Chapter 537: Chapter 535: Soft-heartedness Doesn’t Lead to Great Achievements

The last weekend of 2121.

Seychelles Waters.

Six large drilling platforms stood above the sea surface, connected by iron bridges, making it appear to be a typical offshore oil drilling platform. In reality, it had been completely militarized.

The days of waiting hadn’t been in vain, Rada Gan had done well. Now, they possessed a kingdom independent from the mainland, where funds circulated through shell companies, Black Medicine experimentation materials, and Heavenly Falling Objects were transported by the deceased from objective reality, all highly covert.

Rada Gan had purchased several decommissioned cruisers to serve as guards for the drilling platforms and also bought more than a dozen armed helicopters, parked on the helipads.

All of Johnny’s research team had been transferred to the drilling platforms, which for them, became a lifelong prison. Wei Tianyang had already planned their end; once the desired drug was developed, everything here, including their lives, would be destroyed.

The drug capable of gradually reducing and eliminating the Superpower users’ dependency on the antidote had undergone several modifications, and he and Yaha, led by Rada Gan, had visited the platform’s interior. Work had commenced the second week after the personnel were transferred here.

When he and Rada Gan arrived at the largest laboratory, all the scientists stopped their work and stood facing them, watching nervously and uneasily.

These people were not believers, they worked only under the compulsion of their own violence.

Thus, they couldn’t be considered confidants.

Wei Tianyang briefly looked around and then left the laboratory, subsequently heading to the armed forces’ platform.

Most of these men were Black, hired by Rada Gan from the coastal countries nearby, working as PMC.

Rada Gan told him that these men didn’t yet know for whom they were working; they just thought they were working for an underground pharmaceutical company. Whoever paid them, they would work for; they were expendable.

Wei Tianyang didn’t think the platform required armed forces since if someone were to attack here, these armed forces wouldn’t be of much use; he would ultimately need to step in. However, upon reflection, since these men could also be used as experimental materials, he raised no objections.

Standing on the edge of the platform, looking out at the ocean, endless and undulating, Wei Tianyang felt a smallness akin to the sensation he experienced while floating in space.

Whether or not he transformed into a black giant, both the sea and the universe prompted reflections on his insignificance, and the rolling waves only deepened this feeling.

On the sea level, two large ships approached.

Wei Tianyang looked towards Rada Gan.

"These are the first batch of Medicine People brought here to test the new antidote cycle," Rada Gan explained.

"They don’t look like cargo ships or cruise ships, and are unlike any I’ve seen before," Wei Tianyang commented.

"They’re whaling ships bought from Churi Country. Starting in the mid-21st century, the whaling industry was banned by global animal protection and marine organizations, and these two great ships were decommissioned. I bought them to transport the Medicine People," Rada Gan explained.

"In the 19th century, the Federation’s whaling industry was thriving; whale oil was the main fuel source then, used from table lamps to the hair oil the King applied on his head, all refined from whale oil. After the discovery of oil, whales became protected animals," Wei Tianyang commented.

"Times have changed. Until the end of the 21st century, Churi Country maintained the tradition of whaling, one of the few countries where whale meat could be easily purchased domestically. Eventually, due to international organization pressure... actually due to whales nearing extinction and marine pollution issues, they were forced to abandon whaling," Rada Gan explained.

"Humans have always been scavengers, surviving on other animals’ carcasses, cultivating soils with animals’ feces, using oil made from ancient animal remains as energy... And now, relying on corpses fallen from the sky for superpower drugs," Wei Tianyang commented.

Rada Gan and Yaha stood by, remaining silent.

Wei Tianyang turned and asked, "Where did this batch of Medicine People come from? War refugees?"

"Partially, some others are those who tried to illegally cross borders to go abroad," Rada Gan replied.

"Runaways? From where?" Wei Tianyang asked, intrigued.

He had seen two of them in Yixu and Federation.

"They are all from Yin Country, where the borders are currently closed. The wealthy left directly, while the poor sold their properties and paid hefty fees to get on board, hiding in cargo holds and containers, hoping to change their destinies," Rada Gan said.

Wei Tianyang sneered.

Two whaling ships had already arrived at the dock of the platform, and four cruisers had surrounded them. Wei Tianyang saw many men and women being pointed at with guns by armed personnel, climbing up the vertical ladder onto the platform.

Now, he understood what the armed personnel were for.

All of the Medicine People were gathered by armed soldiers on the opposite platform, with the two whaling ships parked below.

Wei Tianyang, along with Rada Gan and Yaha, crossed the bridge to watch.

These Medicine People were the first group to arrive at this platform. They were scantily clad, hadn’t bathed in days, smelled bad, and Wei Tianyang noticed they ranged in age from young adults in their early twenties to the oldest in their forties or fifties. Among them, there were also three children.

When Wei Tianyang appeared on the platform, the African soldiers didn’t recognize him, but seeing Rada Gan beside him, they realized he was a leader and snapped to attention, saluting him.

Wei Tianyang said sarcastically, "PMC saluting? You think too highly of yourselves."

Since he spoke in Yin language, the African PMC didn’t understand and remained silent. The group of Medicine People, however, did understand and all turned to look at him.

Wei Tianyang pointed to a child in the crowd.

Rada Gan thought he wanted to take the children with them and was about to instruct the PMC.

But Wei Tianyang said, "That boy is nearly dead, he holds no value for experimentation."

Yaha shuddered.

"By the Virgin Mary, you should be able to cure him," Yaha whispered.

"Yaha, we are not superheroes. We were once the dead crawling out of Hell, nobody saved us, kindness comes at a cost," Wei Tianyang said.

Yaha nodded, then turned away.

The African PMC dragged the frail child out, his father gripping his arm, not letting go, but was quickly knocked to the ground with a rifle butt.

The PMC was about to shoot the father when Wei Tianyang shouted angrily, "If you kill him, you take his place in the experiment!"

The PMC’s face filled with fear, and he quickly backed off.

Rada Gan pursed his lips, not daring to speak, but gestured for the soldiers to act quickly.

The child was lying sideways on the deck, expressionless, watching Wei Tianyang; then, a black soldier picked him up, walked to the edge of the platform, and threw him overboard.

The child was too small; even the splash he made was minuscule, and after a wave passed, he was no longer visible.

Wei Tianyang turned around, embracing Yaha, knowing he was feeling unwell inside.

"Yaha... listen to me, Yaha, all of this is a necessary price to pay, soft-heartedness won’t achieve great deeds," he said.

Yaha looked at him, his mind blank, struggling to calm down for a long time. The cruelty of this world had ultimately devoured the man before him.

He had climbed out of Hell once, and now, he had returned to Hell.
