I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 517 - 515: Teratoma

Chapter 517: Chapter 515: Teratoma

At night, Lin Yan had just finished her research for the day. She made two cups of coffee with a coffee maker, preparing to take them to Li Xianping’s lab.

In a corner of the lab, there was a vertical glass jar filled with nutrient solution and artificial amniotic fluid, inside which a huge womb floated.

Over the past month, since the womb had been removed from Fujiwara Makoto’s body, it had shown no signs of failure like that kidney had; instead, after being mixed with Black Medicine and sperm, it had actually performed its inherent duty. The fetus inside was slowly growing.

The speed was too fast.

The womb now had the size of a basketball, which based on a pregnant woman’s standard, clearly corresponded to the sixth month of pregnancy.

The dark red uterus pulsated in the amniotic fluid, and through the thin, blood-veined flesh walls, one could see a small, black humanoid figure curled up inside.

Lin Yan stood in front of the glass jar, captivated, when Li Xianping entered the room.

"Lin Yan!" Li Xianping called.

Lin Yan snapped back to reality, holding the coffee cups she smiled, "Professor, I was just about to come find you. Here, have some coffee. Look at the fetus inside this uterus—it’s growing so fast, I estimate that it will be born next month."

"Let’s not talk about that now, come quick and see Fujiwara Makoto!" Li Xianping urged.

She put down the coffee and, together with Li Xianping, quickly walked out of the lab to the main research hall.

Fujiwara Makoto had been in a deep sleep ever since her capture; her brain was nearly half-dead though her body was still alive, and she had been used as experiment material over these years.

But now, this living corpse had started to show signs of unrest, as the three brainwave lines that should have been stable suddenly began to fluctuate on the monitor.

Both of them knew what this meant.

Fujiwara Makoto’s brain status was represented by five lines on the brainwave monitor: personality consciousness, imagination, pain perception, dreams, and memory. To maintain her vitality while preventing her from waking up, the foundation had blocked all states except for dreams.

She should have been trapped in a chaotic dream without consciousness or sense of self for a long time, but now, personality consciousness, imagination, and dreams were all fluctuating together.

This meant that Fujiwara Makoto had awoken in her subconscious, in her dreams.

Looking at the woman with closed eyes inside the sealed container, Li Xianping said, "Her brain’s memory region has not been activated yet, so even though she has awoken in her dreams, she doesn’t know who she is or that she’s dreaming. But I worry that eventually she will fully awaken."

"Could it be due to long-term use of the drug, has her body developed a resistance? But that seems unlikely... Many vegetative patients have used drugs for decades without developing resistance," Lin Yan said.

Li Xianping nodded, "We’ve been using suppressive drugs on her for about three or four years, right? She has superpowers; she isn’t just an ordinary person."

"When did her brain start showing activity? Was it tonight?" Lin Yan frowned, thinking.

"Yeah, gather the other team members. We need an emergency meeting! If she truly awakens, no one will be able to control her," Li Xianping said.

Lin Yan nodded; she understood too well. This woman had the superpower of Illusion Creation, capable of crafting all forms of entities, even living people. If she just opened her eyes, the whole lab could be in jeopardy.

Lin Yan and Li Xianping walked quickly toward the meeting room. At that moment, Fujiwara Makoto’s eyelids twitched.

Outside, the snowstorm had yet to stop, and in the wooden cabin, the digital flames in the electronic fireplace continued to crackle.

Suddenly, Fujiwara Makoto sat up from the table as if she had just had a very long dream, touching her face and yawning.

"What’s going on?" she murmured in surprise, with no recollection of why she was there.

The cabin seemed familiar, as though it were an important fragment from her memory, but she couldn’t remember at all.

She got up and walked to the window. Outside was a cold snowy night; snowflakes covered half of the window, yet the interior was exceptionally warm.

The small hall she was in was a kitchenette, equipped with an induction cooker and a stove, along with some kitchenware. There was no door from the kitchen to the living room, just a curtain hanging in the doorway.

Fujiwara Makoto pulled aside the plastic curtain and saw a woman sitting on a sofa in the main hall, browsing a tablet beside the electronic fireplace.

The woman, dressed in a black turtleneck sweater with a good figure and long black hair, was crossing her legs.

"Um..." Fujiwara Makoto greeted her, using Japanese.

The woman turned her head to look, revealing a mature and beautiful face.

"Um... you... who are you?" Fujiwara Makoto asked.

"I don’t know, how about you?" the woman smiled.

"Me? I am... I... who am I...?" Fujiwara Makoto was startled, having forgotten her own name.

"Odd, you don’t know your name either?" the woman smiled.

"Ah, I... I don’t even know why I’m here or where this place is..." Fujiwara Makoto touched the back of her head.

"Since you don’t know, I also don’t know, but clearly, this place and the things that have happened here are real, aren’t they?" the woman said.

"I don’t know, I’m not sure," Fujiwara Makoto replied.

"You must be sure, it’s important," the woman said.

Fujiwara Makoto looked to her left, where a small staircase led to the second floor.

"What’s up there?" Fujiwara Makoto asked.

"You know, you have an impression, right?" the woman smiled.

"The whole world fears him," Fujiwara Makoto said subconsciously.

"Hmm? What have you remembered?" the woman smiled.

"I... I remember a bit, but it’s very vague," Fujiwara Makoto replied.

She walked toward the staircase, but the woman stopped her.

"Prepare yourself mentally before you go up," the woman smiled.

"Oh? What will happen?" Fujiwara Makoto asked.

"It seems like something else has come in here, and in the room, it might not be him," the woman said.

"I don’t understand, and what you say seems like it’s not... my language... I don’t even know what language I am speaking... This feels so strange," Fujiwara Makoto said.

"Your memory is sealed, not forgotten, got it?" the woman said.

"Who exactly are you? Where am I?" Fujiwara Makoto asked.

"I can’t know what you don’t know, why don’t you go upstairs and see?" the woman said.

Fujiwara Makoto no longer paid attention to the woman; she climbed the stairs anxiously and saw a door fitted with a numeric lock.

She tried to unlock it with her fingerprint, and to her surprise, the door actually opened.

Inside was a small bedroom, unlit, with something lying under the bed covers.

"Hey? You... who are you?" Fujiwara Makoto asked into the room.

The person on the bed slowly sat up and yawned.

"Uh... sorry to wake you. You... who are you?" Fujiwara Makoto asked.

The person turned their face toward her, and she saw seven red diamond-shaped eyes in the darkness.

"Ah!!!" Fujiwara Makoto screamed in fright.

The person suddenly grew larger, the entire room bursting apart as the huge white body expanded, but outside, it turned into a white void.

The giant creature’s hand touched Fujiwara Makoto’s forehead, and in that instant, she remembered everything.

"How scary, you are all so scary," the creature’s voice permeated directly into Fujiwara Makoto’s mind.

"You!? Who are you!!!" Fujiwara Makoto tried to scream but felt as if her throat hadn’t been used for half the world’s time, unable to make a sound.

In that moment, within this sealed container, the girl opened her eyes.
