Chapter 201: Chapter 199 Heiside Continent
Spencer had arranged the flight to Guinea in the Heiside Continent.
Wei Tianyang did not tell Zhao Ling about this.
Spencer first flew from the Sethiyan Federation to Yin Country, made a brief stop at a five-star hotel in Fengrao City, and then met up with Wei Tianyang. Afterward, they took a plane out of Yin Country.
The first stop was Yemen; from there, they took another plane to Gemala, located in the southwest of Heiside Continent. Subsequently, they traveled by long-distance bus to Guinea.
The journey took nearly two days, all to avoid suspicion.
Guinea is very far from the Seychelles Waters, almost across the entire Heiside Continent. Spencer located his salvage company there due to the local political situation.
Due to the arrival of the Heavenly Falling Objects, Heiside, a largely unmodernized region, experienced a surge in shamanistic worship.
Initially, the Heavenly Falling Objects that fell in Heiside were neither properly preserved nor utilized, as the countries lacked the relevant technology. There were even outbreaks of people dying violently or going insane from eating Heavenly Falling Objects.
It wasn’t until the United Council intervened that the Heavenly Falling Objects in Heiside began to be properly utilized, but this utilization was not without cost.
Under the lead of the United Council, the powerful countries from other continents, that were willing and able to develop the Heavenly Falling Objects, signed a "Negro Silent Trade Treaty" with Heiside, meaning the pharmaceutical companies wanting to develop the Heavenly Falling Objects that fell within the borders of countries in Heiside could not quickly buy out the development rights.
The Chieftains’ Council of Heiside set a standard minimum price for all Heavenly Falling Objects at two billion Langkes. Companies wanting development rights had to wait for other pharmaceutical companies to bid; if there were no competitors within six months, the price would double and close.
If other pharmaceutical companies joined the bidding, each bid would have to double until only one buyer remained.
This transaction involved no haggling or contract signing, nor any auction; everyone silently moved money encoded with special codes to specified locations. You move once, I double the move, until the deal is finalized.
Thus, this trade is called "Silent Trade."
Heiside, home to the most impoverished countries globally, was undeniably contributing money to many small countries. The United Council spearheaded this treaty with its considerations.
However, the Heavenly Falling Objects were too precious, and the pharmaceutical companies backed by major countries indeed had money; hence, no objections were raised.
In Heiside, the Heavenly Falling Objects also spawned several illicit industries. Many small nations performed tricks, such as dismembering a Heavenly Falling Object and haphazardly reassembling it into two or three pieces, spreading them across three countries to seek higher bids and gain more money.
There were also uncivilized government officials who secretly ordered distilleries to use the plasma of the Heavenly Falling Objects mixed with bananas and rotten fruits to make alcohol, then drink themselves to death.
Under the temptation of vast sums of money promised by the Silent Trade Agreement, such misconduct, if discovered internally among the Negroes, was severely punished.
Heiside wasn’t united; countries waged civil wars against each other over the Heavenly Falling Objects. The militarized governments that earned money would often disintegrate internally due to uneven distribution of wealth.
Very few nations could keep to themselves. A small part of the nations in Heiside, unwilling to be involved with Heavenly Falling Objects, still suffered attacks from neighboring countries. After all, no one knew when and where these objects would fall, so they simply fought over territory to increase their chances of landing a lucky spot.
Guinea, a small coastal country located at the western tip of Heiside, was small and remote, likened to a hemorrhoid protruding from an anus. Thus, it was spared from the fierce territorial civil wars in Heiside. Most of the country’s youth worked in mining, agriculture, or fishing, with unemployment rates remaining high. Spencer chose to set up his company here also considering the convenience of recruiting labor.
The long-haul bus had broken down four times on the muddy road, and finally, it brought them to this small country bordering the Atlantic by evening.
Wei Tianyang was exhausted from traveling, having sat for nearly ten hours. After alighting, he stretched his limbs, and his bones creaked.
They were now located in Conakry—the capital of their home country and the largest port in West Heiside, yet as a poor Heiside nation, Conakry’s first impression on Wei Tianyang was barely comparable to that of Kongse in Chicken Snake Country.
Spencer too looked pale and, being older, was a bit stiff after getting off the bus.
The two men didn’t chat much, checked into the Camaye Restaurant they had booked earlier, skipped dinner, and slept until the next day, feeling somewhat better upon waking.
Then, under the guidance of a local guide they had hired, they found the bankrupt fish farm that had been purchased by Spencer.
Inside the car, Wei Tianyang looked out through the window. The entire city was hidden among lush mountains and large trees. The monsoon blowing from the Atlantic made this spicy city, which maintained a temperature of 35°C throughout the day, feel less uncomfortable.
When the two arrived at the fish farm, most of the demolition had already been carried out. Guinea’s fisheries had recently been affected by the pollution from Black Medicine in the Atlantic, resulting in many fish farms closing down. The cause was merely due to a pharmaceutical company constantly discharging test wastewater into the sea from a containment station established along the Atlantic coast, bringing catastrophic damage to the local marine ecosystem.
"We’re not going to wait for you to build the company building before we can start salvaging, are we?" Wei Tianyang, his hands on his hips and his shirt soaked, collar open, revealing his solid chest and neck.
The Black uncle beside him didn’t understand what he said and looked at him with a blank expression.
Spencer smiled, "No need, our company is just a front, we don’t take any business. In fact, we can start the salvage work as soon as the ship is in place. Come on, let me introduce you to our submarine operator."
Wei Tianyang was surprised, "Here? Didn’t you say that person was going to be brought over from Sethiyan?"
"He left a step earlier, said he wanted to come over in advance to take a look. He’s at some small bar," said Spencer.
After that, they rode the car to the bustling part of downtown, and at a bar named "Heart of the Ocean," they found the submarine operator.
The man was stocky, sitting at the bar laughing and joking with a Black woman. He had short blonde hair, was dressed in a white vest and blue baggy shorts, and wore pink slippers.
"Dave," said Spencer.
Yet the man was indifferent, continuing to flirt with the Black woman by his side.
Spencer stepped forward, tapped the man’s back with his cane, and called again, "Dave!"
The man then turned around, initially looking angry, but quickly composed himself when he saw Spencer, nodding at both Spencer and Wei Tianyang.
Wei Tianyang saw that he was a robust middle-aged man in his early ’30s. However, his heavy brows, large eyes, long chin, and small eyes made him less handsome, rather a bit clumsy.
"It’s time for business, Dave," said Spencer.
Dave then slapped the Black woman on her buttock, stood up, and walked towards them.
