Chapter 52: Unforeseen Bonds

After some time spent crying, Sakura finally pulls away from Adam, wiping away her tears.

Embarrassment colors her face, her gaze lowered. She mumbles, "I’ve shown you such an ugly side of myself...."

Hearing this, Adam quickly shakes his head. "Ugly? I didn’t see it that way at all," he replies with sincerity, his tone warm. "In fact, I think it was fantastic. I think I’ve just become your biggest fan."

Sakura glances up at him, a surprised laugh escaping her lips. For the first time, her laughter is genuine, lightening her expression as she smiles.

She jokes, "So... you’re the same guy who was staring at me this morning?"

Adam chuckles, scratching his head. "I’m sorry about that. I... I was just lost in thought."

Sakura’s smile lingers as she watches him, and a sudden impulse strikes her. "Would you mind... if we met again sometime like this?" she asks, her voice soft but hopeful.

Adam’s answer is immediate, his tone reassuring. "Of course. Anytime you want, I’ll be there."

Sakura hesitates, then reaches into her pocket. She suggests, "Then let’s exchange contact info. That way, I can call you whenever."

With a quick nod, Adam pulls out his phone, gently tapping it against hers.

Instantly, their contacts exchange, the small notification lighting up on both screens. There’s an unspoken promise in this act, a connection forged.

As Sakura looks at her phone, a small smile grows on her lips, and a soft, happy glow fills her face.

At this, Sakura lets out another laugh, one filled with relief and joy. Stepping forward, she wraps her arms around him in a spontaneous hug.

Adam’s breath catches, his heart pounding as he freezes in surprise. There’s something disarming, warm, and oddly comforting about her embrace.

He can still smell her faint perfume, a delicate floral scent that lingers as she pulls back, smiling with a shy blush.

"I really enjoyed meeting you," she admits softly, her eyes glimmering before she walks away, a sense of renewed spirit in her steps.

Once she’s gone, Adam is left standing there, watching the doorway where she exited.

His focus is only broken when Sona, his small, feline-like companion, nudges him, perching on his shoulder with an impatient look. "Lord Adam, she’s gone now. Shall we get some food? I’m starving!" she says, her tail flicking with exaggerated hunger.

Adam blinks, snapping back to the present. He chuckles, "Alright, alright. Let’s go eat."

They make their way to Adam’s secret place for a quiet meal. He’s thoughtful as he eats, his mind drifting back to the moment Sakura hugged him.

He recalls the scent that clung to his clothes, a subtle reminder of her warmth and presence. A small smile plays on his lips.

Sona notices, pausing mid-bite to study him. Mischievously, she picks up a piece of food with her telekinetic abilities and floats it right into Adam’s mouth.

Caught off guard, Adam coughs, chewing and swallowing quickly. "Sona!" he exclaims, giving her a look of mock exasperation. "You know, you could give me a warning before doing that. I might choke."

With a smirk, Sona replies, "But you were so lost in thought, Lord Adam. I had to bring you back somehow."

Adam rolls his eyes but doesn’t press the matter. They finish their meal, and he heads back to class, still carrying the gentle memory of Sakura’s embrace.

As Adam approaches the classroom, he spots Robin standing by the door, an arrogant smirk on his face. "Yo, loser. Seems like you’re getting pretty bold lately," Robin sneers, flanked by two of his friends.

Sona, still perched on Adam’s shoulder, bristles with irritation. "How dare he raise his voice to Lord Adam! I’ll teach him a lesson—"

But Adam’s calming voice reaches her mind. "Sona, stand down. There’s no need for that."

With an irritated flick of her tail, Sona sits back down, her gaze narrowed as she glares at Robin.

Adam simply meets Robin’s challenging gaze with a quiet calm, saying nothing.

The classroom has two doors: one by the front row and the other near the back. Ani, sits inside, finishing her lunch.

She’s unaware of the tension unfolding at the back door as Robin blocks Adam’s entry, keeping him from joining the class.

As other students pass through the front entrance, many notice the confrontation yet continue with their business.

Robin sneers, "So, trying to act all high and mighty, huh?" He steps forward and grabs Adam’s collar, a surge of anger visible in his eyes.

His mind is filled with resentment and jealousy—Adam has somehow won over ani, a girl Robin admires.

His grip tightens as he pulls Adam closer, whispering menacingly, "You won’t get away with this for long, loser. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re trying to do."

Adam remains unfazed, calm as ever, but the other students finally begin paying attention.

Tension ripples through the school corridor, with Adam seemingly choosing restraint over retaliation. Just then, a voice shouts from behind, "Robin, you’ve crossed the line!"

Adam’s friend Eric storms over, his athletic frame towering as he pries Robin’s hand off Adam’s collar. "Got a problem with someone, huh? Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?"

Robin hesitates, caught off guard by Eric’s sudden intervention. Eric, known for his hot-headed personality and love for sports, isn’t someone most people would willingly challenge.

"Back off, Eric," one of Robin’s friends says, stepping forward. "This isn’t your fight."

Robin’s bravado falters slightly, though he gains a bit of confidence when his friends move to his side.

With a sneer, he mutters, "We didn’t ask you to get involved. Just walk away."

By now, a crowd of students has gathered, whispering as they watch the escalating confrontation.

Adam feels a pang of frustration, thinking, This is exactly what I wanted to avoid.

Eric tightens his fists, ready to swing, but Adam places a hand on his shoulder. "Eric, let it go. There’s no need to fight."

But Robin’s taunts continue, his voice laced with bitterness. "Of course you’d want to back down, loser. Smart of you."

Eric squares his shoulders, stepping closer to Robin. "If you really want a fight, pick on me, not Adam. I’ll show you what a real fight is."

Robin’s friends, emboldened by the crowd, step forward, one of them saying loudly, "Eric, this isn’t about you. Stay out of it."

Eric’s expression hardens as he snaps back, "When you mess with my friend, it becomes my business. Don’t think you can just walk all over him."

Robin’s confidence wavers, but he tries to stand his ground, emboldened by his friends’ support. "Whatever. Just back off."

With tension thick in the air, Adam’s patience begins to fray.

He quietly wishes the confrontation would end, but he realizes it’s spiraling out of control. Just then, Cole arrives, grabbing Eric’s arm to restrain him. "Eric, stop. You know what’ll happen if you throw the first punch here."

Though Eric loosens his stance, he remains close, a silent threat in his posture. Robin scoffs, rolling his eyes. "A bunch of losers, all of you."

Adam clenches his jaw, the conflict gnawing at him. Though his friends have his back, he despises the needless fighting.
