Chapter 1006: Chapter 1003: The Tyrannical Flame Tyrant 2
"I’m okay,"
Tang Ye shook his head at Li Qingtian.
"Then why are you sweating so much?" Li Qingtian’s expression was somewhat bizarre, as it was her first time seeing a zombie sweat. After speaking, she used her sleeve to wipe off the blood-streaked sweat from Tang Ye’s forehead.
However, Tang Ye seemed distracted, his gaze fixed on something in the distance.
"Right, Henian, you said you wanted to make the victor’s armor universally available, but according to Xu Haishui’s estimates, it would cost at least 5 million Yajin. Such a large sum— the Peace Party can’t come up with that right now."
Tang Ye shook his head; even now, as the Peace Party dominated the entire United District, the total wealth amounted to just over four million Yajin. This amount was nowhere near enough to equip all the soldiers with victor exoskeleton armor suits; however, Tang Ye was unwilling to let it go just like that. This was a way to enhance the Peace Party’s overall strength, and if fully equipped with the victor exoskeleton armor suits, the Peace Party would be among the top forces in China.
Moreover, Tang Ye had no real concept of Yajin. It was like having a backpack full of coins in a game—what’s the point? Using them to boost one’s strength was the best choice.
Tang Ye looked at Li Qingtian, who couldn’t help but smile, "Don’t look at me like that. When you were young, you wanted to sell me for money. Now even if you sold me, I wouldn’t be worth much."
Tang Ye also smiled, feeling a warmth in his heart.
"How could I sell you, big sis? Stay here, I’ll be back soon. I need to step out for a bit."
"What for?"
"It’s nothing, I’ll be right back."
"Okay, then."
Li Qingtian frowned as she watched Tang Ye, who didn’t say anything more, rinsed off his face with water and quickly walked downstairs.
After Tang Ye had left, Li Qingtian leaned out the window. Almost as soon as Tang Ye had left the building, she saw him at the bottom of the Peace Party Building. The surrounding soldiers greeted him, but he paid them no mind and "whoosh"—he disappeared on the spot, turned into a meteor in the sky, seemingly in a hurry over something urgent.
"What’s the hurry?" Li Qingtian muttered to herself and then stepped out the door. People around her showed the same respect as they did to Tang Ye, greeting her; however, unlike Tang Ye, Li Qingtian was much gentler and replied to each one.
Stepping out of the Peace Party Building, her direction indicated she was heading outside the United District. However, after taking just a few steps, she stopped and turned her head towards a beating incident nearby.
In a corner, several Peace Party soldiers were beating a young soldier who looked to be only seventeen or eighteen years old.
"What are you doing? Why are you hitting him?"
Li Qingtian walked over and instantly stopped the beating. When the group of soldiers saw it was Li Qingtian, they promptly ceased their actions. Everyone in the United District knew that the district’s ruler, Li Henian, had a sister—and that sister was the woman before them!
Although not afraid of Li Qingtian, her status made them not dare to offend her.
"Are you okay?"
She helped up the young soldier who had been beaten. Though also a New Human, his face was now a patchwork of blues and purples from the pummeling.
"What on earth happened?"
"Did this guy talk too much behind our backs?"
"Mouthy?" Li Qingtian was somewhat perplexed. Being mouthy surely didn’t merit such a severe beating—judging by the young soldier’s barely hanging-on appearance, he had clearly sustained serious injuries.
Following her doubts, the soldiers who had done the beating also disclosed what had happened.
As it turned out, the soldiers who had beaten him up all wore the badge of honor with two stripes, denoting a higher status within the Peace Party than that of ordinary soldiers. In private, many referred to these two-striped soldiers as "Hybrid Deer-Dogs," a fact well known to those who bore the stripes.
The special status of the two-striped soldiers had also attracted much resentment.
Even though they were aware of this, the two-striped soldiers didn’t really intend to get to the bottom of things. After all, such incidents happened everywhere. However, today, they just happened to pass by and overheard this young soldier warning his comrade.
"Look, those are the ’Hybrid Deer-Dogs.’"
Although the voice was very soft, the young soldier’s companion hadn’t anticipated that among the group of "Hybrid Deer-Dogs" was a Level 4 New Human who heard his remark. To overhear such a comment directly was different from hearing rumors, so the scene before them unfolded.
Li Qingtian fell silent for a while, and her eyes flickered with a strange light. It was hard to imagine what she was thinking right now.
After a while, she finally raised her head and said, "Forget it, it’s not a big deal. Let’s all disperse."
Hearing Li Qingtian’s words and considering her identity, no one dared to disobey. They nodded and dispersed. Following that, Li Qingtian called over a few soldiers to help carry the beaten young soldier to the infirmary.
Before leaving, the young soldier showed a grateful expression to Li Qingtian, "Thank you."
"No need to thank me, just focus on recovering," she replied.
"Understood."
Li Qingtian also shared a warm smile with him. After the young soldier was escorted away by a few others, Li Qingtian did not head towards the exit of the United District, but instead returned to the Peace Party Building.
Meanwhile, in Longyang City, a multitude of silver-armored corpses seemed to sense something and collectively let out chilling roars which echoed through the air. Almost a second later, the ground cracked open like grotesque, ugly scars.
Immediately afterward, a massive creature burrowed its way out. The roars of the silver-armored corpses seemed to acknowledge this similarly silver colossus. Shortly after, a figure lightly landed on the colossal creature’s forehead.
This figure was Tang Ye. At that moment, his eyes were filled with ruthless killing intent. His expressionless face directed towards Jiuge, and with a thunderous roar from the Bone Dragon below, it shot forward like a loosed arrow toward the direction Tang Ye pointed.
"Lin Jie."
The name fell from Tang Ye’s lips. Just before, he had felt Ah Fu’s life force grow weak, signaling that he was facing some danger. Ah Fu had managed to send a message, albeit a short one with just one meaning, one name.
And that was Lin Jie!
Tang Ye quickly realized that if Ah Fu encountered danger, the person harming him must be this individual named Lin Jie. However, something puzzled him deeply—what kind of entity could put Ah Fu in such peril?
Regardless, Ah Fu was important to him. They had known each other for nearly six years, and in such a time, even a dog would develop an attachment, let alone a faithful subordinate who was like an extension of himself.
"Faster!"
Tang Ye roared at the Bone Dragon, which shuddered in response. A burst of white mist sprayed out around its form, and it accelerated even more.
