I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 571 - 569 Rebellion

Chapter 571: Chapter 569 Rebellion

In July 2124, end of the month.

Yin Country, 7 PM, in the new capital, Luo Fengyang.

The Grand Duke’s mansion was bustling with activity; today was Li Lianhua’s 60th birthday. Key families from the city’s core circles were all present to show their support. Waiters were busy in the mansion’s courtyard corridors, guests socialized on the lawns outside the mansion, with many others engaging in conversation in the grand hall.

At a buffet, a female waiter passed by a server holding a tray of drinks and subtly slipped a small note into his hand.

The server acknowledged the gesture, clutching the note as he walked into the grand hall, moving through the crowd, and went straight upstairs to a room.

In the upstairs corridor where many guests were seated and chatting on benches, he continued to hold his drink tray for guests to take a drink. At that moment, a restrained man approached and said, "I’ll have one, please."

The server turned slightly, switched the tray to his other hand, and deftly handed the man the note.

The man took a drink, tilted his head back to finish it, and then headed to the restroom.

He randomly picked a stall, shut the door, and unfolded the note.

It read: "3rd floor, left side, fourth room, 9:30 PM."

That was the time and place for Li Lianhua’s meeting with several key families.

The man disposed of the note in the toilet, pressed the flush button, and sent it down the drain.

The time and place were now in his possession; next, he needed to secure a weapon.

After Zhao Ling’s death, Yin Country faced troubling foreign affairs. Venerable Qin had seized power, indulging in pleasures, making concessions to the Western world, and allowing his cronies to run rampant.

The country’s governance was in shambles, and the populace suffered terribly. Within the court and field, some political factions loyal to Zhao Ling plotted a political rebellion.

At present, all affairs, major or minor, in Yin Country were dictated by Li Lianhua, the Grand Duke. He was nominally just Venerable Qin’s close aide, but with Venerable Qin aged and frail and no longer attending to state matters, Li Lianhua had essentially become the de facto ruler of the nation.

Though he lacked the official title of Emperor, he wielded the authority under the pretense of Qiansui, dominating the court, and no one dared oppose him directly.

To overthrow him, assassination was the only option left.

The man left the room and made his way toward the kitchen.

To assassinate Li Lianhua in the Grand Duke’s mansion meant coming to terms with a likely mutual destruction. The entire estate was patrolled by the Superpower Special Department, and Li Lianhua had a life safety chip implanted. Should any of his vital readings drop suddenly, the mansion would lock down into a state of emergency.

At that point, it wouldn’t just be difficult to escape; it would be impossible to find any exit.

But to save his homeland, this sacrifice was necessary.

The man entered the kitchen where chefs busied themselves with preparing the dinner. They paid no attention to him.

The head chef glanced at the man then walked over to the trash cans, instructing some waiters to clean up the garbage.

The waiters pushed the trash cans to the back corridor. Before leaving, one of them kicked the blue trash can.

The man followed discreetly. He rifled through the blue trash can for a moment, retrieving a small pistol.

The pistol was made of plastic, contained no metal parts, and was only the size of a palm with just enough room to load a single bullet, which allowed its handle to fold.

This was the weapon they had finally managed to bring into the mansion, it only had an effective range of 10 meters and a single bullet, but if they got close enough, killing Li Lianhua wouldn’t be a problem.

The man tucked the pistol into his pocket and returned to the lobby, where he found a long bench to sit on and pass the time, waiting for the moment to arrive.

Whether the assassination would succeed or not depended on whether he could get close to that room.

In fact, he had already resolved to die, so, if necessary, as soon as Li Lianhua appeared before him, he would charge forward and shoot him dead.

However, the Superpower Special Department was present both inside the lobby and around the mansion, and if his actions were too rash, he would definitely be restrained on the spot. Waiting for Li Lianhua to enter the room would increase the chances of success.

While waiting, the man slowly slipped into his memories, as if reliving his life of over 30 years in another form of the final moments of life. When he returned to reality, he had nothing more to worry about.

After a long wait, Li Lianhua and several family patriarchs entered the lobby, raising the man’s alertness and his adrenaline soared to its peak.

The security personnel in the lobby gathered towards Li Lianhua, but it wasn’t enough to surround him. Li Lianhua, dressed in dark purple silk, wearing auspicious cloud shoes, chatted and laughed with the high-ranking family members next to him.

The man’s teeth itched with hatred. Li Lianhua’s wealth, accumulated by exploiting the people, was squandered daily. Facing his countrymen, he struck hard, but towards Westerners, he groveled. The familial elites under his control dominated the nation’s economic arteries; even a well-organized people’s militia was purged by him, leaving only those willing to become his private soldiers.

Leaving him alive would bring a curse for thousands of years. The country would not prosper with him in power. Kill them! Kill them all!

The man forcefully suppressed his rage, keeping his expression from turning ferocious. He stood up, walked to a nearby long table, picked up a small plate, pretended to take some cake, but his gaze never left Li Lianhua.

Then, Li Lianhua and several family elders walked lightly up the stairs. The man put down his plate and followed them up as well.

Bodyguards stood at the stairway on the second floor, which the man had anticipated. He had prepared another route.

Just then, a server walked by. The server glanced at the man and subtly dropped a key on the carpet as he passed by.

The man picked up the key, checked the label, then headed to the end of the hallway on the second floor and unlocked the door to the study, arriving on the balcony on the back side of the mansion.

The man looked down at the dark flower garden below the railing. Beyond the surrounding wall was a pitch-black forest, and further still, the city lights below the hill.

The man climbed onto the balcony railing and reached up to grab the edge of the third-floor balcony. He swung twice, using the momentum to climb up and land inside the balcony.

After entering through the door, the man heard voices talking from the next room.

This was the place.

The man pulled out the pistol, walked to the room entrance, and unlocked the door, then surveyed the hallway.

The third floor had been cleared out; the bodyguards were still at the stairway. The opportunity was right before him.

The man stepped out, gently closed the door behind him, and tiptoed to the door of the adjacent room.

Light seeped from beneath the door, tinted orange; Li Lianhua was laughing inside.

The man took several deep breaths, a thought of retreat surged, but he quickly suppressed it. The arrow was already on the bow, he had to shoot!

The man twisted the door handle, swiftly entered the room, and saw Li Lianhua sitting on the couch, surrounded by six patriarchs.

Li Lianhua was startled by the intrusion, but the next second, the man raised the pistol aimed at his forehead.

"Fuck you!"

Bang!
