I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 70 - 69 Heavy Rain

Chapter 70: Chapter 69 Heavy Rain

Wei Tianyang flew back to the ambush point all the way. When he switched back to subjective reality, Starbucks suddenly looked at him inexplicably.

"Eh?" She was somewhat puzzled.

"What’s up?" Wei Tianyang countered.

"Just now, you weren’t facing backward, were you?" Starbucks said.

Wei Tianyang didn’t answer, skipping over the topic, and asked, "When do they plan to attack?"

"Yaha and Moby Dick have some disagreements," Starbucks replied.

Wei Tianyang looked toward the two men as the rain grew heavier. Moby Dick, wearing a green camouflage raincoat, became increasingly noticeable in the black mud. Yaha’s hair and coat were completely wet, but it didn’t seem to bother him.

He walked toward the two men while also pondering silently.

From Starbucks’s reaction, it was clear that Wei Tianyang’s method of entering and exiting objective reality, although also disregarding the passage of time, was based on completely different principles.

The Superpower Special Department’s method was more like "astral projection." When they returned to subjective reality, their actions didn’t change, and others couldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

However, when Wei Tianyang exited objective reality, the position of his body was consistent with the action he was performing at the time of exit. To Starbucks, he was facing forward one second, and the next second, he had suddenly turned around.

But this was not a major issue. At most, in the future, he would have to exit when no one was around. Besides, if they encountered an enemy that required high-mobility pursuit, even if the enemy noticed something amiss, it wouldn’t matter.

As Yaha saw Wei Tianyang approaching, it was as if he had a premonition, but he remained silent. Moby Dick was very cautious and moved away a little.

"It’s empty inside; they must have left," Wei Tianyang said.

"Left? Are you sure? Right... We’re also more than ten kilometers away from there; how do you know it’s empty inside?" Moby Dick asked.

"My superpower is the claws of a beast and a super sense of smell. There’s no human scent in that building," Wei Tianyang said.

Moby Dick squinted, trying to determine how credible that statement was. But, it was clear that he, too, had run out of patience. He came for a battle, and regardless of whether or not there were people inside, getting close and bombing the place, then sending people in was the plan.

After all, he didn’t have to charge into battle himself.

"Move out! Move out! You lazy bums! Cowards! You can’t even outdo a kid in his teens! Let’s go! We’ll drive there! Watson! Give me the satellite phone. That pilot’s coffee and doughnuts should be finished by now, right?! It’s time to work!!"

Moby Dick cursed, herding the infantry onto the vehicles with his foul language.

Everyone got into the vehicles, and the convoy spread out, each vehicle two kilometers apart, advancing toward the containment site.

The people of the Black House were all in the black boxy cars, and the rain pattering on the roof of the vans made a loud noise.

The black muddy wasteland was like surging waves, the towering containment site resembling a black whale breaching the water with its flukes. Their small cars, like vessels carrying whalers, bumped and jostled their way toward the giant whale.

Everyone was silent.

At that moment, Yaha suddenly asked, "Is it really empty inside?"

"There’s no one inside indeed, but I suspect that Tian Tai already knows about our surprise attack plan today. It’s possible it’s a ruse," Wei Tianyang said quietly.

Electromagnetic seized the moment to say, "Even if there’s a troop ambushed, I can hijack their electronic devices with my ability, and they’ll be blind."

"Let’s not use abilities for now, Sparky. Our air support is still on the way," Yaha reminded, then he looked at Wei Tianyang and asked, "What’s your plan?"

"I’m going to kill them all," Wei Tianyang said.

Everyone looked at him.

"Whether the radicals or the conservatives, none of them are good people. Moby Dick, the pharma man, deserves to die even more. If Tian Tai set an ambush, they go down too," Wei Tianyang said.

Yaha shook his head and said, "Don’t kill Moby Dick yet, we need him."

"Wait a minute, Yaha... I know Ishmael is formidable, but I don’t think he can take them all down by himself, and even with our help, it’s not going to work... Our firepower is not enough," Starbucks expressed her concerns.

Yaha smiled and remained silent, knowing what powers Wei Tianyang possessed.

"Moby Dick will make you pay the price sooner or later. Yaha, that man, I saw deceit in his eyes, a bone-deep evil emanating from him," Wei Tianyang said.

"Even so, now is not the time. Trust me, we’ll have the chance to do this, but not right now. He’s our ticket," Yaha said.

Wei Tianyang sighed and said, "Is it possible that we are the ticket? We are the ones to be used and then discarded!"

"Who’s the ticket will depend on the situation. It’s mutual," Yaha said.

Wei Tianyang, seeing he couldn’t persuade Yaha, stopped trying and cursed to himself that he’d simply kill them when the time came.

A shrill whistling sound soared over the car roof; everyone squeezed forward against the windshield, gazing ahead.

A white fighter jet streaked overhead, just a few dozen meters above their heads—a very low altitude for a jet fighter.

It was different from the one that had bombed the factory.

The jet dashed toward the containment site, dropping ground-to-air bombs on the ground outside the base. Wei Tianyang couldn’t make out how many, but he saw a cloud of black dust rise near the base, height challenging even the mid-section of the chains on the buildings.

After passing over the containment site, the jet climbed steeply, broke into the clouds, circled back, and then flew towards them again.

The second aerial assault kicked up clouds of black earth once more.

Then, it flew over their heads, heading home.

"That’s it?" asked Electromagnetic Wave, astonished.

"It’s the distance, wait until we get closer, then you’ll see the power. Only... it’s not as deadly as the last time’s thermobaric bombs," replied Starbucks.

Their car was just 1 kilometer from the containment site, and now they could see the craters on the ground, but the building itself wasn’t affected by the blast; they didn’t want to destroy the files and Heavenly Falling Objects suspended inside.

After getting out of the car, the infantry switched to combat mode, and the mortar crew began their second round of bombardment.

This time, the mortar shells hammered the high walls of the base, and they tried hard to hit the platform above, probably aiming to destroy helicopters or such vehicles first.

Moby Dick’s car was in the rear; he was protected by his bodyguards, approximately four or five kilometers from the building.

The infantry charged in first, and Wei Tianyang and his group moved in as well; with Watson and four bodyguards trailing at the rear as supervisory personnel.

Unlike others, Wei Tianyang seemed to stroll leisurely; after all, he had been here before and was fully aware of the situation inside.

The building was indeed empty, the computers’ hard drives were destroyed, documents were burned, only the large iron spheres wrapping the Heavenly Falling Objects remained.

And that big iron sphere... was empty as well...

Wei Tianyang suspected that if Tiantai had the capability, they would have taken it too, but the situation had changed in the war, causing Tiantai to lose the ability to transport the Heavenly Falling Objects.

After all, the sphere was massive... without several heavy transport helicopters, it was impossible to move.

They gathered on the building’s rooftop platform, and beneath their feet was the large sphere suspended by dozens of chains.

"Yes, it’s empty. The object is still here. The lab equipment is destroyed, but we’ve found some paper documents..." Watson was reporting over the phone.

The others remained on guard, while Wei Tianyang walked to the edge and observed the wilderness surrounding the building.

The rain made it impossible for him to smell anything, and moreover, the downpour turned from moderate rain to a torrential deluge, with thunder rumbling across the sky.

"You guys go inside to avoid the rain," Wei Tianyang said to Yaha.

"What about you?" Yaha started to speak, but the rain suddenly stopped.

"Hahaha~ so much for the weather forecast," Yaha said, pulling out his smartphone.

The thunder continued to roar, the rain ceased, and with a brisk wind blowing, Wei Tianyang looked up at the sky.

Dark clouds clustered, that same grey expanse still floating overhead, but the vast amount of rainwater was held mid-air, forming a thin curtain of water.

He looked into the distance again; the rain was still falling, droplets splashing into the black mud, creating little splashes.

Looking upwards again, the water curtain thickened, as if some force above was damming the rainfall of the entire region, accumulating it.

The water curtain grew denser, and this bizarre phenomenon caught the attention of the radical soldiers.

They laughed, pointing at the sky, joking with each other, commenting on the unprecedented sight.

Wei Tianyang turned his head and scanned the mortar positions on the distant hills.

Those people were all lying on the ground.

On the dirt mounds stood a figure in black attire.

"Yaha! Take them inside!!!" bellowed Wei Tianyang.

The next moment, as if from a skyscraper, the column of water cascaded down, thousands of tons of rainwater crashing onto the platform.
