Chapter 1033: Chapter 1030: Officially Naming the Tyrant!
"Mayor Su, please wait a moment."
Just as Su Sigui took her first step inside, a hand blocked her path.
"Hmm?"
The person blocking her was a fully armed man, carrying weapons. In this place, nobody could carry weapons, except for the guards, of course. And this man must be a guard for some VIP inside.
"Mayor Su, I ask for your understanding. This meeting is of the highest secrecy, and no one other than yourself, Mayor, is permitted entry."
"I see..." Su Sigui lowered her head in understanding, but she quickly lifted it again: "However, I don’t like being stopped, nor do I want to understand you. I’m not one of those meddlesome council members. I came here at an invitation, making me a guest! Do you understand? You are blocking a guest invited by your master."
"You!"
The guard was taken aback and was about to erupt in anger, but then he remembered that Su Sigui was a Level 7 New Human. Immediately, his anger vanished, and large beads of sweat began to form on his spine!
As the guard struggled with what to do next, an aged voice came from behind the door.
"Little Su, he’s new and doesn’t know the rules. Please be patient with him. Alright, bring your people and come in. We’re only waiting for you now."
With a snort through her nose, Su Sigui led her entourage through the door.
Inside was a large conference room filled with Cloud Gorge Base’s prominent figures. Around the conference table, there were more than sixty seats, almost fifty of which were occupied; some were still empty, reserved for those currently without the qualifications to sit there.
She glanced around. Apart from the four major families’ leaders seated in the foremost positions, the rest were all Level 6 New Humans of Cloud Gorge Base. And right in the leaders’ area, there was one empty seat, undoubtedly hers.
"Little Su, come over, your seat is right here." Just as she expected, the only old man in the room spoke up. Su Sigui turned and saw that it was the Ye Family’s leader. Honestly, this old man was lucky to still wield considerable power over the Ye Family despite the Apocalypse, while the other three families’ patriarchs were less fortunate: one, although a Level 6 New Human, had his authority usurped by his son and was now confined to a small territory in the South China region; of the other two, one hadn’t had the chance to evolve into a New Human and died early in the Apocalypse, and the other, despite becoming a New Human, was too weak and ended up in retirement at the Zhang family’s estate.
And her seating position exemplified the might-makes-right reality of the post-Apocalypse, where she, a mere Level 7 New Human with military prowess and previously just an ordinary citizen, could sit with the leaders of the four major families.
Smiling, Su Sigui nodded and walked to her seat, gracefully sitting down.
"Alright, let’s begin," said Ye Family’s leader, Ye Changgong.
The real power of the four major families had now shifted to the younger generation, and as an old monster of the Ye family, Ye Changgong naturally had the most say in the room.
However, as the old man’s voice rang out, the room fell silent once more, with many directing their gaze towards him. Su Sigui’s eyes, however, were fixed on the continuously playing video on the screen in front of her.
It featured footage of the recently emerged Zombie King and other clips of Level 7 zombies appearing in different locations.
"Sigh, don’t all look at me. I’m old and don’t want to get involved with you young people. Consider me just a spectator," said Ye Changgong helplessly, as everyone was looking at him.
At his side, Su Sigui pursed her lips and thought to herself that this old fox was slick, having turned himself into an outsider with just a few words.
She also admired Ye Changgong. When her City of Bright Moon was barely taking root in Cloud Gorge Base and had just begun to clash with the Judgment, this canny old man was the first to seek cooperation with her. Indeed, those who lived long enough had an exceptional ability to read people.
It must have been some details that had made him realize the things she had done, which seemed unconventional, were far from simple in the old man’s eyes.
The people in the room paid no mind to Old Ye’s words. Right after he finished speaking, a man who appeared to be in his forties on the right coughed a few times, signaling his intent to speak.
Su Sigui was familiar with this person; he was Nangong Yang, the current leader of the Nangong Family.
The screen now showed footage of a Level 7 zombie attacking an army, and judging by the streets, it seemed to be in a foreign country. The battle depicted was one-sided slaughter, with the military constantly retreating as their overwhelming gunfire seemed no more effective on the zombie than a water gun on a person.
Soon, as the zombie leaped into the air, it was freeze-framed mid-jump. Then, with a burst of light from the projector, the content on the screen began to shift, eventually playing a video of the White-haired Zombie King.
As the video rolled, the main focus was on Ah Fu, whose body was streaming with hot magma. Nangong Yang stood up, walked to the screen, and, pointing at Ah Fu’s colossal form, said.
"As many of you here may know, this creature has appeared twice before, and with every appearance of this zombie, the Zombie King has also shown up. Our experts have concluded that this zombie is a follower of the Zombie King."
"As you are aware, Lan Ou, codenamed ’Banshee’, a Level 7 zombie, also has several followers such as Rend, Shatter, and Malice. Not to mention ’Buddha’ from the Flame Sands, Black Beetle, and other Level 7 zombies, each with their own zombie followers. As for our local Zombie King, we’re still unsure about the number of follower generals it has, but we must remain vigilant."
"As for this zombie, we have given it the codename ’Tyrant’."
Hearing Nangong Ming’s words, Su Sigui almost couldn’t help applauding aloud, feeling a curious sense of history repeating itself.
And it was this video that earned Ah Fu the name Tyrant.
Following Nangong Ming’s lead, the level 6 New Humans in the room and a few high-ranking Level 5 New Humans focused intently on the video.
They had seen this video of the Zombie King before, but each viewing was like watching an exhilarating disaster movie due to the shockingly realistic special effects!
But the difference was that this was a documentary, a true record where all the people killed by Ah Fu were real, living beings. Even through a screen, every Level 6 New Human in the room could feel the palpable sense of oppression emanating from the footage!
