I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1028 - 1025: Impact of the Storm
Chapter 1028: Chapter 1025: Impact of the Storm
However, the Funan nation is not China, and the erosion of drugs has stripped the residents of Jiuge of any concept of familial love. Apart from drugs, there was nothing to energize them. They would not fight for others; in their eyes, they only had themselves!
As long as they could live well, what did family matter to them?
But this could not go on forever. In turbulent times, harsh laws are required, and even more so before the Apocalypse. That’s why some Peace Party officials introduced slavery in the area, forcing people to work under threat of endless lashing for those who disobeyed.
It’s ironic, but human nature is just like that: slavery sounds inhumane, but it worked wonders. The agony of whipping surpassed the mental anguish caused by drugs, and the addicts finally mustered the energy to do what they ought to and keep themselves alive.
However, under such a system, how could there be no rebellion? It was on the third day after the Spring Festival that an unremarkable survivor settlement in Jiuge quietly took control of a survivor base in the South China region, threatening to use the nuclear silo within it.
The Peace Party moved quickly to intervene. But the world doesn’t always run smoothly. Either out of a desire to die rather than let the Peace Party off easy or the knowledge that surrender wouldn’t end well for them either, they launched the nuclear weapon without hesitation.
The result was that missile, flying over the heads of desperate people, heading towards the United District. Luckily, the attacker was not skilled in operation, causing the missile to deviate from its intended path and miss landing where it was meant to. It veered away from the very center of the United District but still impacted the southwestern area, instantly vaporizing 160,000 survivors. The southwest residential area of the United District became a wasteland.
This incident sent the Peace Party into a volcanic rage. In the three following months, massive armed forces clamped down on the uncollected forces of Jiuge, bringing a brutal order to the region.
Consequently, survivor bases in the South China region also suffered collateral damage. The Peace Party unsheathed its well-honed sword of slaughter and swung it around the neighboring survivor bases.
Before the formidable Peace Party, those survivor bases had no ability to resist. With the average ruler being Level 4 or Level 5 New Humans, how could they stand against the Peace Party, boasting three Level 6 New Humans and one Level 7 New Human?
The operation was smooth. In just four months, the United District had integrated all the survivor bases and various group forces in South China. Overnight, the United District became a sanctuary in the hearts of survivors, its status comparable to the super-first-tier cities before the Apocalypse.
Yet, when attempting to integrate Guanglan Base, the Peace Party encountered difficulty. Wen Yulong, the leader of Guanglan Base, used the Dragon Pearl to envelop the whole base within a protective barrier, astonishingly impervious to attack, as even Ah Fu’s full-force blow couldn’t penetrate it.
It wasn’t that the barrier formed by the energy supplied by the Dragon Pearl was so incredible; rather, it was quite fragile in the face of Ah Fu’s Level 7 Zombie strength. The issue was its strong regenerative ability: any breach would recover too quickly for any reaction to exploit.
After trying it himself, Tang Ye quickly gave up on the idea of taking over Guanglan Base. If something was beyond one’s control, it wasn’t worth obsessing over. It would be better to do other things. Thus, Wen Yulong became the luckiest guy, managing to hold onto his position.
Protected by its barrier, Guanglan Base was safe from the Peace Party’s attacks. Although it had an artificial ecosystem, it couldn’t satisfy the daily needs of nearly 300,000 residents. Logically, the people of Guanglan Base should have resented Wen Yulong for locking down the base just to save his own skin. Yet none of this resentment seemed reflected on Wen Yulong.
While the survivors lived in poverty, Wen Yulong’s standard of living was almost the same as before the Apocalypse. All the best things went through his hands first, then those of the high-ranking officials, before finally reaching the survivors below.
However, as a politician, he was adept at verbal manipulation. During the blockade by the Peace Party’s army, he used his persuasive talk to prevent the survivors from harboring resentment against him. He cleverly directed all grudges towards the Peace Party, inciting unanimous rage against it among all in Guanglan Base.
If it weren’t for the Peace Party, they wouldn’t be in this situation.
But none of this affected the Peace Party. Apart from Guanglan Base being a thorn in their side, the Peace Party had essentially seized complete control over the South China region. And throughout China, Li Henian’s nickname as the lord of the United District naturally evolved into the Overlord of South China!
One of the Four Kings of China!
In each of the four regions, the status of each king was akin to the emperors of old, their authority unquestioned!
This transformation turned the United District into the central trading hub of the entire South China region, with its economic strength soaring at breakneck speed.
Not only this, but the Peace Party also maintained an unbelievable peace with the zombies, preventing them from attacking humans, which is why the United District’s agricultural development ranked first in the world. The total cultivated land in the territories governed by the other three overlords in East China, West China, and North China combined was less extensive than that of the Peace Party alone.
Survivors from other regions called the United District the world’s least hungry paradise.
Another two months passed, and in August of The Seventh Year of the Apocalypse, amidst the calm, a video rattled the newly restored internet. The video was just over twenty minutes long. No one knew who the filmmaker was or where it was shot. The ID of the video post indicated that it was uploaded from a terminal in some area of South China.
This video stirred up a storm on the internet due to its massive impact, and not for any small reason, for it was about the Zombie King!
In the video, a forty-meter-tall Level 7 zombie with a mountain of giant bone spines on its back was enough to chill viewers to the bone even through the screen. Each step it took on the ground was so palpably felt that no one dared doubt the authenticity of the video.
Yet, what truly caused a sensation was not the Level 7 zombie itself, but some of the activities captured in the video!
