I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 326 - 324: The Heavens Are Dead
Chapter 326: Chapter 324: The Heavens Are Dead
Wang Ye felt his lips were a bit wet.
He opened his eyes and saw a woman feeding him water.
He startled and sprang up to sit, his body suddenly aching with a sour pain.
"You lad, awake now?" The woman flashed a suggestive smile, looking very charming.
She was probably just over thirty, with long black hair tied back at her head, wearing a black tank top that showcased her beautifully defined arm muscles, and her ample chest pushed the neckline of her tank top up high. She had a camouflage jacket tied around her waist, camouflage pants, and army boots on her feet, with an automatic pistol holstered on her thigh.
"I..." Wang Ye tried to speak, but his mouth was in severe pain.
He looked down at himself, wearing only a pair of clean grey trousers, his upper body wrapped in bandages, and his head swathed like a rice dumpling.
"Remember what happened before?" the woman asked.
Wang Ye closed his eyes, and the previous events flashed through his mind.
His mother’s market stall was overturned, and then she was slapped; he took a fruit knife to the streets and killed eight, injured several, and was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Because he was too young, he was first sent to a reformatory for two years to be evaluated, but because a juvenile delinquent picked a fight there, he couldn’t hold back and beat six of them to death with a shovel in the labor equipment storage, and his sentence was changed to death.
At night, the female director of the reformatory gave him a way out, and he escaped from prison.
And this way out was the person before him now.
A mysterious military unit...
Wang Ye nodded, wanting to speak, but his cheeks were swollen, and he could only half-open his mouth.
The woman took a small porcelain spoon and a small porcelain bowl, filled with Chinese medicinal concoction.
She said, "You took quite a beating, you know. After we picked you up that night, you’ve been out cold here for a whole day and night, but you’re recovering pretty fast. At such a young age to have such an iron constitution is also a sort of talent and gift."
The woman had Wang Ye lie down again, fed him the medicine, and continued, "You’ve got quite the wild temper as well. Not only do you dare to fight back when bullied, but you also strike to kill. I like that~ Once your injuries get better, come live with Auntie, and I’ll personally train you."
Wang Ye took a few sips of the medicine, the bitterness making him uncomfortable. At that moment, a man walked into the room. He was much older than the woman but not too old, with sinewy muscles, his open camouflage jacket revealing sturdy eight-pack abs and bulging chest muscles, and a thick beard on his face.
"The little stray dog’s awake?" The man’s voice was rough, but his demeanor was gentle.
"He’s awake. This little guy might just grow up to be a wolf someday." The woman smiled.
Wang Ye turned his head to look at the man and nodded.
"Can you get out of bed and walk?" the man asked with a smile.
Wang Ye tried to sit up but was stopped by the woman.
"Let’s talk about it later. After you finish your medicine, I’ll help you get up," the woman said with a smile.
The man nodded in satisfaction and then walked out again.
That’s when Wang Ye began to look around the room, noticing that it was an underground chamber, about thirty square meters, with walls lit by low-brightness incandescent lamps, and faint footsteps coming from the corridor outside.
"You guys..." Wang Ye began to speak, but his cheeks started to hurt again.
"Don’t talk. I know you have questions, but don’t rush," the woman said with a smile.
She finished feeding Wang Ye the medicine and then asked if he needed to relieve himself.
Wang Ye lay there for a full day and night before feeling a strong urge to urinate, so he nodded his head and was helped up by the woman to slowly make his way to the door.
The corridor was very dark, wider than he had imagined, but because it was so dark, he couldn’t make out the color of the walls.
They walked a few meters forward and came to the restroom, which was very simple but had a toilet and two urinals.
Wang Ye finished up quickly. The woman stood outside the door, somehow procuring a camouflage jacket for Wang Ye to put on, and then the two of them continued to walk down the corridor.
At the end of the corridor was a swath of white light, with a few people passing by occasionally and casting dark shadows.
"This place used to be an air raid shelter that’s been abandoned. We’re using it now," the woman suddenly explained.
They emerged from the corridor into a slightly more spacious underground bunker space, which left him somewhat shocked.
Outside the corridor was a sizable space with the ground at least six or seven meters below them. Three tiers of iron walkways circled the space’s walls, each walkway featuring several entrances and exits. Wang Ye guessed that behind those entrances and exits were long corridors with many rooms.
At the center of this area was a broad apron, with rows of soldiers in green camouflage uniforms, armed with automatic rifles, unloading supplies in front of about a dozen trucks.
The trucks were parked on the left side of the open area, and on the right were three armored personnel carriers and a tank.
Wang Ye leaned on the railing and looked down to see the soldiers moving supplies, which included boxes of bullets and some tank shells.
At that moment, he felt a vibration under his feet, and the sound of an engine approached from a distance. A green military jeep drove in from the lower exit and made its way through the open space towards the other side.
"The boss is back. Do you have the energy to listen to his speech today?" the woman asked with a smile.
Wang Ye nodded his head.
"Good. My name is Zhou Yun, but you can call me Sister Zhou," Zhou Yun said.
After speaking, she smiled and gently touched the other half of Wang Ye’s face that wasn’t swollen, then continued, "Let’s head back to your room so you can rest up. I’ll call you when it’s time for the speech."
With that, she turned and left.
Wang Ye found his way back to his room by memory, closed the door, and sat back down on the bed.
After quietly contemplating for a moment, he suddenly wondered if he should call his mother.
Perhaps, not yet. It was best to see how this military unit would deal with his escape from prison first. Once everything was safe and secure, it would not be too late to inform his mother and spare her worry.
Wang Ye sighed. So much had happened recently. He lay back down on the bed, stared at the ceiling, and suddenly felt something odd beneath his head.
He turned to the side and reached under his pillow, pulling out a small yellow booklet with no illustrations on the cover, just one line of red text: "Instruction Manual."
The thin booklet was probably only a few dozen pages long. He flipped it open and saw it was filled with dense text. Squinting, he began to read. Most of the content described basic principles for operations and explanations of firearm handling.
It was like a quick guide for new recruits.
How to wear military gear, how to use a rifle, how to identify hostile targets – all of it roughly outlined in text.
He flipped through quickly and upon reaching the last page, he found this passage:
"The thousand-year corruption of the Dayin Dynasty cannot be redeemed; the oppression of the Yin people upon the commoners continues with deep-seated resentments. The time has come for a once-in-a-century cataclysm. Even as the new Emperor devotes himself to the Westernization Movement, fostering technology and driving the Yin Country towards secularization, it doesn’t change their cannibalistic nature."
"Heaven has perished, Dayin must be destroyed, kill the dog Emperor, and seize the world for the people!"
Stunned, Wang Ye realized... this military unit...
...was planning a rebellion?
