Chapter 530: Chapter 528: The Watcher

Pence looked through the office window and saw the helicopter taking off from the rooftop helipad.

Wei Tianyang was to board it to the Army base and then transfer to an Air Force cargo plane headed for North Carolosna.

Even though a direct flight might take him less than half an hour to reach the destination, he still chose to travel by plane at a leisurely pace.

Pence did not know why Wei Tianyang decided so, but he found it quite abnormal.

He took out his phone and called Commander Lu.

"He’s already on his way, will arrive in 6 hours," Pence said.

"6 hours? He’s not flying directly?" Commander Lu asked.

"He has his reasons, perhaps. Can you arrange someone to follow him? That can be done, right?" Pence said.

"It’s likely that person won’t survive," Commander Lu replied.

"We need to be sure about what he’s really planning. Honestly, I’m not certain whether we and he are still allies," Pence said.

"You were just considering awarding him a medal last time," Commander Lu reminded.

"What else could I do? I’m not Helena Mina. The medals we award him are nothing more than worthless little iron pieces in his eyes. If he’s plotting against us... we need to know in advance," Pence stated.

"I’ll send a team to ’support’ him if he refuses, there might not be much we can do," Commander Lu said.

"Let’s do that, it’s better than doing nothing," Pence replied.

"Hmm." Commander Lu chuckled.

He hung up the phone, still somewhat worried.

hours later. 12:00 noon.

Far away in North Carolosna, Wang Ye’s troop had already entered the Rangers’ temporary camp, with the gigantic Heavenly Falling Objects 20 kilometers away from the camp, yet they seemed to loom just in front of them.

Wang Ye had already noticed that their arrival was not welcomed, as the Rangers were looking at them with wary and annoyed eyes.

They had just entered the camp when three officers blocked their way.

"I am Captain Mike Tangli, the commanding officer of this camp, and these are my deputies," Mike Tangli saluted and said.

The company commander of Wang Ye’s unit returned the salute and then said, "I am Captain Heins. According to orders, my company will be integrated into your combat sequence, though I retain command authority."

"Turn off any cameras on you, and don’t activate any combat recorders. Your combat UI server must be handed over to our personnel for inspection," Mike Tangli ordered.

"I haven’t received such orders, and you should be aware that the combat UI server contains each unit’s confidential data, including mission objectives, routes, personnel deployment, and so on..." Heins was somewhat puzzled.

"Screw your orders, foreigner. This is our turf, and you’re on our camp ground. I’ve already shown you a lot of respect by not ordering the disarmament of your weapons. Either obey or get out," Mike Tangli said with a smile.

Heins was somewhat angered and, from behind him, several soldiers stepped forward wanting to argue. The Rangers, however, all raised their guns aiming at the Black Medicine Army.

"Get back in formation!" Heins ordered.

The soldiers had no choice but to comply.

Mike Tangli said, "Just sit in the back and watch. We can handle this thing ourselves. If any of you dare..."

He hadn’t finished his sentence when Wang Ye stepped forward and threw a punch at his face.

The fist grazed Mike Tangli’s cheek and pushed his prominent nose to the other side of his face. He spun around and then fell to the ground.

Mike Tangli, with a face full of rage, looked up, blood seeping from his nostrils.

"You motherfucker..." he yelled as the Rangers all rushed over.

Heins pushed Wang Ye behind him, and the Black Medicine Army soldiers also raised their guns, aiming in all directions at the Rangers. The scene suddenly became extremely tense.

"Go on, shoot, asshole!"

"Go fuck your old hag! Shoot! Shoot!"

"Put the guns down! Down!"

"Fuck your mother!"

As the soldiers argued, a military helicopter suddenly arrived overhead at the camp.

Everyone looked up to recognize it as a Federal Air Force transport helicopter.

"Who’s coming now?" Mike Tangli said, being helped up by his men from the ground.

"Back off!" the cabin door of the plane opened slowly, and several special agents in gray uniforms shouted down.

A heatwave blew across the helipad, the propellers slowed, and a man dressed in desert camouflage leisurely jumped out of the plane, a Gauss rifle slung at his waist, without a bulletproof vest.

Wei Tianyang set foot on the sandy ground, stretched lazily, but then noticed everyone in the camp pointing guns at each other, the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

What are these people doing? The big thing is just within reach, do they really want to fight amongst themselves with danger at their heels?

"Who’s that?" wondered Mike Tangli.

At that moment, the voice of the commander came through his headset: "Keep your team in position. Wei Tianyang will handle this situation. Also, tell them not to approach him..."

Mike Tangli was startled and then, as if reacting instinctively, quickly spread his arms and shouted to the Rangers, "Back to your posts! Ladies! We’ve got work to do!!"

The soldiers, exchanging glances, could only put down their guns and disperse the encirclement, while the Black Medicine Army remained vigilant.

Wang Ye, seeing the man who had walked down from the helicopter far away, found him familiar. Da Gu came up and said, "Look! Is that him?"

Before they could get a clearer view, Heins suddenly ordered the whole team to the tents, so they had no choice but to follow the team and leave.

Mike Tangli wiped his nose with a tissue and quickly walked towards Wei Tianyang, but saw that the other party had no intention of paying him any attention, simply standing there gazing at the massive Heavenly Falling Object. So, he tactfully abandoned the idea of shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries.

"It’s been almost 10 hours now. It’s just standing there, looking up at the sky," he said, standing beside Wei Tianyang.

The camp was quite distant from the colossal object, and Wei Tianyang couldn’t use voice transmission to communicate with it. He still couldn’t ascertain its intentions. Was it an adversary like Lilith, a potential ally hoping to defect like Da Leba and Mike, or just a pure destroyer with no desire to communicate? He’d need to get closer to find out.

Beside him, the camp’s commanding officer continued to prattle on annoyingly.

"...In fact, we can handle this ourselves. The Federation Army has fought and won countless wars over the past hundred years..." said Mike Tangli.

"I’ve read some books about the Gonnan War. Didn’t the Sethiyan Federation Army have to withdraw?" said Wei Tianyang suddenly.

Mike Tangli smiled and said, "We didn’t withdraw, we just stopped fighting. The initiative is still in our hands."

"Quitting is the same as failing," Wei Tianyang said with a smile.
