Chapter 350: Chapter 348 Out of Control
Zhao Ling sat up from the collection platform, and as soon as her left leg touched the ground, she felt a pang of pain in her lower abdomen.
Feet on the ground, a faint trail of blood slowly slid down the inside of her thigh. She steadied herself with one hand on the collection platform and tugged at the hem of her hospital gown with the other.
"I’ve compared the results of the fusion of the bodily fluids collected the first three times," the professor said, looking at the various readings on the screen.
"How did it go? Am I becoming more like him?" Zhao Ling asked, eager for the answer.
The professor turned to look at Zhao Ling, his face revealing a mysterious smile.
"Yes, your uterus is absorbing his fluids, and your spinal capacity is increasing," the professor nodded in affirmation.
"You’re saying... if another woman slept with him, could she achieve the same effect?" Zhao Ling asked.
"I don’t think so because the absorption phenomenon inside you is also due to the Black Medicine in your spine," the professor replied.
Zhao Ling took a tissue and walked behind the screen. The professor could only see a pair of jade feet under the screen, followed, after a while, by a ball of blood-stained tissues that fell.
"I think it’s time. I want to try injecting the second type of Black Medicine," Zhao Ling said.
"This still carries risks. Are you truly prepared?" the professor inquired.
"I don’t know why, but I always feel confident. Perhaps my physique is similar to Wei Tianyang’s, and I could possibly have multiple superpowers like him," Zhao Ling said.
She emerged from behind the screen, now dressed in a thin, cream-colored dress and a white gauzy garment.
"If the injection of the second type of Black Medicine fails, what symptoms could appear?" she asked again.
Although that was what she said, Zhao Ling, being an Emperor, was still very cautious about matters concerning her own life.
"There have been relevant experiments a long time ago. In the best case, the two types of Black Medicine reject each other, leading to the ineffectiveness of the first superpower, and the body is paralyzed by toxins. With timely unloading treatment, recovery can be expected within three months at most," the professor explained.
"How often has this situation occurred in past experiments?" Zhao Ling inquired.
"Not often... Out of 1000 cases, there were only 2," the professor shook his head.
"Just tell me the most common outcome," Zhao Ling demanded.
"The most common outcome is that the subject dies immediately after the injection of the second type of Black Medicine," the professor said.
Zhao Ling fell silent.
One must not cherish one’s life when achieving great things, nor forget the risks for small gains.
But this matter, she probably only had one chance.
Zhao Ling had never felt so hesitant and indecisive.
Wei Tianyang received a single injection and changed his fate, becoming unparalleled in this world.
She didn’t match up to Wei Tianyang at all; even with the blood of the Black Dragon coursing through her, she was still manipulated by the Lingxian Sect, backstabbing her father to reluctantly assume the title of Emperor.
In front of Wei Tianyang, she was powerless.
She claimed to be a King, yet to borrow his strength, she clung to him, sharing his bed.
At this moment, the emotions that were usually suppressed by rationality and utilitarianism washed over her – resentment and indignation, shame and disdain reddening her face.
She remembered begging Wei Tianyang to toy with her body, remembered every sweet word she had uttered.
"Emperor?" The professor saw Zhao Ling daydreaming and called out to her again, gently.
Zhao Ling looked up, glanced at the professor, and said, "You go ahead and get ready."
Leaving the hospital, it was precisely noon. Suddenly, Zhao Ling received a call from the United Council.
She raised her wrist to check her watch; it was Helena Mina.
"Looking for me at this time? What’s the matter?" Zhao Ling asked.
"We’ve lost contact with Wei Tianyang," Helena Mina said.
Zhao Ling smiled and replied, "He’s using the equipment you gave him, and he’s still with your troops. I saw him in the news, rescuing people. How can you not make contact?"
"We know where he is, but he’s refusing to take our calls," Helena Mina said.
"What happened? What did you say to make him angry?" Zhao Ling asked.
"You should teach him about international politics on a regular basis. It’s not right for the Superpower Special Department to show up in the United Army’s operations in Heisai State. He’s exposed himself," Helena Mina said.
"You’re too timid. With Wei Tianyang, what operations can’t be done? What’s wrong with that?" Zhao Ling said with a laugh.
"We can’t be as carefree as you; after all, we’re not an empire," Helena Mina said.
Zhao Ling’s face changed as she said, "No matter the system, if there are too many constraints on the ruler’s decisions, changes need to be made."
"I’m not here to discuss social systems with you. Can you help me contact Wei Tianyang? His code name is Moby Dick," Helena Mina said.
"You think I’m a messenger? Even if I’m close to him, I need to maintain a proper distance. You need to give him space, don’t always try to control him," Zhao Ling said.
"He’s already somewhat out of control... Zhao Ling, you can’t control him either. We both know, someone like him can’t be controlled by so-called emotions or interests. We’re both walking a tightrope, but now, it seems the wire is about to snap," Helena Mina said.
"You’re wrong, Helena, he’s still human and can have feelings. You just don’t think so because you’re not that close to him," Zhao Ling said with a smile.
"Help me contact him, please, Zhao Ling. I’m asking you privately. I need him to come back immediately. The situation in Heisai State is very complicated, and many parties don’t want him to take extreme measures," Helena Mina said.
"I know you’re after that neutralizer ’Black Medicine’ factory there. And you’ve made a list. Tell me, Helena. Is there any interest of the Sethiyan Federation involved? Was it leaked from inside your own ranks?" Zhao Ling asked.
"How could that be? Perhaps the Federation Army might spend 50,000 Langke on a coffee mug, but they would never sell something like that, unless their Superpower Special Forces no longer need that stuff like Wei Tianyang," Helena Mina said.
"Perhaps that’s really the case? There’s that possibility," Zhao Ling said.
"You’re just making wild guesses. We are also tracking down the leaker... Zhao Ling! Help me contact him, please! Ask him to come back," Helena Mina said.
"I’ll see when I’m free," Zhao Ling said with a smile and hung up the phone.
She got into the white sedan and drove to Lingxiao Palace. On the glass dome above, four members of the Superpower Special Forces were waiting.
"Find out anything?" Zhao Ling asked.
The four of them didn’t say anything, Zhao Ling looked at them and, having an idea in her mind, she then led the four to the top-floor gym of the Lingxiao Palace.
The place had been refurbished, and the five people stood in the center of the gym. Zhao Ling tapped on the HUD on the floor-to-ceiling window, the photochromic glass turned black, darkening the room, and electromagnetic shielding was activated.
Then, all five of them put on AR glasses, and a 3D map of the abandoned rocket launch site in the Fanicara Democratic Republic appeared.
"The rusty launch pad was reinstalled. The abandoned launch center is intentionally aged, with recent signs of use," a female member of the special forces team said.
Then, more than a dozen photos and short videos appeared in front of everyone.
Zhao Ling walked among these multimedia materials, examining them carefully.
"The launch pad is dismantled after each use, then the rusty ones are reinstalled. The functions of the launch center are all normal... they’ve gone to great lengths for each launch," Zhao Ling said.
"Did we get the launch data? If we can track the orbit, we might be able to find the Lingxian Sect’s space station," she looked at the team members.
A series of dense numerical formulas and several black orbital diagrams appeared to Zhao Ling’s right.
"They did a destruction process, but they probably didn’t think someone would reverse-engineer it, so it wasn’t encrypted. We’ve recovered some of the data; the last launch was 2 months ago, and they replaced a module," the female team member said.
Zhao Ling nodded; getting to this point was enough.
She kept the most critical information and destroyed the rest. Then, the gym lit up again.
After the special forces team members left, Zhao Ling took out her phone.
The Lingxian Sect’s space station would soon be found.
