I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 290 - 288: Pardon
Chapter 290: Chapter 288: Pardon
After the speech ended, a brief rest period ensued.
A Sethiyan Federation official hurried into the conference hall and whispered a few sentences next to Steijie.
Steijie frowned, glanced at Wei Tianyang sitting on the platform, and then immediately rose to leave.
Zhao Ling saw Steijie’s departure and shook her head with a smile.
At this moment, Helena Mina also took a seat on the sofa, as Wei Tianyang seemed lost in thought.
"If you’re ready, we can begin," Helena Mina turned off the microphone on her collar and said to Wei Tianyang.
He shook his head, closed his eyes as if thinking of something else, and Helena Mina did not disturb him.
Zhao Ling also received a phone call at this time. After listening, she frowned but did not leave like Steijie; she just turned her head and whispered a few words to Venerable Xu.
Upon hearing this, Venerable Xu’s expression changed, and he immediately stood up and left.
Wei Tianyang listened to the hearts of everyone in the venue. Every country, every business, had their own issues, yet they put those aside and all awaited Wei Tianyang.
This puzzled him greatly.
They did not approve of his speech, yet they deemed him incredibly important.
What they wanted was not an answer, but a threat with a clear bottom line.
It was utterly ridiculous.
He opened his eyes and nodded to Helena Mina.
Helena Mina stood up and said, "We can begin now."
...
More than two hundred felons were all released, taking the elevator up to the surface and out of the prison gates.
Terrorist leaders from various regions once again stepped into the sunlight; they looked up to see four heavy transport helicopters circling in the sky and surveyed their surroundings to see hundreds of black-clad soldiers and heavy breach machinery.
Johnny lowered the Bushido nuclear bomb down the elevator shaft and set the detonation time on his utility phone.
In 12 minutes, the purgatory would burn as its name intended.
"We’re leaving," Johnny joined the prisoners outside the gate.
"Who are you?" Some of the terrorist leaders didn’t recognize this youngster.
"I’m your new boss," Johnny said with a smile.
"I don’t ally with nobodies. My team is bigger than yours. Ever heard of Muhamm..." A bearded prisoner was cut off before he could finish his sentence by Johnny, who walked up to him with a smile, interrupting him.
"I know you, Muhannad Al-Din. Your team hides in the mountains, burrows like rats, using last century’s rifles to shoot at the Sethiyan Federation’s overseas garrisons from behind."
"Firing at them, then running away, afterward, enduring their bombings while hiding in the caves. You call this victory, but I call it failure," said Johnny.
Al-Din clenched his teeth, furious but not daring to speak, as his own team was far away.
"To me, your team looks like a bunch of refugees. You send women and children strapped with bombs to ambush military vehicles, and you send your soldiers with AK47s against power armor. There’s nothing honorable about it."
"You’re just a coward, a wimp. You have your people bleed while you hide in palaces indulging yourself. The cause you speak of is just an excuse; you have no resolve."
Johnny smiled, and then his expression changed.
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out from behind him. Al-Din hadn’t realized what happened when he was shot and fell to the ground.
Johnny walked up to Al-Din, who lay there clutching his chest, spitting blood continuously, and with a look of disgust, spat on him.
Three soldiers stepped forward and emptied their magazines into the gasping Al-Din.
The helicopter descended slowly.
Johnny said to the remaining prisoners, "Once you are on my plane, your troops, your resources, will all be at my service."
The prisoners hardened their faces, these men were all leaders of various-sized terrorist organizations, with at least three to five hundred men under each of their commands, how could they accept Johnny’s threat.
Besides, Johnny was quite obviously taking advantage of them since their teams were not present.
"There are only 10 minutes left until the nuclear bomb explodes. This small nuclear bomb is powerful enough to flatten everything within a 20-kilometer radius, 10 minutes... you can’t run 20 kilometers."
"Those willing to accept my offer, come with me on the plane. Otherwise, stay here and leave it up to fate!"
As Johnny spoke, he turned and jumped onto the helicopter, the rotating blades causing anxiety.
About a dozen people jumped aboard. Initially, they took the lead, but were soon shot dead by the soldiers on the plane, and their bodies were discarded like trash, tossed down.
"You killed them! You’re lying!" a prisoner shouted angrily.
Johnny stood at the doorway of the plane and laughed, "No, no, no... I didn’t lie, but I’m not a fool either. Those dozen or so people didn’t choose to join me right away; they just wanted to temporarily get away from here before finding an opportunity to betray."
"I want to join you sincerely."
Johnny glanced at a soldier’s watch beside him, then smiled and said, "There are only 8 minutes left, not much time left~"
"How are we to prove it!!" The prisoners were also desperate, they had seen that the nuclear bomb was real.
"I don’t know, you have to prove it to me, you are the leaders of terrorist organizations after all, asking me such a question?" Johnny chuckled.
Immediately after, a prisoner from Churi Country burst out from the crowd. He leaped high, over a head taller than the rest, then landed hard on his knees, his hands pressed before him, his forehead audibly striking the base’s steel plate.
"Our Army of the Empire organization is determined to join you, please!!" the man yelled loudly.
Then, another dozen or so people rushed forward, mimicking his actions, kneeling before Johnny.
At this moment, with 7 minutes remaining, Johnny watched more and more people surge forward to kneel before him and burst out laughing.
"Johnny!!! We are determined to join you!" the prisoners screamed at him.
Yet the helicopter slowly ascended.
"I... forgive you. Take care of yourselves," Johnny said, standing at the doorway of the plane, smiling and waving down at the people below.
"Go to hell!!! Son of a bitch!! Bloody fucker!!!"
"Fuck your grandma!!!"
"Fucking squid!! Fucking exhausted squid!!!"
The prisoners cursed in a chorus, but they quickly got up from the ground and scattered in escape.
From the air, Johnny looked down at the prison known as Hell, watching as it gradually turned into a small dot on the horizon.
A soldier beside him handed him a satellite communication device.
"The submarine has retreated to a safe area; there is 1 minute 23 seconds left until the bomb detonates."
"Received, well done," replied Johnny.
Time flew by swiftly, Johnny put on his sunglasses, waiting for the fireworks show.
seconds.
seconds.
seconds...
Suddenly, the tiny sea cliff was engulfed in a burst of white light, and instantly, orange flames shot up into the sky, but in a blink, they were enveloped by a plume of grey dust.
That cloud of dust rose into the sky, covering much of the sea’s surface, and then, the thunderous sound of the explosion finally reached Johnny’s ears, followed by the heat wave finally catching up to the helicopter.
"Damn beautiful. Truly," Johnny remarked.
