Chapter 181: The Interrogation

Chapter: The Interrogation

The room was silent after Sona, Tayo, Pratham, and Mikasa left. Adam stood still for a moment, taking a deep breath as he stared at the closed door.

The weight of the upcoming task pressed on his mind. Alone in the dimly lit space, he muttered to himself,

"Time to finish what I started." Without wasting another second, Adam activated his teleportation skill. A faint glow enveloped him, and in an instant, he disappeared.

The scene shifted to a decrepit building, long abandoned and forgotten. Dust coated the crumbling walls, and broken beams hung precariously from the ceiling.

Weak rays of sunlight filtered through cracks in the boarded windows, casting streaks of light on the dusty floor.

The air was thick and heavy, carrying the faint scent of rust and decay.

In the center of a large, empty room sat Atlas, bound tightly to a metal chair. His head hung low, his body restrained with thick ropes.

His wrists and ankles ached from the unyielding bindings. He groaned softly, his muscles stiff and sore, as he attempted to free himself.

Suddenly, a faint hum filled the room. Before Atlas could react, Adam appeared before him, materializing out of thin air.

Dressed entirely in black, with a sleek mask obscuring his face, Adam’s arrival was as silent as it was unsettling.

Atlas jerked in surprise, his eyes widening as he instinctively leaned back in his chair.

"Couldn’t you at least announce yourself?" he snapped, attempting to mask his fear with sarcasm.

Adam tilted his head slightly, as though perplexed by the response.

Though he didn’t respond immediately, he found Atlas’s tone curious. "He’s trying to act bold," Adam thought, "but the fear is written all over him." Still, Adam chose to let it slide.

Stepping forward, Adam dragged a chair from the corner of the room and placed it directly in front of Atlas.

The metal legs screeched against the floor, the grating sound echoing through the empty space. Calmly, Adam sat down, crossing his arms as he leaned back slightly.

When he spoke, his voice was low, distorted to disguise his identity.

"I’m going to ask you a few questions," he said coldly, his tone firm and devoid of emotion. "If you don’t answer, I won’t need to tell you what I can do to make you talk."

Atlas flinched at the words, his mind flashing back to the last time he had faced Adam.

He remembered the battle vividly—the overwhelming power, the ruthless precision, and the way Adam had effortlessly exploited his greatest fear.

During their fight, Adam had trapped Atlas in a horrifying illusion, one that had sent him falling endlessly into a bottomless abyss.

Heights had always been Atlas’s greatest fear, and the sensation of freefall had been enough to paralyze him with terror.

Though the memory sent a shiver down his spine, Atlas forced himself to remain composed.

He couldn’t let Adam see his weakness. Summoning his courage, he smirked defiantly. "Do whatever you want," he spat. "You’re not getting anything out of me. My team is already on their way. It’s only a matter of time before they find me."

Adam remained silent, his posture unchanging. Behind the mask, his piercing gaze seemed to cut through Atlas’s facade, unraveling the layers of false bravado.

In truth, Atlas had no idea how much time had passed since his capture. His body ached from the prolonged confinement, his muscles stiff and unresponsive.

He had woken up tied to the chair, his memory hazy and disjointed. All he knew was that he had been out for what felt like an eternity.

But he couldn’t afford to let Adam see his confusion. Instead, he doubled down on his bluff. "You think you’ve won?" he continued, his voice laced with defiance.

"My team has someone who can sense energy from miles away. He’s probably tracking me as we speak, and when he gets here..."

He let the sentence hang in the air, hoping to intimidate Adam with the implied threat.

Unbeknownst to Atlas, Adam knew exactly who he was talking about.

His mind flashed back to the battle with the The Commission, where he had encountered a short, wiry boy with the ability to sense energy.

The boy had been a nuisance, constantly revealing Adam’s location no matter how many times he teleported.

But Adam also remembered the boy’s limitation. His sensing range was capped at 200 meters, a fact Adam had exploited to turn the tide of that battle. The knowledge brought a small, hidden smile to Adam’s lips beneath the mask.

Atlas, oblivious to Adam’s thoughts, continued his act. "You should be scared," he sneered. "Because when my team finds me, you’re going to wish you’d never crossed us."

Adam didn’t respond. He simply sat there, his presence commanding and unshakable. The silence was deafening, and it began to gnaw at Atlas’s composure.

Though he maintained his defiant exterior, Atlas’s mind was racing. "Why haven’t they found me yet?" he wondered. "It’s been too long. Something must have gone wrong." The uncertainty weighed heavily on him, but he couldn’t let Adam see his doubt.

"I’ll say this one last time," Adam finally spoke, his voice calm and deliberate. "Save your energy. You’re going to need it."

Atlas froze, the weight of the words sinking in. He couldn’t tell if it was a threat or a warning, but either way, it sent a chill down his spine.

Adam rose from his chair slowly, his movements deliberate and measured. He towered over Atlas, his shadow stretching across the room like a dark omen. "We’ll continue this soon," Adam said, his tone flat but commanding.

Turning on his heel, Adam stepped into the shadows, his form gradually blending with the dim light until he was gone.

Left alone, Atlas felt a pang of unease. For all his bravado, he couldn’t shake the feeling that Adam had already won. Bound and helpless, he could do nothing but wait, his thoughts consumed by fear and uncertainty.

Meanwhile, Adam reappeared in a different part of the building, his mind focused on the next phase of his plan. The battle was far from over, but for now, he held all the cards.
