I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 276 - 274: The Heart’s Desire

Chapter 276: Chapter 274: The Heart’s Desire

After consoling Fujiwara Makoto, Zhao Ling took off her down jacket and casually draped it over the sofa. Her black thermal undershirt outlined her mature, voluptuous, and athletically sculpted curves.

She turned her head to arrange her long hair, then headed up to the second floor.

The stairwell’s foot lights were triggered by her footsteps, glowing with a small patch of warm yellow light, illuminating only the steps and floor.

Zhao Ling arrived at the room door, where the pheromone lock recognized her, and the lock clicked open. She gently pushed the door, and a subtle scent wafted into her nostrils—it was the fragrance of the freshener released by the room’s air filtration system.

She turned on the wall light, and the dim warm yellow glow filled the room with an ambiguous atmosphere. Zhao Ling entered and quietly closed the door behind her.

In the center of the room was a double bed, where Wei Tianyang lay on the left side, his eyes tightly closed, deep in sleep.

A thin sheet covered him, just revealing his shoulders and collarbones slightly.

After Libitelli fell into deep sleep, Wei Tianyang’s vital signs had remained steady and unchanged. Rather than saying he was asleep, it was more like he was in some kind of "pause" mode—not only his vital signs, but even his body seemed to be frozen at the last moment before he fell into a coma. He didn’t breathe, had no heartbeat, didn’t excrete, and didn’t need to eat, as if he had been captured in the last moment before he lapsed into unconsciousness. However, his brainwaves were still active as if he were any ordinary person.

Zhao Ling had asked several mountain women to help clean his body. After that, his body hadn’t changed at all.

The best medical team was at a loss about Wei Tianyang’s current condition because all diagnostics and examinations indicated that he was incredibly healthy, with only a few minor abrasions and bruises, and no diseases or abnormalities.

Zhao Ling could only wait. From time to time, she took the opportunity to come to this secluded, ice-and-snow-covered cabin to check on him.

"You better wake up soon... You can do it..." Zhao Ling murmured to herself.

She looked at the sleeping Wei Tianyang, down his nose, along the curve of his cheeks, transitioning to his Adam’s apple, then her gaze landed between his collarbones.

Zhao Ling felt a stirring inside her, as if a fire had ignited in her chest.

She unconsciously walked to the bedside and sat down, gently pulling down the bedding, exposing Wei Tianyang’s strong chest and arms.

His chest and abs, chiseled like they were sculpted with a knife and chisel, were distinct and prominent. Three years of intense training had turned Wei Tianyang’s body into a killing machine. Now, that machine, like a supercar with an empty tank, could only be admired by its owner, parked in a garage.

Zhao Ling licked her lips, her fingers trembling as they touched that solid muscle armor, slowly sliding along the pectoral line and lingering on the well-defined abs for a long while.

Her breathing became slightly rapid, her entire palm pressing down, feeling his resilience.

"Damn it..." Zhao Ling cursed quietly, closed her eyes, suddenly stood up, and turned her back on Wei Tianyang.

He would never consent to this.

Zhao Ling knew that clearly.

He chased greater significance—if he woke up and found her taking advantage of him, it would all be over.

Zhao Ling suppressed the restlessness inside her heart, grinding her teeth, staring fixedly at the floor in front of her.

Yet, that desire wouldn’t cease, urging her to draw closer.

Zhao Ling sat back down on the bed. She understood she could never truly have him; she could only use his memories in her mind to fabricate stories for her own satisfaction.

After finishing her story, she got up in a flurry, glanced back at the sleeping Wei Tianyang, covered him up properly with the blanket, and then left the room.

Zhao Ling hurried downstairs to the bathroom, turning on the tap to wash the sticky residue off her left hand.

Looking at her disheveled reflection in the mirror, she couldn’t help but curse inwardly.

"How embarrassing..."

Wei Tianyang woke up, his eyes seeing the familiar ceiling.

"Hmm?"

This room’s decor, the layout, and this familiar coffee smell?

His mind was a mess as he got out of bed. The window outside was brilliantly bright. Pushing open the window, he looked out over the dark artificial forest to a collection of low buildings.

Chicken Snake Country? Kongse? Is this the Black House?

Wei Tianyang shifted his focus nearby and saw the Pei Guode Hotel’s square with its now-dry fountain in front.

Was this a dream?

Wei Tianyang thought this to himself when the sound of a door being pushed open came from behind.

He turned around to see Kacha holding two cups of coffee, with a book tucked under his arm as he walked in.

"Kacha..."

Suddenly, Wei Tianyang was overwhelmed with emotions, and his eyes moistened.

"Ishmael," Kacha stood there, smiling.

"It’s been a long time since anyone called me that..." Wei Tianyang smiled too.

"Did you find it?" Kacha asked with a smile.

"What?" Wei Tianyang was startled.

"A greater meaning," Kacha said.

Wei Tianyang nodded and replied, "I found it, I also achieved it... I wanted to prove that even if the world is dark, there are those who will stand up and make it a bit better."

"That’s great. Really great, Ishmael," Kacha said with a smile.

Wei Tianyang stepped forward to take the coffee, but Kacha withdrew his hand and shook his head with a smile.

"This isn’t for you, Ishmael," Kacha laughed.

At that moment, Starbucks also walked into the room and took the coffee from Kacha, saying, "You still have work to do, Ishmael, it’s not time for coffee yet."

"Starbucks..." Wei Tianyang smiled.

"You’ve found your meaning, right? But she hasn’t found hers yet," Starbucks said.

Wei Tianyang was taken aback.

"Our captain is still at the bottom of the sea, fighting that whale," Kacha said.

Wei Tianyang suddenly realized and sighed sorrowfully.

Ah, Yaha...

Yaha...

"Help her, Ishmael. We still need her to steer," Kacha said with a smile.

Wei Tianyang looked at the book under Kacha’s arm, "The Decline of Man and Nature."

"She’s at the bottom of the sea, it won’t be easy to fish her out," Starbucks said with a smile.

"No matter how deep she has sunk, I must pull her out," Wei Tianyang promised.

"Thank you, Ishmael. Meeting you has been a good thing, hahaha," Starbucks started laughing.

Wei Tianyang seemed to remember something; he looked up at the ceiling and asked, "Is Yaha up there?"

"No," Kacha said.

"Where is she?!" Wei Tianyang asked.

"She’s still with Moby Dick, has always been," Kacha shook his head.

"She’s fallen too deep, still... avenging," Starbucks said.

"I understand..." Wei Tianyang nodded.

What trapped her wasn’t sickness; it was fear, the fear of Moby Dick.

"Find her, Ishmael. You’re the last, and the only one. Only you can save her," Kacha said.

"I... I think..." Wei Tianyang wanted to shout it out loud, but the scene before him was swallowed by darkness.

He suddenly opened his eyes wide and shouted, "I think you..."

The surroundings, however, had transformed into something different.
