu, the soldiers found nothing unusual about it; after all, this man held one of the supreme powers in the Central United District, and people had nothing but blind trust in his ability.
After chatting idly with the soldiers for a while, Tang Ye, accompanied by a few others, headed back to the Central United District. As he was leaving, he muttered under his breath, "Another boring day."
Though Tang Ye spoke softly, two Level 5 New Human Soldiers nearby still heard a bit of what he said, their faces revealing an odd expression.
The Brother Wu before them acted as if he were almost disappointed not to be abducted. Although he had been cautious at first when he started coming out, it had been nearly a week, and the abductor had yet to appear. It was possibly for this reason that Brother Wu wasn’t as worried anymore.
The journey from the Yajin Exchange Zone back to the Central United District was quite long, and Tang Ye chose to take a car. Watching from the back seat as the buildings rushed past the window before disappearing from view, they hadn’t even reached the halfway point when Tang Ye and the few soldiers around him suddenly sensed an indescribable feeling enveloping them.
It was hard to explain this feeling to someone who had never experienced it—it was like something locking onto you in an instant or the sensation of someone’s gaze, eerily accurate like an ordinary person feeling eyes on their back.
At that moment, Tang Ye’s casual demeanor disappeared as he tensed up, and two large words shot through his mind.
"They’re here!"
Tang Ye’s muscles tensed, and a violent aura unique to zombies burst from his eyes.
"Brother Wu, there’s trouble! You might have been targeted!" shouted a soldier from the passenger seat, panic clear in his voice.
"F*ck!"
Two or three seconds after the soldier’s outcry, the driver suddenly yelled out in alarm. The car swerved sharply, turning ninety degrees to block the middle of the road. The scenery flew by Tang Ye’s vision; the soldiers didn’t see it, but he did. In the split second before this scene unfolded, a figure had suddenly appeared in front of the car, causing the driver to swerve to avoid the collision.
Wearing a black hoodie and dark, worn jeans, this was exactly as Ah Fu had described.
"Brother Wu! Run! He’s after you!" the soldiers yelled at Tang Ye, urging him to escape. The driving soldier, a Level 5 New Human, might not have the strength of a Level 6, but his reflexes were swift. He quickly restarted the car to make a getaway.
But as they tried to leave, the mysterious figure already appeared in front of the vehicle, moving as quickly as a flash.
"Trying to escape?"
The figure spoke rhetorically, then grabbed both sides of the car’s hood, and with a powerful pull, shifted its direction towards the street ahead.
"Damn it! Take this!" the soldiers weren’t about to let someone manipulate them without a fight. The co-pilot and another soldier next to Tang Ye in the backseat took out a heavy-duty laser weapon about a meter long, aimed at the mysterious person, and without a second thought, pressed the fire button.
The laser beam quickly concentrated at the tip of the gun. The next second, with a hiss, a thick python-like laser beam shot out!
Nevertheless, the mysterious person was no easy opponent. Dodging the laser by swiftly moving aside, the beam, pulsating with searing heat, almost grazed his body before slamming into the street behind him.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Flames raged and spread in the area ahead, making the air intolerably hot. The laser had failed to harm the mysterious figure, only succeeding in forcing him back more than ten meters.
"I thought the events of the past few days would keep you all hiding inside, afraid to come out. I didn’t expect you to appear so frequently while I was unaware. What should I say to that?"
