I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 550 - 548 Escaping
Chapter 550: Chapter 548 Escaping
Wei Tianyang landed on top of the forest, dusted off his hands, and entire swathes of trees were uprooted and thrown hundreds of meters away.
The lower half of a white object remained lodged in the pitch-black mud, surrounded by dense mudholes.
Pink fluid and some whitish organs oozed out from between the pelvic bones of the lower half, but not much.
Wei Tianyang approached the remnants of the white object. Roughly measuring from the sky, this thing was about as big as he was when he transformed into the Black Giant. The entire leg, as seen from the ground, was as high as a white wall. He reached out and touched the remnants, but felt no change.
The limb didn’t turn into black mist, nor was it absorbed by him.
It was still alive, the thing hadn’t died, so its abilities were still intact within it.
Wei Tianyang was somewhat annoyed, but he couldn’t figure out how the creature could still be alive without its lower half, perhaps, it was struggling at death’s door somewhere? He decided to stand and wait a while, for it to die somewhere.
However, after more than ten minutes, Wei Tianyang still hadn’t absorbed the abilities of the white object.
Wei Tianyang slowly ascended and examined the half-limb. Judging from the exposed organs, most of the white object’s viscera must still be in the upper half of the body. Had he only lifted his gaze a bit higher earlier, perhaps there wouldn’t have been so many issues. He flew to the clouds and searched the surroundings, but found no trace of the white object.
He flew back to the limb, and upon reconsideration, since the white object was already cut in half, it definitely couldn’t escape once he found it again. And perhaps his research team could derive something from this mutilated limb.
Wei Tianyang then brought the limb into objective reality and then flew back to Pei Guode Hotel and asked Ruan Yu to have the Dead Soldiers go to Gambia for recovery operations.
On the other side.
Lin Yan had recovered some spirit and found herself lying in the back seat of an off-road vehicle, which was bumping along the road. The bright, cloudless sky seemed to be stationary, with only the noisy engine reminding her that the vehicle was moving at high speed.
Lin Yan suddenly sat up, a wave of nausea surged in her throat. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and patted her chest.
Wang Ye was driving, and Leng Kai, hearing the commotion behind, turned to look at her.
"How do you feel?!" shouted Leng Kai.
"What happened? What happened afterward? Where are we?!" Lin Yan also shouted.
This convertible off-road vehicle wasn’t the one they had driven here; it belonged to the local government army.
"He touched you once! Then you fainted!!" Leng Kai said.
Lin Yan recalled entering objective reality and remembered the white object, exclaiming, "Where is it?!"
"He flew away! Never came back!" Leng Kai said.
"I’m talking about the White King!" Lin Yan said.
"I don’t know! We didn’t see it!" Leng Kai said.
Lin Yan didn’t say more, gradually piecing together the truth—Wei Tianyang had pulled her into objective reality, and from what Leng Kai said, time inside seemed to flow differently from the outside.
"He took it away...?" Lin Yan worried.
"It doesn’t look like it; his hands were empty when he left, but he seemed in a hurry," Leng Kai said.
"He’s chasing it! We must find the White King before he does!" Lin Yan said.
She hurriedly took out her phone, thought for a moment, and decided not to contact the foundation first but instead called Li Xianping.
"Professor?! Don’t go to the foundation research building during this period; just stay at your residence!" she urged as soon as the other party answered.
"What happened?" Li Xianping asked.
"I met him! He will retaliate against the foundation. I can’t say more. He might be arriving soon!" Lin Yan said.
Leng Kai saw Lin Yan making a call and turned away, while Wang Ye continued to drive. He then asked, "Do you want me to take over driving?"
Wang Ye shook his head, his brows furrowed, as if troubled.
"What are you thinking?" asked Leng Kai.
"This mission isn’t quite reasonable," Wang Ye said.
"I feel the same. We’re not from the same system, yet we were grouped together and sent here. What did they tell you?" Leng Kai asked.
"They said I had experience in dealing with this kind of situation," Wang Ye said.
After a moment, he glanced at Leng Kai and continued, "That’s bullshit. Against that thing, mortals can do nothing, not even the Trinity; there’s no other way but to find him."
Wang Ye continued, "Are we really just cannon fodder? Why were we chosen?"
Leng Kai sighed, "We’re just unlucky; maybe, in their view, we’re expendable."
"Expendable? I don’t think this qualifies as a sacrifice; they sent the Trinity here but didn’t tell us. They want to test that thing’s superpowers on us, or at the very least, use us as bait," Wang Ye said.
"Which unit were you in back in Yin Country?" Leng Kai suddenly asked.
"I was a medic in the Central Military Region’s field camp," Wang Ye said.
"I was in the Central Military Region too! But I was in the reconnaissance company, and, moreover, I had retired before that night in Fengrao City," Leng Kai said.
"We didn’t catch a good time, Leng Kai. There’s no mission left for us in this world, just dirty work," Wang Ye said.
"Fight to the end, until the mission is accomplished, heh," Leng Kai said.
"Regular armies are already meaningless, who else can we fight apart from those civilians? Terrorists are all on Black Medicine now; soon, superpower users will be everywhere in the world," Wang Ye said.
"Is that what you’re thinking about?" Leng Kai laughed.
"I’m thinking, what’s the point of me insisting on staying? I should have been dead, but the army gave me a chance, and I was willing to dedicate myself to that mission, but in the end, that mission vanished too... They gave me medals, and now they want me to go on a suicide mission; I can’t figure it out," Wang Ye said.
"We could also apply to join that superpower program, become super soldiers. Besides, he’s out there; you saw him too, he’s dangerous, we can’t just stand by and do nothing," Leng Kai said.
"I don’t know, the things he spoke of aren’t all wrong; I can understand him, though only a small part," Wang Ye said.
"Don’t get swayed by him! I’ve heard quite a bit about his deeds before, but from the few times I’ve met him, I think he has no concept of a team or friends; he’s a major threat," Leng Kai said.
"I’m not sure, the council’s troops don’t have answers for me, I don’t have a mission here anymore," Wang Ye said.
"You’re not... thinking of retiring, are you?" Leng Kai asked.
Wang Ye shifted gears without responding, stepped on the accelerator, and Leng Kai was pushed back into his seat.
The car headed towards the port where the council’s ship was waiting; a drone flew across the sky as the foundation closely monitored everything.
