Chapter 357: Chapter 355: The Place I Promised

Heiside State, Eltoya.

This was the richest place on the blackened continent, with rivers flowing with silver and trees growing gold. Heavenly Falling Objects had never chosen to land here, which kept the realm away from dangerous political dealings.

It was the trade center of Heiside State, a safe haven and outpost for white-gloved foreigners penetrating this dark continent. Wealth acquired through illegal channels elsewhere would be laundered here into clean bills, transitioning into legal circulation back to the native countries of these investors. It was a suppurating sore oozing pus on cracked skin, the gem of Heiside State.

The war ignited in Gambia had not affected Eltoya’s prosperity. On the contrary, many owners of illicit factories had fled overnight to the capital, Felda, and checked into its most luxurious five-star hotels.

Eltoya had a permanent population of 14.2 million but maintained a floating population of 50 million year-round. Capable individuals from various countries appeared here, including warlords, government agents, and businessmen with political missions. They savored the riches here. The locals knew this well, so whenever they saw these foreigners entering and exiting upscale hotels, they referred to them as "mosquitoes."

Rada Gan realized that becoming a "mosquito" was not so simple.

The place was full of intelligent people. Or rather, anyone in Heiside State with a brain was probably here.

They did not believe in gods and were not easily swayed. They only believed in geopolitics, economic laws, and armed forces.

A white limousine drove through the old town streets of Felda and gradually stopped at the edge of an empty space.

Rada Gan lowered the car window and silently observed the considerable narrow space.

"Boss," the African driver quietly said.

"They did not come today," Rada Gan said.

"Maybe they’ll come tonight. Should I call the brothers..." the driver said.

"No. It won’t help. They’ll stay as long as they like; the biggest issue is whether the local government will grant me the land," Rada Gan replied.

The driver did not speak further, merely nodding lightly.

This was the place Rada Gan had set his sights on.

It was not located in Felda’s most bustling uptown area but nor was it outside the city. Instead, it was at a nondescript fork between two small streets in the old town.

The narrow space was flanked by old, yet imposing, 28-story apartment buildings. Moving along the small streets would connect to a major road, lined with rows of upscale clothing and luxury goods stores. Further down was a golf course.

The asking price for the space was steep, but there were few bidders. After all, the old town no longer held developmental value, but land prices in Felda clearly made no concessions.

Rada Gan, having arrived here only a few days prior, had quickly found a way to sell gold bars. However, having deliberately concealed his background and fabricated a weak cover story, it did not take long for the local mafia and the security bureau to take notice.

But he was Rada Gan, the man who once led the farmers of Azaha against the Yixu Defense Army! Such a challenge could not trap him.

Within a mere week, he had carved a path with blood-soaked gold. This was Felda, not Georgetown; laws were less effective here than money and numbers, and gang strife was far less brutal than in Azaha and Yixu.

Corruption among government bureaucrats provided him with opportunities. Many poor gangs, believing his boasts of being a "subsidiary leader of a multinational giant," joined him. Now, he still lacked a legal identity, but he had already emerged as a new underground notable in Felda.

The only issue was about acquiring land.

Without a legal identity, he could not legally obtain land for property development, and real estate was the biggest business in any country. As a newcomer wanting to enter the game, he had to pay an entrance fee.

Rada Gan sought a way to bribe, but high-ranking politicians were clearly not yet willing to be bought with a box of gold bars, at least not until they fully grasped Rada Gan’s background, as no one wanted to take such a risk.

Feeling threatened, the major local gangs also started to guard against him. Rada Gan’s informer in the security bureau revealed that everyone knew of his interest in the land, so high-level staff had already intervened, instructing several large gangs to pool funds to buy the land to thwart his plans.

As the car drove onto the main road, the driver suddenly braked hard, annoying Rada Gan, but through the windshield, he saw a black goat standing in the middle of the road.

"Look at it, darker than my grandmother," the driver said.

"Wait, wait..." Rada Gan noticed something, patting the back of the driver’s seat.

He opened the car door, crouched next to the goat, and saw two medals hanging from its horns, along with a smartwatch and a wireless earpiece tied with a thin cord.

The screen of the watch was flashing; Rada Gan picked it up and saw that the watch was in a call...

He realized something and inserted the earpiece, whispering softly, "Is it... Wei?"

"I’m just checking in, not rushing you," Wei Tianyang’s voice came through the earpiece.

"Where are you?" Rada Gan asked.

"Do you see the alley ahead? Walk in," Wei Tianyang instructed.

Rada Gan stood up, instructed the driver to wait by the roadside, and turned around to find the goat gone.

He briskly walked into the alley and saw Wei Tianyang dressed in a light-green military shirt and blue jeans, wearing white sneakers, and carrying a blue backpack, leaning in the shadow of the alley.

His right arm was covered with a sun protective sleeve, and he wore fingerless gloves on his right hand to conceal his increasingly abnormal skin.

Wei Tianyang’s pupils flashed a faint red glow in the dark, making Rada Gan momentarily think he was releasing some power.

"What are you doing? Your eyes are glowing," Rada Gan cautioned.

Wei Tianyang knew what such a hint meant—the Superpower Special Department’s pupils glowed when activating powers—but he had done nothing. Since that night, his eyes had never returned to normal.

The pupils had turned red, emitting a bright light, unable to consciously close, just left like this. On the right side of his forehead, there was a black, thumb-nail-sized hard protuberance, protruding about 2mm, feeling hard as diamond.

"What happened to you? You seem...different," Rada Gan expressed his concern.

"No need to worry, Rada Gan, I’m just looking for a change of scenery. It seems I... got some things wrong. I wrote the wrong answers..." Wei Tianyang said.

Speaking, he stepped out of the shadow, his face wearing a smile.

"Come now, my Golden Knight, let me see, during this time, what have you done for me in the place I promised you?"
