Chapter 1192: Chapter 1187: String Our Hearts Together
"Corpse dragon... the corpse dragon has come in!"
"Requesting support! The corpse dragon has entered the Industrial Area, a Level 6 undead creature, with a body length exceeding three hundred and twenty meters, and an estimated diameter of more than six meters. The disparity in numbers is too great, if this continues, severe consequences will follow... *pant* requesting Sky City Command to dispatch support!"
"Move quickly!"
"Requesting support! Requesting support!"
"Please clearly state your current situation."
"Go to hell!"
"Industrial Area requesting support, a Level 6 undead creature has entered the Industrial Area, with a numerical comparison of 1:32.71. The gap is too large, our situation is dire, please provide rapid support."
"Let’s go! Forget about it!"
One soldier after another hurried past the doctor, their frantic steps causing the exoskeleton combat armor to crash onto the ground with "bang, bang, bang" sounds. To the doctor’s ears, these were not the noises of chaos, but a symphony that filled every corner of this world of the living.
Not knowing how much time had passed, a woman approached him. Under the dim light, he saw her reveal a tragic smile, her eyes devoid of any emotion.
The doctor struggled to lift a hand, an action that seemed to have exhausted all the strength he had in his life. Just as he managed to lift it, he violently spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Wei’er... I’m so sorry..."
The other did not speak, silently walking over. The intelligence that was once present on the girl’s face had disappeared, leaving only the lifelessness of a walking corpse. Step by step, she approached the doctor and then collapsed softly into his arms. The doctor held her tight, refusing to let go.
Their figures intertwined in the shadows, creating the most poignant image. This might have been their most mundane moment in the time before the Apocalypse.
But in these apocalyptic times, such normalcy was destined not to last long. Soon, a figure, limping and displaying a crazed smile, entered.
"You little bastard, still want to kill me, huh? Is this to avenge your little girlfriend, hehehe~ with the likes of you? Die!"
The figure held a three-meter-long spear in his hand, the tip glinting with flecks of cold light.
His luck was scarce; when the corpse dragon had suddenly burrowed up from the ground, he was merely struck by its scaled body, not devoured directly by the dragon like his other companions.
But thinking about the doctor’s actions and the strange expression he had shown back in the medical facility, he almost knew what it was all about. This girl was probably very important to the doctor, and he had violated her; if she were not the most important person to him, he wouldn’t have been able to endure.
He also admired the doctor’s courage. A Level 4 New Human actually trying to kill him, a Level 6 New Human—although admirable, it was utterly laughable.
But it was also because of this doctor—otherwise, so many of his comrades-in-arms wouldn’t have died at the jaws of the corpse dragon!
Stronghouses all share a common thread, invisible before the Apocalypse, but in the apocalyptic world—where strength reigns supreme—facing a weaker adversary, a stronghouse’s dignity is sacrosanct, and his courage made this Level 6 New Human feel somewhat affronted.
How dare a mere Level 4 New Human?
He limped towards the pair, brandishing his long spear. With every step, a blood-red footprint marked the ground. Up close, one would see his flesh was corroded, caved in, exposing the bone beneath.
He confronted the duo, but the doctor didn’t look at him, and the girl, with her back turned, both remained silent. In time, the other’s face twisted into a crazed smile.
"Hehehe, what a pair of doomed lovebirds, so touching indeed."
As he spoke, his gaze returned to the girl. Her clothes, already torn to shreds by his own hands, revealed vast expanses of her pale skin. And upon that skin were numerous bruises he had inflicted, inadvertently stirring the madness within him.
Such a couple was truly enviable, yet envy often stems from jealousy, much like how every single resents those couples flaunting their affection.
Perhaps to provoke them, he chuckled disgustingly at the girl, "After so many years of apocalypse, I never expected a virgin. Tsk, tsk, the flavor is just exquisite." Then he turned his taunting gaze to the doctor, "Speaking of which, your girlfriend is quite delicious, hehehahaha!"
His laughter rang out, thinking it would incite them to attack him recklessly, but to his surprise, there was silence except for his own cackling.
Embarrassment washed over him. Seeing the pair unmoved, not even deigning to glance at him, inflamed his rage like nothing else.
"Damn it! Die!" he cursed.
Their lack of response infuriated the stronghouse. He detested that feeling. Weren’t they supposed to fight to the death against him? Then he could kill the doctor before his eyes filled with despair and pain, an encore of the cruel spectacle.
Yet reality differed starkly from his fantasy. Their complete lack of reaction left him feeling as if his punch had landed in cotton—utterly powerless.
He bellowed furiously, sweeping his spear forward, his eyes brimming with deathly intent. The spear, with an aura of ripping everything apart, struck swiftly; the two in front didn’t dodge, perhaps they couldn’t have even if they wanted to.
The gale raised by the Level 6 New Human Stronghouse blew against the girl’s shoulders, shredding her last bits of clothing. Before the spear could touch her, her flesh burst open. Then, coldly, it pierced the girl’s chest, through her heart, and emerged from the other side, coincidentally entering the doctor’s heart.
Thump! Thump!
Bang!
Each bleeding from the front and back, they spewed blood as a single spear impaled their hearts and smashed them against the wall, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Damnation!"
With both dead in a single strike, the assailant still harbored lingering hatred. Sometimes, killing someone doesn’t bring enough pleasure, as with him at this moment. He wanted to grind their corpses to dust, but his actions had wasted too much time—the Undead Dragon had turned its gaze upon him!
After swallowing seven stronghouses in one gulp, the adjacent foreign stronghouses were alarmed and leaped to attack the undead wave. Yet the skirmish left them battered or devoured. Most of the unfortunate souls hadn’t even touched the Undead Dragon before they collapsed, twitching violently on the ground, soon to be swallowed whole into its belly.
