I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 506 - 504: Granted Audience
Chapter 506: Chapter 504: Granted Audience
Wei Tianyang’s four pupils flickered with red light, capturing all spectrums of light; invisibility was no match for him.
The surrounding mountains transformed into gray in his sight, and the sky turned into pitch black. A twisted colossus in bright blue lay sprawled in distant mountain canyons.
"Slow! Slow! Slow! Communicate!"
Continuous voices echoed in his mind.
"Wait a moment! The horned one!" Baphomet also transmitted its voice.
Wei Tianyang turned around, allowing his vision to return to normal. At that moment, he saw the diminutive Baphomet continuously hopping on a mountain top’s clearing, trying to catch his attention.
Beside Baphomet, a segmented worm with half its body destroyed clung to the cliffside. Its body was slowly regenerating, thin membranes wrapping around bits of flesh and tissue, inexplicably growing out of nothing.
"What’s going on? Do you know them?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"They just told me they aren’t here to challenge you, but to seek refuge," Baphomet replied.
In the distance, the intact segmented worm hid behind a mountain peak, seemingly waiting.
"Seek refuge from me? What do they think Earth is? A shelter? What kind of refuge are they seeking?" Wei Tianyang asked.
The segmented worm transmitted a complicated and difficult-to-pronounce syllable to Wei Tianyang.
Baphomet heard it too and then explained, "They’re talking about Lilith. Her arrival has made many inhabitants aware of this place. Now, many residents who can’t make it in other Chapters are rushing here!"
Wei Tianyang, hands on hips, said, "Damn, do they really take this place for a refugee camp?! The stars are watching over this place; don’t they know?"
"Many have fallen, more will come to feed," the segmented worm said. They were still not accustomed to human language, making their choice of words slightly odd.
"I understand. You mean there are many Heavenly Falling Objects on Earth, and now more residents are coming to consume them?" Wei Tianyang asked.
The half segmented worm stood up, coiled its body, its translucent skin emitting a spectrum of faint lights.
"That’s what nodding means," Baphomet translated.
Wei Tianyang remembered the giant spider deep underwater, it had eaten half a horse, also claiming that by consuming corpses, it could strengthen itself.
"So, are there many up there who aren’t faring well, rushing here for a buffet?" Wei Tianyang glanced toward Baphomet.
"It can be understood that way. But these two aren’t like that. They secretly observed your fight with the star, you didn’t die, and they had never seen you before. So, they think you must be a character in this Chapter. They, want you to be their king," Baphomet said.
Wei Tianyang initially wanted to refuse, but then he thought, these were two living Heavenly Falling Objects, fundamentally no different from Baphomet. They would provide him with more celestial knowledge, and with their superpowers, they could probably help with affairs on Earth.
"What are your powers?" Wei Tianyang asked.
The distant segmented worm swiftly crawled over and said, "We are food."
"You have to be useful to me for me to feed you!" Wei Tianyang pointed at the worm.
"We... we ah... we can eat," the worm seemed somewhat aggrieved, awkwardly twisting and crawling onto the other half of the segmented worm, the two colorful worms stacked together resembling two loaves of bread.
"What they mean is, they are food," Baphomet said.
"Food?!" Wei Tianyang was somewhat surprised. What kind of superpower was that?
"I’ve heard of their kind of inhabitants, they themselves are food. By consuming them, not only can one fill their stomach, one can also gain some special effects in a short time, considered highly nutritious," Baphomet explained.
"What if we finish eating them?" Wei Tianyang asked again.
"Control your appetite, and your human body couldn’t possibly consume that much. Besides, look at this one, the part you smashed is almost regenerated," Baphomet said.
Wei Tianyang took another look at the half-worm, which was now far from half—it was about 80%... and it was regrowing pretty fast.
So, they did seem somewhat useful. Eating and excreting were top priorities and these creatures could regrow automatically, serving as an inexhaustible food source. However, it was still unclear whether there would be any side effects for humans after eating them.
"So, tell me, what effects can we get from eating you?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"Requires... trial, we also, deny, confirm..." the worm said.
"They are not sure either, you’ll need to find a few people to try it, or maybe you try it yourself?" Baphomet suggested.
Unfazed, Wei Tianyang reached out, grabbed a piece of the worm, and broke off a small piece.
The texture was rather soft and crumbly. The two worms’ outer layer lacked chitin or any similar protective skin, resembling bread more than anything. Breaking it open, the internal flesh structure was also crumbly and dry without surplus organs—quite clean.
The worm didn’t cry out in pain, or rather, it seemed entirely devoid of pain sensation.
Wei Tianyang popped the small piece into his mouth, chewed a couple of times—its texture and taste were exactly like bread, even carrying a slight sweet taste reminiscent of wheat flour.
After gulping it down, he waited a few seconds, but Wei Tianyang didn’t feel any enhancement.
"How is it?! How is it?! How is it!? Is it tasty?!" the tiny Baphomet hopped around frantically on the mountain top and asked anxiously.
"It’s quite tasty, just like the croissants sold in the café across the street from our hotel, which cost 3.99 Langke each," Wei Tianyang commented.
"Quick, quick, quick!! Break off a piece for me too!!" Baphomet urged.
Wei Tianyang then scooped up a little more from the worm with his pinky and gently placed it on the open ground of the mountaintop. With his current size, a pinky scoop was as big as a bus.
Baphomet leapt directly into the "bread" and started to gorge himself.
"You seem quite concerned about this," Wei Tianyang said.
"These are a great nourishment! In any Chapter, encountering them is always something not to be missed! The horned ones, you’ve hit the jackpot!" Baphomet sent his thoughts while munching away.
"As our... king... in this... Chapter... leaves a mark..." The two worms crawled up to his feet, raising their upper halves and constantly emitting kaleidoscopic glows.
Wei Tianyang was about to pat the heads of the two worms, acquiescing to their plea, but then he remembered that his convoy was attacked by them, and he suddenly said, "Right, the convoy that you previously attacked was carrying my goods."
Thinking Wei Tianyang had refused them, the two worms intertwined hastily, trying to turn invisible and escape, but Baphomet stopped them.
"Wait a minute! Wait a minute! I know this horned one, if you explain clearly, he won’t mind," Baphomet said.
"Gift... was meant to be, offered to, you," the two worms said.
"Ah... I see, it was meant as a welcome gift for a future king. But coincidentally, that was his own stuff. So, from now on, you need to be obedient. Whenever I want to eat you, you can’t complain!" Baphomet declared.
Wei Tianyang watched as the black goat took the liberty of forgiving them and didn’t interfere, after all, the goods were not lost, and the dead were dead—nothing to mourn.
"Right, you two look exactly the same, hard to tell apart. Use different colors when you glow from now on. I’ll give you two Earth names, and you’ll follow me," Wei Tianyang said.
The two worms twisted their bodies excitedly, one turning red and the other blue.
"Um... the red one, from now on you’ll be called Da Lieba. The blue one, you’ll be called Maigun," Wei Tianyang decided.
