Chapter 149: Winner of the Battle

Chapter 149 - Winner Of The Battle

The air crackled with tension as Ani surged forward with fierce determination. Her every move radiated desperation, her gaze locked onto UV1.

Soaring above her, Sona hovered like a vigilant sentinel, her tiny form unwavering. UV1’s eyes widened in surprise as he realized what was happening.

For a moment, his shock paralyzed him. Then, with a swift, decisive gesture, he raised his hands, his brown eyes gleaming with an eerie glow.

His transformation was sudden; the once-blue hue of his irises shifted into a deep, luminescent brown, casting a sinister light over the battlefield.

As his power activated, thick, metallic wires erupted from the floor beneath Ani. They snaked upward, encircling her body with ruthless precision, coiling around her arms, legs, and torso.

Ani’s forward momentum came to an abrupt halt as the wires pulled taut, forcing her to collapse to the ground.

She struggled, her body writhing, but the restraints held firm, rendering her motionless.

Above, UV1’s focus was singular. He loomed over Ani, triumphant, oblivious to the threat still circling above. Sona’s sharp eyes narrowed. This was the moment she had been waiting for.

---

Flashback -

Moments earlier, when both Ani and Sona were trapped within the cube of white tiles, Sona had turned to Ani. Her voice was calm but urgent.

"I have a simple plan," she said, her small, ethereal form glowing faintly. "I’ll free you from your restraints. Once you’re free, I need you to distract UV1. Use whatever you have at your disposal to keep his attention. I’ll handle the rest with a surprise attack."

Ani had nodded, determination gleaming in her eyes. "I’m ready. I’ll do whatever it takes to strike at him."

Sona had smiled, a flicker of admiration crossing her delicate face. "Forgive me, Miss Ani, but I truly need your help."

Ani’s lips curved into a faint smile despite the gravity of their situation. "It feels good to be of use to someone," she replied earnestly.

Without another word, Sona had extended her tiny hands toward Ani’s glowing restraints. Concentrating, she activated her teleportation skill.

A faint shimmer enveloped Ani’s wrist cuffs, and in the blink of an eye, they vanished. The blue light that had bound her dissipated, and with another burst of effort, the wires around Ani’s feet disappeared as well.

Freed, Ani flexed her hands and tested her legs, a sense of newfound strength coursing through her.

Around them, the white tiles of the cube trembled slightly, cracks forming on their pristine surfaces.

"It’s time," Sona had said firmly. Her small voice carried a surprising weight. "Let’s put the plan into action."

Ani had nodded resolutely, her gaze filled with resolve.

Present -

Back in the present, as Ani struggled against the wires that had ensnared her once more, Sona watched intently from her vantage point.

UV1’s unwavering focus on Ani was exactly what she had been counting on.

Sona raised both of her tiny hands, a flicker of concentration crossing her face. She activated her first skill—Nightmare.

Instantly, a thick, oppressive darkness engulfed UV1. His surroundings dissolved into an abyss, and confusion etched itself across his features.

He blinked, trying to make sense of the sudden shift, but the inky void refused to yield.

"What is happening?" UV1 muttered, his voice laced with frustration. "Where am I?"

Outside the nightmare, Sona observed his disorientation with grim satisfaction. She knew UV1 was no ordinary opponent.

He would undoubtedly find a way to break free, and quickly. She couldn’t afford to waste any time.

Switching tactics, Sona extended one hand toward the trembling tiles surrounding them. Her other hand activated her second skill—Telekinesis.

The shattered fragments of white tiles, sharp as daggers, rose into the air. With a flick of her wrist, she sent them hurtling toward UV1.

The shards streaked through the air with terrifying speed, their edges glinting in the dim light.

---

Inside the nightmare, UV1 felt the first shard pierce his body. Pain ripped through him as more shards followed, embedding themselves deep into his flesh. A cold, blue liquid seeped from the wounds—his blood.

The agony yanked him out of the nightmare, his vision clearing to reveal the battlefield once more.

He stumbled backward, one hand clutching his injured torso, the other gripping his arm. His breath came in ragged gasps, and his expression twisted with both pain and rage.

He planted a foot firmly on the ground, steadying himself, even as his injuries continued to bleed.

His eyes darted to Sona, whose glowing form hovered with defiant determination. She had drawn first blood.

Despite his injuries, UV1’s lips curled into a grim smile. He wasn’t done yet.

The hall was eerily quiet, save for the occasional sound of UV1’s ragged breathing.

His body was riddled with sharp fragments of white tiles, each piece embedded deep into his flesh.

Blue blood oozed from the wounds, pooling around him as he sat on the cold, hard floor, pain written across his face.

Despite the agony, his resolve remained unbroken.

Hovering above, Sona’s wings fluttered softly. Her small stature betrayed the determination burning in her glowing eyes.

She wasn’t done yet. Flying swiftly toward Ani, who was still bound by wires on the floor, Sona’s mission was clear—free Ani and get her out of there.

But Sona knew she couldn’t allow UV1 even a moment to recover.

She raised her hand, activating her Telekinesis skill once more. The wires that had been tightly wrapped around Ani just moments ago suddenly unraveled.

Like venomous snakes, they shot toward UV1, circling him with ferocious speed.

UV1, still clutching his bleeding wounds, looked up just in time to see the wires closing in on him. His face contorted in anger and frustration.

Grinding his teeth, he clenched his fists, summoning his strength.

With a guttural roar, he forced the wires to snap and fall apart, their fragments scattering across the hall.

---

Sona didn’t falter. The sight of UV1 breaking free didn’t deter her. She darted toward Ani, landing gracefully beside her fallen form.

Gently placing a hand on Ani’s shoulder, Sona whispered a single word: "Teleportation."

But before the teleportation could activate, UV1’s piercing gaze locked onto them. He extended his hand, and with a surge of his power, he disrupted Sona’s teleportation skill, deactivating it instantly.

Realizing what had happened, Sona turned her attention back to UV1.

"No...just once I get a chance to use my teleportation skill, I will get Ani out of here." Sona thought

The man was now standing, albeit shakily. His eyes burned with rage, and his voice boomed through the hall as he roared, "You won’t escape this time!"

The force of his voice echoed off the walls, sending shivers down Sona’s spine. She glanced at Ani, her expression a mixture of concern and urgency. They had to act fast.

---

For a moment, silence hung thick in the air. Sona scanned their surroundings, her sharp eyes darting around.

Nothing seemed to happen, and a flicker of doubt crossed her mind. ’Did his power fail?’ she wondered.

But then, the faint hum of something mechanical reached her ears. From the far end of the hall, dozens of laser guns emerged, floating menacingly in the air. The realization hit Sona and Ani simultaneously.

"It’s an attack," Sona muttered, her voice grim.

The lasers began to power up, their barrels glowing with lethal energy. Sona stepped in front of Ani, spreading her arms wide to shield her. Though her size was small compared to Ani’s, her determination was anything but.

Before the lasers could fire, UV1 raised his hand again, summoning more tiles from the floor. They rose and formed a protective cocoon around Ani, encasing her completely. The tiles clicked into place, creating an impenetrable barrier.

Sona glanced over her shoulder at Ani’s cocoon, then refocused on the lasers. She extended both hands, readying herself to intercept the attack. But she wasn’t fast enough.

The first laser beam fired, slicing through the air and striking Sona directly. The force of the impact hurled her backward. She crashed into the tile wall, her small body crumpling to the ground.

---

Sona lay motionless, her breathing shallow. Her once-bright wings were charred, the tips burned beyond recognition.

A faint golden glow seeped from the wound in her abdomen where the laser had pierced straight through. Golden blood pooled beneath her, staining the floor.

Despite her injuries, Sona’s lips moved faintly, forming silent words. ’Lord Adam... I need you...’

Before she could finish the thought, another laser beam struck the floor just inches from her.

The impact created a small explosion, sending shockwaves through the hall. Sona’s fragile form was thrown several feet away, landing with a sickening thud.

This time, she didn’t move. Her glowing eyes dimmed as unconsciousness claimed her. The hall fell into a heavy, oppressive silence once more.

Ani remained trapped, surrounded by tiles, unaware of Sona’s fate. UV1 stood tall, battered but victorious, his gaze fixed on the fallen figure of Sona.

The Chapter ends here, with the battlefield drenched in tension and despair.
