Chapter 119: Chapter 116: Evolution, Level 3 Zombie_1
"Cough, cough!"
Chen Chaoyang, who had been abruptly lifted and slammed onto the ground by Ah Fu, spit out mouthfuls of blood and looked at Ah Fu in disbelief.
What kind of power is this?
He had thought that as one of the new breed of humans, he should be able to withstand the onslaught of the zombie Ah Fu. But this one strike nearly made him question his existence.
Meanwhile, lying on the ground, Tang Ye’s seriously burnt body was undergoing a major transformation. His body was regenerating at an extremely fast pace. In no time, his extraordinarily muscular body was revealed to the two!
Tang Ye’s body was scorching, each cell growing stronger and more resilient under the high temperature. Rhomboidal armor plates began to grow on his shoulders, layering over his right arm. His left arm, comprised of ten bone spikes, began to bloom like a flower’s petals. The ends of the bone spikes radiated an even fiercer cold light, chilling to the soul!
His strength and speed were becoming even stronger under the power of evolution! The flesh on his lips began to regrow, covering his two rows of triangular teeth. The color slowly darkened to reveal an evil, dark purple!
The ten bone spikes moved unconsciously, writhing like sentient serpents.
Splat!
Then, a cut suddenly opened on Tang Ye’s neck, spurting thick dark red blood. Countless tentacles, as thick as chopsticks, struggled out. Each tentacle had "Y" shaped spikes on it, looking extremely horrific. This sight made Li Xiaoyan quickly step back!
"What the heck is this?"
He cried out in surprise, rushing to Chen Chaoyang’s side and putting as much distance between himself and Tang Ye as he could. He had never seen the process of a zombie’s evolution before. Seeing Tang Ye’s transformation, he was extremely terrified!
The blood-red tentacles spread out, suspended over Tang Ye’s shoulders. As the minutes passed, the now recovered Tang Ye’s eyebrows furrowed, as if he was having a nightmare in his sleep.
"Where am I?"
In a vast empty space, Tang Ye looked around in confusion. He didn’t know what time it was, or where he was. He didn’t even know who he was or his name; all previous memories had vanished!
He couldn’t move, he couldn’t think; everything was instinctual, like that of a person whose limbs were amputated and senses destroyed, left to flounder in the water.
This space held no color. It wasn’t white, nor black, and definitely not a combination of both, gray. It was an empty world!
Then, suddenly, it felt as though he’d lost something very important to him. His heart ached so much that he couldn’t breathe. An instinctual rage arose; he wanted to roar out, but he was unable to make a sound. He wanted to search, but he couldn’t move!
The very next moment, his vision changed, turning pitch black, with a small white light appearing at the far end.
He realized that he could finally move. Feeling an urgency to find the lost item, he hurriedly headed towards that light.... He didn’t know how long it took, but the light gradually got bigger, just big enough for him to enter!
Without hesitation, he stepped right in, only to discover that there was nothing inside. He was disappointed, he was angry, he needed that important thing. He couldn’t find it and he didn’t even know what it was!
He tried to scream and demand his thing back, but all that came out was a whisper that he himself could barely hear. His anger surged, turning into a wild frenzy. He screamed with all his might, but his voice remained the same whisper!
It felt like a minute had passed, but it could have been thousands or tens of thousands of years. It seemed as though the heavens too started to sympathize with this lost man!
And then, he began to see images...
Roar!
The rising sun painted the sky red. Chen Chaoyang and Li Xiaoyan lay back to back, asleep. Ah Fu stood motionless beside Tang Ye. Suddenly, Tang Ye woke up, unleashing a horrifying roar that immediately woke up Chen Chaoyang and Li Xiaoyan!
"Zombie Big Brother, you’re finally awake?" Chen Chaoyang asked, concerned, as he looked at Tang Ye.
But Tang Ye didn’t pay him any attention. Instead, he sat on the ground, staring blankly at the glaring sun while his numerous tentacles hung from his shoulders. His bare back was coated with a repulsive red slime!
He had just had another strange dream, similar to the one before, but with major differences. Tang Ye didn’t feel anything in the dream, but when he woke up, he realized that everything in the dream was distorted and incongruent.
He saw images he’d never seen before - a broken city, streets filled with blood and corpses, an unbearable stench filling the air. He saw himself punching a middle-aged man and tearing his body into pieces, and beyond him, an unstoppable wave of zombies!
There was a towering wall fifty meters high, barely standing. There were people and things he had never seen before. In the dream, he seemed to be floating in mid-air, watching everything from a God’s-eye view.
Everything in the dream was unclear. He couldn’t remember the faces of people or any words. He was constantly searching for something, but couldn’t find it or didn’t know where to look.
In the dream, he was always filled with rage, tearing enemy after enemy into pieces. The distorted and discordant dreamworld was oppressive, making Tang Ye feel a deep discomfort! It felt like another version of him was trying to send him certain information, urging him to change something, to prevent a tragedy from happening!
But what was that tragedy? What had he lost in the dream?
Calming himself, Tang Ye tried to relax. Subconsciously, he reached for the rubber band on his right wrist. He didn’t know why, but seeing this small item somehow comforted him.
Yet, he didn’t know where this sense of comfort had come from.
Getting up, he felt the cold wind blowing against his bare body, but he felt no discomfort. The tentacles at the back of his neck supported his body, winding their way to his front.
"Is this what being a Level 3 zombie is like?" He quietly asked himself.
As he tightened his fist, explosive sounds popped in succession, and Tang Ye could feel the explosive power contained within his body.
Ah Fu, standing behind him, crouched down to pick up the remaining Evolution Crystals from the ground and stuff them into his mouth. Tang Ye didn’t bother about the jubilant Ah Fu, who was excited about getting so many Evolution Crystals. Instead, he headed straight towards Chen Chaoyang.
"Did you deliver my message?" He asked.
"Uh... I... I..." Chen Chaoyang stammered.
"Uh... Big Brother, I couldn’t find Ning Yu’er. Could you give me more time? I mean..."
"So, you failed?"
Tang Ye’s face suddenly turned icy cold. His hand moved at lightning speed to grab Chen Chaoyang’s throat...
