I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 372 - 370: Space Undead
Chapter 372: Chapter 370: Space Undead
Wei Tianyang had initially planned to fly over to that enormous corpse to take a look.
But reason still triumphed over curiosity. The stars swirling around the corpse didn’t seem to be anything legit. He might be fearless on Earth, but in space, he was still somewhat timid.
The universe is no place for humans...
Wei Tianyang shook his head, tugged at the two ropes, and let the hook carry him back to the outer hull of the research module. He hooked the gear into the slide and then switched out of objective reality.
The surrounding crimson slowly faded away, and the universe reverted to its unfathomable blackness. The sunlight struck from his left side, bathing half of his body in a golden hue.
Wei Tianyang’s return position was slightly off, and his connection to Li and Rovt had been cut. The two men were presently to his left front.
"Where is he?" Rovt exclaimed in surprise.
One second he was holding onto the handle on the backpack of Wei Tianyang’s spacesuit, and the next second, the man was gone.
Li activated scanning mode and quickly located Wei Tianyang.
"Ishmael, hold tight," Li urgently said.
"He shouldn’t be there!" Rovt spoke as he moved toward Wei Tianyang’s direction.
"Maybe a solar wind blew him over there," Li suggested.
"That’s impossible! He disappeared!" Rovt objected.
"Enough talk, secure him well!" Li commanded.
Both of them were very anxious, but Wei Tianyang was already slowly getting accustomed to the rhythm outside the module.
At this moment, above the space station, a tiny white dot slowly drifted by.
Wei Tianyang asked, "Look there, what is that?"
Li adjusted the camera on his backpack, aiming in the direction Wei Tianyang pointed. Rovt had already reached his side and reattached him to himself with a yellow rope.
"Transport rocket. It must be some other country’s launch mission," Li explained.
"Forget about that now, the sun is about to move to the backside, you’d better hold on tight, we’ve been out here too long," Rovt said.
Wei Tianyang stared at the white dot, his four pupils emitting red light. Under his super-vision, the white dot was magnified over and over again until it became a large white airplane.
"An airplane?" Wei Tianyang asked.
Rovt looked into Wei Tianyang’s eyes as if he understood something.
"Do we have that kind of airplane that can fly in space?" Wei Tianyang asked, looking down at Rovt.
"No, we don’t. Are you talking about a space plane? Those things are not as economical as rockets, and their carrying capacity is too small—they’ve been abandoned a long time ago," Li explained.
"Are you really from the Superpower Special Department?" Rovt asked.
Wei Tianyang nodded and said, "I want to know where that plane went."
"That’s impossible, no space agency in the world has a space plane in service," Li stated.
"Wow, Li, he has superpowers..." Rovt was still talking about that fact.
"Relax... I told you, this is the Emperor’s arrangement," Li interjected.
"I didn’t see it wrong, it’s an airplane, heading in the direction of..." Wei Tianyang raised his hand and pointed to the left front, "that way."
"That direction... this is the universe, a casual point from you is millions of light-years..." Rovt said.
"Is it your mission?" Li asked.
"It’s a personal vendetta," Wei Tianyang replied.
The Lingxian Sect had made a move against him twice. One time they nearly killed him. The other time, they almost killed Zhao Ling.
Through Zhao Ling’s memory, Wei Tianyang had already seen the woman involved in the attack.
The time for reckoning had come; there could be no more delays.
"We can use the space station’s computer to remotely control the space telescope and the ground’s array radar to scan that area," Li said.
"Then what? Are you just going to go over there like that?" Rovt asked.
"I... I don’t know, but I will find a way," Wei Tianyang said.
The three of them reformed their formation. The extravehicular tasks still required the two of them to complete, and the mechanical arm slowly moved to their side.
Now, besides Wei Tianyang, both Li and Rovt had changed their position, making themselves feet-free and keeping horizontal with the experimental module.
The parts brought by the mechanical arm were all mounted on the rack. They needed to operate carefully, and the replaced parts couldn’t be discarded at will but had to be reinstalled onto the mechanical arm’s rack.
Wei Tianyang had never seen such a mission before and watched with great interest.
The two of them worked in perfect harmony, and after about 20 minutes, all of the upper sensors in the module were replaced.
Rovt gathered up the rope, then said, "Ready to re-enter."
An orange directional arrow appeared on Wei Tianyang’s HUD, indicating the position of their module’s hatch, while a blue number flashed alongside, indicating the oxygen level.
As the two made their final preparations for re-entry, Wei Tianyang stayed put and looked around. It was at that moment, from the edge of the module’s roof, a pale hand reached out.
The hand clung to the edge, and a man with ashen skin dressed in a black military uniform and holding an assault rifle climbed onto the sidewall.
"Dead ones?!" Wei Tianyang’s pupils contracted violently. It could actually climb up here?!
He immediately stretched out his right hand, trying to absorb the other.
The dead one raised the rifle aiming at Wei Tianyang, and as a suction force twisted its form, it grinned, switched targets, and aimed at Rovt.
"Rovt!" Wei Tianyang shouted.
Rovt, startled, turned to look, thinking Wei Tianyang was in danger. Seeing him extending his hand, he asked, "What are you doing?"
An invisible bullet hit Rovt in the chest. The thick breastplate of his spacesuit and various layers were torn through by the shot. While this wasn’t enough to injure him, it did damage his spacesuit.
After firing a shot, the dead one’s form completely twisted into black mist and was absorbed into Wei Tianyang’s body.
The impact of the bullet hit sent Rovt flying 2 meters outwards. His body stopped, and a red hook caught him.
Li didn’t understand the situation, but he knew something was wrong, so he quickly sought information from Wei Tianyang: "What happened? Are we under attack?!"
"You can’t see it, but I can. Get inside fast!" Wei Tianyang said.
"Ilya? Can you hear me? There’s something happening outside the module!" Li hurriedly tried to contact the inside of the space station.
No response.
Wei Tianyang grabbed the yellow rope, released the red hook, and pulled himself towards Ilya, all the while controlling the red hook to fly towards the entrance of the module.
"Ilya?! GC?!" Li called out countless times, but all went unanswered.
"What’s going on?" Wei Tianyang said.
"There’s no response from the ground control or the space station!" Li said.
Rovt’s voice couldn’t transmit; his spacesuit was damaged in the wrong place and began to leak air.
Wei Tianyang grabbed him, trying to pry open the airlock, but the airlock door to the depressurization chamber wouldn’t budge.
If he forced it open by brute force... Damn... it might break, right?
"Li?!" Wei Tianyang hadn’t heard Li speak, and he looked up to see, even more, dead ones crawling over from various parts of the space station. They secured themselves with simple belts and hooks, holding assault rifles that had their stocks removed.
Wei Tianyang stretched out his hand to absorb them, but bullets flew towards them first. Li’s visor shattered, red blood floated out, and his body spun 360° before being pulled by a red rope, floating 3 meters away from the module wall.
The dead ones twisted into a large black fog, all of which was absorbed into Wei Tianyang’s right arm. From the beginning to the end, these dead ones never attacked him, knowing it would be pointless.
They just wanted to prevent him from gaining information.
