I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 338 - 336 Leng Kai
Chapter 338: Chapter 336 Leng Kai
June 18, 2111.
The United Council Alliance Army entered Gambia under the deployment of the Georgetown aircraft carrier.
The signal for the special military operation to begin was the capture of Mokrev, the leader of the "Black Sun" organization.
According to intelligence, he was hiding in a civilian slum on the southern outskirts of Gambia.
"We need to leave now."
At this moment, Mokrev, carrying a bulletproof briefcase, paced back and forth in the cluttered room. By his side followed a man with an East Continent face, his newly hired bodyguard.
"Kai, is the escape route ready? This time they’re playing for keeps," he said to the bodyguard.
"The airport to the west, a plane is waiting, it can take people and equipment, but we have to leave the car. It’s an hour and a half drive," Leng Kai replied.
"Good, good... the car doesn’t matter, what’s important is these production data," Mokrev said.
He had established his command center in this sprawling slum of unfinished buildings, thinking it was a wise choice.
But the United Council’s people were ubiquitous, and he had still been exposed.
Downstairs, six SUVs were already loaded with essential items; he could only take limited things with him. If it weren’t for Leng Kai’s early warning, he might have been captured by the United Council’s people by now.
Mokrev threw his phone on the ground and stomped on it several times, then pulled out a handgun and shot it into junk. Afterward, he set the safety, returned the gun to its holster.
He looked at Leng Kai and said, "You’d better ditch your phone too, I don’t want to be blown out of the sky by a cruise missile while on the plane."
Leng Kai nodded, pulled out his phone, snapped it into an L shape with both hands, and threw it on the ground, also shooting it to pieces with his handgun.
The two men went downstairs, and the SUV was already started.
Leng Kai followed, Mokrev opened the car door and was about to get in when he suddenly stopped.
Leng Kai instinctively rested his hand on his gun holster.
Mokrev turned back to look at Leng Kai and smiled, "No matter who the hell leaked our location, at least! I still have my loyal bodyguard, Kai!"
Leng Kai nodded, his hand leaving the holster.
The two got into the car, Mokrev urged, "Drive fast, avoid the city center, head to the airport to the west."
The SUV started up, and the bodyguard in the front row folded up the ICR mop and flipped off the safety.
Meanwhile.
Four men and two women dressed like tourists were strolling on the street at the southern edge of the slum.
They seemed carefree but all wore AR glasses. They were in groups of three, one group at the intersection, the other at a shop diagonally opposite.
They all wore jeans, short sleeves, and black bulletproof vests, carried 24-hour assault packs on their backs, wore baseball caps and military headsets, each holding a black cloth bag.
"See them?" asked a muscular Caucasian man.
In the view of the glasses, a small map in the upper right corner marked a route in green with six red dots moving.
"They’ve gotten into the car, about to pass through," a woman’s voice came through the headset.
"There’s a mole in their car, be careful not to hit our own," the Caucasian man said.
Leng Kai’s photo appeared on everyone’s glasses HUD.
"Understood," everyone replied.
"The target and the mole are in the third vehicle," the Caucasian man said.
"Rules of engagement?" the woman asked.
"Free engagement, except for the target and the undercover, kill everyone else," the white strongman said.
"Received," everyone replied.
Two groups were already in position, they all unzipped the black bags to reveal folded submachine guns.
Leng Kai and Mokrev sat together at the back, as Leng Kai looked out at the street scene. Most of the buildings here were unfinished and occupied by the poor from various parts of Gambia. The ground floors were used as warehouses or stores, the unfinished tops covered with large pieces of tarpaulin, housing many families and creating a unique landscape.
Is this considered a town? No, it’s not, but people lived here.
"Turn right up ahead," Mokrev suddenly tapped the back of the driver’s seat.
Their SUV veered off from the convoy and took a small path into another street.
Leng Kai, caught off guard, said, "Where are you going?"
"Of course, to the airport," Mokrev smiled.
"The route is wrong," Leng Kai said calmly.
"Let me teach you a trick, Kai, I call it the ’cicada shedding its shell,’" Mokrev said.
After he finished, he tapped the passenger seat again, "Turn on the signal jammer."
The bodyguard in the passenger seat flipped open a notebook-like device, twisted a knob, and a low-frequency noise filled the cabin.
"We don’t have cell phones on us, you’re overly anxious," Leng Kai said.
"Phones aren’t the only things that can send signals," Mokrev replied with a smile.
The next second, he pulled out a pistol and pressed it against Leng Kai’s temple.
"Didn’t I tell you? At least I have my loyal bodyguards," Mokrev said with a smile.
The car slowly stopped by the roadside, and the man in the passenger seat turned around, motioning for Leng Kai to get out.
Mokrev took the pistol from Leng Kai’s waist and opened the car door.
"I should have known you East Continent people are unreliable; you’ve taught me a lesson," Mokrev said fiercely.
In that instant, Leng Kai suddenly pushed Mokrev’s gun hand against the roof of the car, a gunshot rang out, leaving a hole in the window frame.
The bodyguard in the passenger seat immediately pulled out his pistol towards Leng Kai who swiftly reached out with his right hand to grab the gun’s slide, preventing him from firing.
Mokrev, gritting his teeth, kicked fiercely at Leng Kai’s midsection, knocking him off the car.
Leng Kai landed on his back, but quickly rolled over to his feet and dashed to the rear of the car. The bodyguard in the passenger seat immediately disembarked and opened fire with an ICR rifle towards the back of the vehicle.
While Mokrev also fired wildly through the rear window, shattering the glass everywhere.
Leng Kai circled to the side, elbowed the window causing it to break, grabbed Mokrev’s neck, and dragged him out through the window. At that moment, the car started and a cover in front of them immediately vanished; the bodyguard with the ICR stood less than 3 meters in front of Leng Kai.
Leng Kai used Mokrev as a human shield, breaking three of his fingers. The pistol fell to the ground. There was no time to pick it up, the standoff continued.
It was hot, and no wind was in sight. The SUV moved a few meters forward before stopping; the driver opened the door and also aimed an ICR rifle at Leng Kai.
Leng Kai slightly adjusted Mokrev’s position, perfectly blocking the two bodyguards. Yet he couldn’t retaliate, his gun was four meters away; another was at his feet, but bending down to pick it up would turn him into a sieve.
The two bodyguards gradually closed in, looking for an opportunity to deliver a deadly shot.
Then, gunshots rang out, and they both fell to the ground.
It was the white strongman and his team arriving for support.
"Damn, that was too close," Leng Kai cursed.
He kicked Mokrev on the knee, then pinned him down on the ground.
"This is Leopard Cat, mission over, preparing to return to the nest. The undercover is safe, and so is the target," the white strongman said to his headphone’s microphone.
