I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 121 - 120: The White Whale

Chapter 121: Chapter 120: The White Whale

Wei Tianyang crushed his mobile phone into pieces.

Clearly, after realizing he couldn’t earn his trust, Demos wasn’t willing to hand over Moby Dick for free, so he opted to remain silent.

But it wasn’t a big problem, Chicken Snake Country had now entered a state of emergency, and following the power vacuum, its national defense capabilities were almost completely lost. In order to maintain regional stability—or rather, to seize the opportunity to strengthen their own presence in this region—all major countries would make their moves. It was to keep him from leaving that they had locked down Chicken Snake Country.

If he couldn’t get out, Moby Dick couldn’t possibly leave either.

He was definitely still on this land.

Li Songyan, from the recent conversation, had already learned who Wei Tianyang was talking to. Seeing him crush his mobile phone, he also felt relieved.

"I think we should simply go to Wuliang City Airport and see if we can persuade the control troops to let the medical team in," Li Songyan suggested.

"Do you think they’ll agree? It’s quite a distance from here to Wuliang City, and it would take us an hour or two to drive there," Wei Tianyang said.

He was worried that Moby Dick would take advantage of his absence.

"If you’re there, I think they will definitely let us through," Li Songyan replied.

"I can’t leave this place. What if someone attacks the hospital again?" Wei Tianyang shook his head.

"If you really want to reattach her hand, then we need to hurry. And I don’t think there’s any force in Chicken Snake Country that would dare to act under the watch of so many spy satellites," Li Songyan said.

After much thought, Wei Tianyang made a decision. He found Starbucks and Kacha, instructed them to keep an eye on Yaha, and then he hit the streets with Li Songyan in his Jeep, heading towards Wuliang City.

It wasn’t his first time going to Wuliang City; the last time was to take Yaha to meet Moby Dick, after which he was attacked by Mud Man on the way back. So Wei Tianyang didn’t have a good impression of Wuliang City.

However, this trip was exceptionally smooth. The streets were deserted with no military vehicles or refugees, only the occasional family car speeding past them.

After noon, it started to drizzle. Li Songyan opened the car’s tablet computer and tuned into the international news channel.

"The capital of Chicken Snake Country, Linjiang City, experienced an earthquake early this morning. Chicken Snake Country’s new President Li Fei, along with some of the military stationed in Linjiang City, have been confirmed dead in the disaster. The United Council has called an emergency meeting at 6 a.m. Yin Country, the Sethiyan Federation, Western Alliance, and Heisaid United Continent are currently in urgent negotiations and are expected to send humanitarian aid teams into Chicken Snake Country..."

The news was reporting on last night’s events, but it was obviously far from the truth.

"Do they really think it was an earthquake?" Wei Tianyang asked.

"They aren’t fools; it’s just a pretext for the general public, something that can’t be openly discussed. They’re just looking for excuses to send their people in," Li Songyan replied.

"What if the lie is exposed?" Wei Tianyang asked again.

"Nothing will happen. First of all, the political and military worlds know exactly what happened in Chicken Snake Country and what everyone else wants to do. But everyone needs a reasonable explanation for their actions. Secondly, the people in other countries don’t need to know the truth. The more they know, the more trouble they might cause. Besides, the internet has now been segmented into three parts, which are tightly controlled; the truth can’t even be spread," Li Songyan explained.

"Segmented into three parts? What does that mean?" Wei Tianyang was puzzled.

"Yin Country and some small countries in East Continent use Yin Country’s entire network; Western Alliance and Sethiyan Federation share the Knight Net they’ve built together, while Heisaid United Continent uses the Group Web. The three major networks are not interconnected, and crossing networks is illegal," Li Songyan said.

"So Chicken Snake Country... was using Knight Net before?" Wei Tianyang said.

"It used to be Knight Net, but just a short month or so after Li Fei came to power during the civil war, it switched to the entire network," Li Songyan said.

"I never had much of an idea about the internet before, no chance to access it. Didn’t realize it’s so complicated. Does that mean it’s illegal for me to access Group Web and Knight Net now in Chicken Snake Country?" Wei Tianyang joked.

"It’s not illegal now because the one who made those rules is gone, thanks to you," Li Songyan said, unsure if he should be smiling.

The car entered the city area. Wuliang City hadn’t been affected by the war, and Li Songyan guessed that the power vacuum in Chicken Snake Country wouldn’t last long—at most, a temporary government would take over next week. The mayor of Wuliang City was a strong contender for the next President, and maybe the capital would even move here.

Hearing what Li Songyan had to say, Wei Tianyang fell silent for a long time.

He’d killed the conservatives and the radicals, brought Li Fei to power, then killed Li Fei... Someone else would take over next...

Would this person be as corrupt and degenerate as Li Fei? What needs to be done to prevent this country from being tainted by drug corporates?

"Look, there’s the airport, we’re almost there," Li Songyan said.

The car stopped in front of the square at Wuliang City Airport.

It was nearing noon, and the rain was getting heavier. Li Songyan and Wei Tianyang got out and entered the airport terminal.

Inside the vast hall, there were armed soldiers everywhere. The peacekeeping forces sent by the United Council were keeping their distance on the other side.

There seemed to be some friction between the two sides, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Li Songyan looked towards a corner of the hall and pulled Wei Tianyang along, saying, "Look, the medical team is over there!"

In the corner were about twenty men and women in civilian clothes resting. The oldest had white hair, and the youngest was about the same age as Li Songyan.

The two hurried over. Li Songyan exchanged pleasantries with them before asking about the situation earlier.

Only then did they learn that they had arrived in Wuliang City in the morning, intending to travel to Kongse by car, but had been intercepted by the PMC filling the airport and were sent back.

Around noon, the peacekeeping forces of the United Council arrived, nearly resulting in a conflict with the PMC.

Now both sides were in a standoff, unsure of what to do next, merely obeying strict orders not to let anyone in or out, uncertain of what they were guarding against.

However, transporting Yaha to Wuliang City wasn’t practical either. Her condition was critical, and she couldn’t withstand the rigors of travel. Even after arrival, no hospital would admit her, lacking a surgical environment.

The medical team’s leader still believed that taking her to the United Council for treatment was the best plan, but Wei Tianyang didn’t have that much trust in them yet.

"The whole Chicken Snake Country is on the verge of a shutdown. As for hospitals, her treatment could be cut off at any moment, which is why I think it’s better for us to take her back," the team leader said.

"Think about it... Even if she undergoes the handover surgery here, what about the subsequent nutrition and follow-up treatment? A handover is a very difficult neurosurgery with a very low success rate," the female doctor added.

Wei Tianyang also fell into confusion.

He understood the reasoning but handing over Yaha was like delivering them a hostage... Who knew if Yaha would be taken away for research by them...

Meanwhile, at the hospital in Kongse, Starbucks heard a mobile phone ringing from the ward.

She walked in and saw Yaha staring blankly at the ceiling, eyes vacant, absorbed in thought, or perhaps already gone from there...

"Yaha? Your phone is ringing... Do you want me to answer it for you?" Starbucks asked.

"Is it Ishmael?" Yaha asked.

"Let me check." Starbucks said, digging out Yaha’s phone from her backpack and looking at the caller ID, furrowing her brows.

"Who is it?" Yaha asked.

"It’s... it’s Moby Dick..." Starbucks responded.

Hearing this name, a glimmer returned to Yaha’s eyes. She sat up, the pain in her arms making her squint slightly, but she soon adjusted to the discomfort.

"Answer it," she said.

"Yaha... Do you want to wait for Ishmael to come back..." Starbucks said.

"Answer the phone!" Yaha bellowed.

Helpless, Starbucks could only press the answer button and wedge the phone between Yaha’s shoulder and her cheek.

"You can tell who I am, right? Poor prototype, you know, the biggest difference between you and me is that I live in a civilized world; I am the great one, and moreover, I have the choice to be savage. You, born in Hell, yearning to be a part of the civilized world, but you will never be one," Moby Dick said.

"Come out, you, I salute you, let us continue the battle," Yaha said.

"Come on, you prototype. I’m waiting for you in that hotel halfway up the mountain in Wuliang City. It’s a lot like your Pei Guode, and I, the one who smashed his Moby Dick, will drag you down into that gloomy seabed. I will press you into the deepest depths of Hell. I want to show you what civilization’s savageness is like," Moby Dick laughed.

After speaking, Moby Dick hung up the phone.

Yaha looked at Starbucks and said, "Let’s go, we are off to Wuliang City to avenge the black house!"
