Chapter 218: The Cosmic Master

Chapter:

---

The dim light of the abandoned building flickered slightly, casting shadows over the cold, empty room.

The air carried an unsettling stillness, broken only by the sound of slow, deliberate footsteps.

Adam’s masked face was expressionless, but his mind was racing as he watched Zero move closer to the unconscious Krish, who was slumped on the ground.

Zero’s movements were precise and mechanical, his upgraded robotic body emitting a faint hum.

He crouched next to Krish, gently placing a hand on the man’s chest and neck. After a moment, Zero stood, turning back to Adam and the group.

"Lord Adam," Zero announced, his voice calm yet authoritative, "he is unconscious. Vital signs are stable."

Adam’s eyes narrowed behind his mask. How could a Power Holder fall unconscious so easily? He couldn’t shake the growing unease in his chest. Something felt off, as though they were walking into a larger scheme.

Taking a deep breath, Adam pushed his doubts aside and issued his next command. "Zero, take him to the abandoned building where Atlas was held. I want him secured immediately."

Zero nodded without hesitation. "Understood, Lord Adam."

Zero activated his teleportation module, his body and the unconscious Krish disappearing in a flash of blue light.

In the same instant, they reappeared inside the interrogation room of the abandoned building. The space was barren, with only a single chair bolted to the floor and dim lights casting long shadows.

Zero worked quickly. He placed Krish into the chair, securing him firmly before stepping back to examine the room.

Nearby, his robotic dog materialized, its glowing blue eyes scanning the area for threats.

Moments later, Adam and the rest of his team—Soona, Tayo, and Ninja—teleported into the room. Adam immediately assessed the situation, his sharp gaze falling on the restrained Krish.

"Wake him," Adam instructed.

Tayo stepped forward, her wings shimmering faintly as she approached Krish. Hovering above him, she extended her hand, placing it gently on his forehead. A soft golden glow spread from her palm, flowing into Krish’s head. Slowly, his eyes began to flutter open.

Krish groaned, his eyes darting around the unfamiliar room as he regained consciousness.

He shifted uncomfortably in the chair, testing his restraints. When his gaze landed on Adam, his body tensed, but then a peculiar expression crossed his face.

He smiled.

That smile soon turned into a chuckle, and then, to the shock of everyone present, he burst into laughter.

Adam’s jaw tightened beneath his mask. His instincts screamed that something was wrong. Why is he laughing?

Soona and Tayo exchanged worried glances, their wings fluttering slightly in agitation. Ninja stepped closer to Adam, his body taut and ready for action.

Even Zero, ever calm and composed, seemed to tilt his head in curiosity.

"You find this amusing?" Adam’s voice cut through the room, cold and demanding.

Krish’s laughter subsided into a grin as he looked directly at Adam. "Oh, I knew you’d come, Adam."

The words hit Adam like a thunderclap. His body stiffened, and his thoughts raced. How does he know my name?

Behind him, Soona gasped, her blue eyes widening in disbelief. Tayo’s wings froze mid-flutter, and Ninja’s grip on his swords tightened.

Adam’s voice was low and sharp. "How do you know my name?"

Krish leaned back, his demeanor completely at ease despite his situation. "Oh, Adam," he said mockingly, "you think you’re so clever, hiding behind that mask. But I know everything about you—the Creator and his precious new species."

The room fell silent.

Adam’s breath hitched as the full weight of Krish’s words sank in. His identity, his powers—everything he had worked so hard to keep hidden—had been exposed.

"How...?" Adam whispered, his voice barely audible.

Krish’s grin widened. "It doesn’t matter how. What matters is that I know. You can’t hide from me, Adam. Not behind that mask, not behind your creations."

Adam’s fists clenched at his sides. He took a step forward, his mask concealing the fury boiling within him. Grabbing Krish by the collar, he yanked him forward.

"Tell me how you know about me!" Adam growled, his voice filled with frustration and desperation.

Krish didn’t flinch. If anything, he seemed amused. "You really are pathetic," he said, his tone dripping with disdain. "Hiding behind your creations, too afraid to fight on your own. I’ve never seen a Power Holder more cowardly than you."

Adam’s anger reached its breaking point. He raised his hand, ready to strike. But before he could act, a soft yet firm voice interrupted him.

"Lord Adam."

Soona hovered beside him, her small hand resting lightly on his arm. Her voice was calm but urgent. "Don’t let him provoke you. He’s trying to get a reaction out of you. Stay in control."

Adam’s hand trembled, but he lowered it, taking a step back. He released Krish’s collar, letting the man slump back into the chair.

Krish chuckled, unbothered by Adam’s display of power. "That’s right, Adam. Stay calm. After all, you wouldn’t want to give me the satisfaction, would you?"

Adam turned away, his mind racing. How does he know so much about me? What else does he know?

"We’ll get answers," he said quietly, more to himself than anyone else.

As Krish’s mocking laughter echoed through the room, Adam steeled himself for the confrontation ahead.

The cold, dimly lit room grew heavier with tension as Adam slowly stepped back from Krish.

His sharp eyes, partially hidden behind his mask, bore into the restrained man in the chair.

Something was deeply unsettling about this Power Holder—his calmness, his composure, and the mocking glint in his eyes.

Taking a deep breath, Adam reached up to his mask and, with a deliberate motion, pulled it off.

He let it fall to the ground, the sound of it hitting the concrete floor echoing in the silence. His face was hard, etched with a mix of anger and frustration.

Looking directly into Krish’s eyes, Adam demanded, "How do you know who I am?"

Krish’s response wasn’t what anyone expected. He threw his head back and laughed, his voice resonating with amusement that felt unnerving in the oppressive atmosphere.

"How amusing," Krish said between chuckles. "To see the great Adam, the Creator, the one they say could one day rule this world, so desperate. And here you are, asking questions like a helpless child."

Adam’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t let his emotions control him. "I asked you a question," he said coldly. "How do you know who I am? Tell me, or—"

Krish interrupted him, a smirk playing on his lips. "Oh, don’t bother with the threats. I already know what you’ll do. Go ahead, intimidate me, hurt me, even kill me if you want. None of it will make a difference."

This calm, almost dismissive attitude unsettled Adam further. How could he be so fearless? So assured, even while restrained?

Krish tilted his head and smiled. "But I’ll save you the trouble. Let me tell you who I am."

"My name is Krish," he began, his tone dripping with confidence. "And yes, I know you’ll try to extract information from me. I’ll make it easy for you. My Power Holder ability allows me to control anyone weaker than me. Their will, their actions—everything bends to my command."

Adam’s expression remained unreadable, but his mind was racing. Control...? Is that how he’s manipulated the government?

Krish noticed Adam’s silence and leaned forward slightly, a mocking glint in his eyes. "I know what you’re thinking, Adam. ’How does he know so much about me? What else does he know?’"

Adam’s fists clenched at his sides, his patience wearing thin. But he forced himself to stay calm. Krish’s attitude was maddening, yet he needed answers.

Krish’s grin widened. "You’re not the only one with an organization, Adam. I serve someone too—my master, the Cosmic Being."

The words hung in the air like a thunderclap. Adam’s eyes narrowed. The Cosmic Being. The name alone carried weight, a sense of power and mystery that made his instincts scream caution.

"Who is this master of yours?" Adam asked, his voice steady but tinged with suspicion.

Krish laughed again, a low, knowing chuckle. "The Cosmic Being is far beyond your comprehension, Adam. But let me simplify it for you. He is the one who sent me here, the one who gave me the task of controlling your government. The President, the Prime Minister—they’re all under my control, thanks to my master’s command."

The revelation sent a ripple of shock through the room. Soona, Tayo, Ninja, and Zero all exchanged glances, their expressions mirroring Adam’s unease. This wasn’t just about Krish. There was a far larger force at play, one that could challenge even Adam’s creations.

Krish leaned back in his chair, his confidence unwavering. "But that’s not all," he continued. "My master told me something else. He said that one day, I would be captured by you—Adam, the Creator of New Species."

Adam froze, the weight of Krish’s words sinking in like a leaden stone.

Krish’s smirk deepened. "He told me that the day I was captured by you, my task would be complete. That day is today, Adam."

The room fell into a heavy silence, broken only by the faint hum of Zero’s mechanical systems. Adam’s heart pounded in his chest, his thoughts spiraling. How could this be? Had Krish anticipated everything? Had his master planned this encounter from the start?

Before Adam could process it further, the room began to shift. A dark, swirling energy appeared around Krish, circling him like a living shadow. The air grew colder, and an eerie hum filled the space.

"What’s happening?" Sona whispered, her voice tinged with fear.

The dark energy grew denser, enveloping Krish completely. The swirling mass of shadow pulsed once, twice, and then contracted inward with a flash.

When the light faded, Krish was gone.

All that remained was the empty chair, swaying slightly from the sudden disappearance.

Adam stumbled back, his eyes wide in shock. His chair toppled over as he caught his balance, the sound echoing in the now-silent room.

Ninja unsheathed his swords in a flash, his stance defensive and ready. Zero stepped forward, his fingers shifting into weaponized forms, prepared for an attack.

But there was nothing. Only the oppressive silence and the unsettling realization that Krish was gone, his words lingering like a haunting echo.

Adam stared at the empty chair, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. What was the Cosmic Being planning? How much more did Krish know?

The room felt colder now, the weight of the unknown pressing down on everyone.

And in that moment, Adam understood one thing: the battle had only just begun.
