Chapter 260: Nothing Is Making Any Sense
Chapter: Nothing Is Making Any Sense.
Adam remained standing before the array of holographic screens, his intense gaze locked on the recently concluded video.
The government’s announcement confirming their alliance with The Union echoed in his mind.
For a moment, a faint smile touched his lips—this was a significant milestone, a step closer to their mission of maintaining order among power holders.
Yet, the smile was fleeting. A shadow of suspicion clouded his thoughts.
"Wait a moment," Adam muttered under his breath, his brow furrowing deeply.
His expression darkened as realization struck. The government’s claim didn’t sit right with him. They had declared an alliance, yet The Union had never initiated such talks.
He turned sharply, his eyes narrowing as they landed on Pratham’s holographic form.
Adam feels that maybe while he was sleeping Pratham took his place and talked to the government and formed this alliance. Adam wants to get all the information from Pratham about forming the alliance.
The calm, blue-tinged avatar remained stationary on one of the central screens, radiating its usual aura of composure. Adam’s tone grew sharper, his words firm.
"Pratham," Adam began, "while I was asleep, did you initiate any talks with the government as a representative of The Union?"Adam thinks to himself that maybe it was Pratham who talked to the government on his behalf.
Pratham’s holographic eyes met Adam’s, unwavering in their steadiness. He shook his head slowly, his voice calm yet resolute.
"Lord Adam, I would never act on such matters without your direct orders. I assure you, I have had no communication with the government regarding any alliance."
Adam’s frown deepened. He paced briefly, processing Pratham’s response. His gaze shifted to Zero, who stood silently at the edge of the room.
"Zero," Adam called, his tone commanding, "did you speak to the government about an alliance on behalf of The Union?"
Zero immediately straightened his posture. His synthetic features, designed to emulate humanity, remained neutral but respectful.
"Lord Adam," he replied firmly, "I haven’t spoken to anyone in the government about this matter. My focus has been entirely on developing this base and ensuring its readiness for our operations."
Adam’s jaw tightened. He scanned the room, his eyes falling next on Sona, whose small form hovered near him. Before he could ask, Sona preempted his question.
"Lord Adam," she said, her delicate voice cutting through the tension in the room, "I believe none of us here initiated contact with the government." Her tone was confident, yet her expression carried traces of concern.
This admission left Adam momentarily stunned. He turned away, running a hand through his hair as confusion gave way to frustration.
"If none of us spoke to the government," he said aloud, his voice carrying disbelief, "then how could they claim to have formed an alliance with us—without our consent?"
The room fell into an uneasy silence. Ninja, standing nearby, shifted his stance slightly but refrained from speaking.
Phantom’s glowing form flickered faintly, her presence ethereal yet steadfast as she watched the conversation unfold.
The stillness was broken by Sona, who raised a glowing hand, her blue aura intensifying slightly as she stepped forward.
"Lord Adam," she began, her voice measured, "why not ask the one person who might be responsible for all of this?"
Adam turned sharply, his confusion evident. "The one person responsible?" he repeated, his tone questioning. His mind raced through the possibilities, searching for a name that fit Sona’s cryptic suggestion. Then it hit him.
"Krish," Adam said aloud, his eyes widening briefly with realization.
The atmosphere shifted. Phantom tilted her head slightly, her glowing eyes fixated on Adam, while Zero exchanged a brief glance with Ninja. Sona remained calm, her wings fluttering gently as she hovered closer.
Adam wasted no time. Turning back to Pratham, he spoke decisively. "Contact Krish immediately."
Pratham nodded, his holographic form flickering slightly as he began processing Adam’s command.
But before he could proceed, Sona darted forward, her wings buzzing rapidly as she positioned herself directly in front of Adam.
Her small frame hovered at eye level, her aura casting a faint blue glow across the pristine white room.
"Lord Adam," Sona said firmly, her voice carrying an unusual authority.
Adam frowned, his expression a mixture of curiosity and impatience. "Why?" he asked, his tone sharp. "What’s the reason for the delay?"
Sona met his gaze steadily, her tone measured but insistent. "I believe you should speak to him directly. Allow me to bring him here for you."
Adam studied her for a moment, his frown deepening as he considered her suggestion.
The logic behind her request was sound—Krish’s physical presence would ensure transparency and allow Adam to confront him directly. Still, the urgency of the situation made him hesitant.
After a pause, Adam nodded slowly, stepping back slightly. "Fine," he said, his voice calm but firm. "Bring him here."
Sona’s expression softened with relief. She nodded in acknowledgment, her wings fluttering faster as she prepared to teleport. "I’ll bring him here now," she said, her voice resolute.
In a flash of radiant light, she vanished from the room, leaving Adam and the others to wait.
As the room settled into an uneasy silence, Adam’s mind raced. He couldn’t shake the implications of the government’s announcement.
If Krish truly had a hand in this unexpected alliance, what were his motives? Was he acting in The Union’s best interest, or had he been coerced into making a decision under duress?
The tension in the room was palpable. Phantom hovered silently, her ethereal glow casting soft shadows on the walls.
Ninja stood rigidly at attention, his sharp eyes betraying his own unease. Even Zero, usually calm and composed, appeared slightly on edge as he observed Adam’s expression.
Adam crossed his arms, his sharp gaze fixed on the spot where Sona had vanished. His thoughts swirled with questions, but one thing was clear—he needed answers, and he needed them now.
The Chapter concludes with Adam standing silently, his determination evident as he prepares to confront Krish and uncover the truth behind the government’s alliance with The Union.
