Chapter: Interrogation and Revelations

The room was dimly lit, casting long shadows over the figures seated in the center.

Cosmic Being, now bound with shimmering white cuffs on his wrists and a glowing blue crystal embedded in a collar around his neck, sat motionless.

Beside him, Krish slumped in his chair, his severed arm bandaged but still visibly injured.

Emily lay unconscious to the side, her once-defiant demeanor replaced by stillness.

As Adam teleported into the room, all eyes turned toward him.

Phantom, Ninja, Zero, and Sona had been waiting for his arrival. Sona was the first to move, gliding toward Adam with her golden energy radiating softly.

"Lord Adam," she said with quiet authority, "we’ve been expecting you."

Adam nodded and moved toward an empty chair positioned before the captives. Sitting down calmly, he spoke, his voice steady. "Wake them."

Phantom stepped forward, raising her hand. A white energy began to flow from her palm, spreading toward the captives like waves of light. As the energy touched their bodies, the captives began to stir.

Samuel was the first to awaken. His eyes fluttered open, and as his vision adjusted, he froze, staring directly at Adam.

A flicker of confusion passed across his face before it was replaced by anger. He turned his head slightly, seeing Krish beside him.

Krish stirred next, his face pale and drenched in sweat. As his eyes landed on Adam, sheer terror gripped him.

His voice trembled as he stammered, "Y-you’re not mad about last time, are you? I was forced—Samuel made me do it! I’ll work for you! Please, just don’t hurt me!"

Samuel’s head snapped toward Krish, his gaze sharp and cold.

Krish, sensing Samuel’s anger, panicked further. "What are you looking at?" he shouted, his voice cracking. "If you’re so powerful, why don’t you prove it? Beat Adam and show us all!"

The room fell silent, stunned by Krish’s audacity. Even Samuel appeared momentarily shocked.

From the side, Phantom muttered, "What a coward..."

Krish smirked weakly, as though trying to regain some semblance of control. "See? I’m just calling it as I see it, Lord Adam," he said, his tone dripping with false confidence.

Before he could continue, Zero moved like a blur. In an instant, he was beside Krish, his metallic fist slamming into Krish’s face with a resounding crack.

The force knocked both Krish and the chair backward, sending him sprawling to the ground. Blood trickled from Krish’s mouth as he groaned in pain.

Zero reached down, grabbing Krish by the collar and dragging him upright. His glowing eyes locked onto Adam’s as he spoke. "Lord Adam, I won’t tolerate anyone disrespecting you."

Adam raised a hand, signaling Zero to step back. Understanding the gesture, Zero released Krish, who collapsed back into his chair, clutching his face in pain.

"Next time," Adam said evenly, his gaze piercing Krish, "think before you speak."

Krish nodded weakly, too terrified to reply.

Adam’s attention shifted to Samuel, whose face remained stoic but whose eyes betrayed his unease. Adam’s voice was calm but carried an edge. "Where is Christina?"

Samuel stared at him silently, refusing to answer.

Adam turned to Zero, who immediately moved behind Samuel.

Placing his hands firmly on Samuel’s shoulders, Zero’s internal systems activated, sending a controlled surge of energy into the captive.

Samuel gritted his teeth, his body convulsing slightly as the current coursed through him.

"Where is Christina?" Adam repeated, his voice firm.

This time, Samuel’s resistance began to waver. His breathing grew ragged, and beads of sweat formed on his brow.

From the corner of her eye, Emily watched the scene, her face pale. She avoided looking directly at Adam, her head bowed low in submission.

Even Krish, despite his earlier bravado, flinched at Samuel’s agonized groans.

As the current subsided, Samuel finally spoke, his voice strained. "Alright... I’ll tell you." He looked up at Adam, his expression twisted with pain and resentment. "I’ve sealed her powers. She’s somewhere you’ll never reach."

Adam leaned forward, his tone dangerously quiet. "Unseal her. Now."

Samuel’s lips curled into a bitter smile. "That’s not going to happen."

Adam’s eyes narrowed, his patience wearing thin. He gestured toward Zero, who tightened his grip on Samuel’s shoulders, preparing another surge of energy.

The room hung heavy with tension as Adam locked eyes with Samuel.

Everyone could feel the weight of the moment, knowing that one way or another, Adam would get the answers he sought.

The air in the room was heavy with tension. Adam stood facing Samuel, his piercing gaze locked onto the bound man.

Samuel sat there, his hands cuffed with the glowing white restraints, the crystal on his collar pulsating faintly.

Despite his position, there was an unsettling arrogance in his smirk.

"You don’t seem to understand your situation," Adam began, his tone sharp, trying to gauge the man’s motives.

Adam is quite surprised to see Samuel’s resistance and he cannot understand why he is still not telling Adam anything, normally anyone would open his mouth in this situation no matter how powerful.

Samuel chuckled, a low, mocking sound that echoed through the room. "Oh, I understand perfectly where I am. And no, I don’t expect any mercy from you," he replied, his voice dripping with disdain. "But the funny part is, I don’t need any."

Adam narrowed his eyes, taken aback by Samuel’s unrelenting confidence. He stepped forward, closing the distance between them, until they were almost face-to-face. "So," Adam asked, his voice cold, "you won’t release Christina, will you?"

Samuel’s smirk widened into a grin. "It’s not about whether I want to or not. The truth is... I can’t."

Adam froze for a moment, confused by Samuel’s cryptic response. "What do you mean by that?" he demanded, his voice carrying a sharp edge.

Samuel leaned back against his chair as far as his bindings would allow, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "Aren’t you curious about my abilities? Don’t you want to know what makes me... special?"

Adam tilted his head slightly, his silence urging Samuel to continue.

Samuel chuckled again. "If you ask nicely, I might just tell you," he teased.

The room grew quiet, the air thick with anticipation. Adam finally broke the silence, his voice calm but commanding. "Fine. Tell me."

Samuel’s grin widened as though he had won a small victory. "Since you’ve asked so politely," he said mockingly, "I’ll share my secret. But first, let me say this—among all the power holders I’ve faced, you’re the strongest. I’ve never encountered anyone like you."

Adam felt an odd sense of unease at Samuel’s words. He wasn’t sure whether to feel flattered or wary of the compliment. Without responding, he stepped back and seated himself in the chair opposite Samuel, motioning for him to continue.

Samuel glanced at the others in the room—Zero, Ninja, Sona, and Phantom—before his gaze returned to Adam. "My power," he began, his tone dropping, "is the ability to steal the abilities of others."

Adam’s eyes widened slightly, though he maintained his composure. Deep down, he had suspected as much but hearing it confirmed sent a chill down his spine.

Samuel leaned forward as much as the restraints would allow, his voice dropping to a sinister whisper. "But it’s not as simple as just taking them. For my power to work, my target must be utterly broken—mentally, emotionally. They must lose all hope. Only then can I strip them of everything they have."

The weight of Samuel’s words sank in, and Adam’s mind raced. It all made sense now—Samuel’s obsession with mind games, his calculated efforts to manipulate and weaken his targets.

Adam exhaled slowly, his voice quiet but firm. "So, that’s why you play these games. To break your opponents from the inside out."

Samuel’s smirk returned, a dark gleam in his eyes. "Exactly. And it works every time. Well... almost every time," he added, his tone tinged with irritation.

Adam straightened in his chair, his gaze unwavering. "What about Christina? What have you done to her?"

Samuel’s smile faltered, replaced by a flash of annoyance. He glanced over at Zero, who had stepped closer, his hands glowing faintly. Samuel’s discomfort was palpable.

"You want answers?" Samuel asked, his voice rising slightly. "Then you’ll need to be patient. You’ll find out in time."

Adam clenched his fists, his patience wearing thin. His voice was steady but laced with authority. "Where did you learn about me, Samuel? Who told you?"

Samuel’s expression shifted, the arrogance in his eyes flickering for a brief moment. He glanced around the room, sensing the pressure mounting. Everyone’s gaze was fixed on him, waiting for his answer.

Instead of replying, Samuel leaned back, a faint smile returning to his lips. "Let’s just say," he said cryptically, "your reputation precedes you."

Adam’s eyes narrowed, his mind already piecing together possibilities. But before he could press further, Samuel fell silent, refusing to elaborate.

The room grew quiet once more, the tension thick and unyielding. Adam sat back in his chair, his thoughts racing as he contemplated his next move.
