Chapter 920: Chapter 920 Money Can Make the Devil Push the Millstone

"I am here to look for my nephew-in-law, Tiegen, ah, we’re all folks from the same village, please do me a favor," the uncle pleaded with a shameless face.

"What nephew-in-law? You can spout nonsense, but you can’t just claim any relationship. Get lost quickly, or don’t wait for us to cut you down."

Yu Jingting made a gesture to roll up his sleeves, wanting to get the people out quickly so they wouldn’t talk nonsense in front of Su Zhe’s future father-in-law.

"Su Zhe is my nephew-in-law! Now that he’s successful, he doesn’t recognize his poor relatives? My poor niece, what’s the difference between her and Qin Xianglian? Both are abandoned, miserable women!"

The aunt sat down cross-legged on the floor, beginning to slap her thighs with her hands.

"Your niece might have something to do with ’Lian’, but she’s not Qin Xianglian, she’s like the Jin Lian who followed Lord Ximen! What kind of antics she’s pulled, why did Su Zhe divorce her, do you need me to say it out loud? Could she get incarcerated for doing nothing wrong?"

Yu Jingting’s lips were as nimble as ever, hitting the nail on the head with a single sentence.

For these intellectuals, the subtext of his words was not hard to catch.

Lun Lamei was the one with improper behavior, which led to the divorce with Su Zhe; she was the party at fault.

All the customers in the room looked over, and even the teacher’s parents were watching.

This meal wasn’t just about Suizi and her husband giving Su Zhe a boost; the Principal also pulled out all the stops in playing the matchmaker.

The teacher’s parents were quite surprised at the beginning, but upon hearing that it was matchmaking for Su Zhe, they unanimously felt content.

Having stayed at the teacher’s house for the past few days, the couple had gotten a good sense of Su Zhe’s character.

Such an accomplished academic, who at first seemed somewhat aloof, turned out to be quite reliable upon closer interaction.

Intellectual families don’t value external factors too much, and after hearing the Principal speak, their minds grew active. Of course, they were pleased with the match, especially the teacher’s father.

Su Zhe was his idol, becoming a professor at such a young age and a rising star in the research community. Give it time, and he might bring home a Nobel Prize. Wouldn’t it be an honor for his maiden if she could marry such a man?

The Principal also said it was his own brother who had personally asked for this, and when his brother returned from his business trip, they would meet formally again, showing just how sincere the man’s family was.

Satisfied though they were, the couple still reserved their opinions and didn’t speak too definitively, preferring to ask their daughter’s thoughts upon returning home. Marriage is for two people to live together; if the child doesn’t dislike it, then they could proceed with the matter.

Yet before they could even leave, they saw Su Zhe embroiled with someone, and from the look of the conversation, it was relatives from his ex-wife’s side.

The teacher’s mother’s face instantly turned sour, and her gaze at Su Zhe no longer resembled her usual look. Could it be that this lad was still entangled with his ex-wife?

Seeing the aunt starting to make a scene, a steely glint appeared in Yu Jingting’s eyes, ready to take action and resolve the situation, when Su Zhe spoke up.

"I haven’t had any contact with Lun Lamei for many years. I can’t bear the title of nephew-in-law that you bestow upon me."

This statement confirmed that these two ruffians were relatives of his ex-wife, making the teacher’s mother’s expression even more unsightly. Noticing her daughter present, she sternly said:

"Xiaolan, come over here."

The situation was starting to spiral out of control, and Suizi became anxiously contemplative.

This scene was not favorable for Su Zhe.

All the groundwork she and Jingting had laid was about to pay off, but now it was being disrupted by these two hooligans who came out of nowhere.

"Jingting, let me handle this matter," Su Zhe spoke up, not wanting his friend to always have to intervene on his behalf.

"I don’t know what difficulty you’ve encountered, but this is a public place; it’s not good to inconvenience others. Let’s find a quiet place to talk," Su Zhe said in a rare long speech.

After speaking, he addressed the teacher’s parents, "I will explain to you when I get back, and give Xiaolan an explanation."

Though the teacher’s mother was dissatisfied with the situation, she couldn’t say much, and she pulled her daughter to leave.

"Mom, Dad, I’ll stay," Xiaolan said.

Shimama stared with eyes wide with fury. What was she trying to do?

"Professor Su is just too honest and kindhearted; I’m afraid he might get bullied by others," the senior nun voiced the first thought that sprang to her mind when she saw the couple entwining Su Zhe.

Shimama felt indignation at her lack of fight. This foolish maiden hadn’t even married into the family yet, and she was already taking their side. If she were to be sold out, would she even help count the money?

She hastily nudged her husband, signaling for him to step up and say something, but she noticed her husband wore the same expression as their daughter and was even nodding in approval.

"That’s fine, follow Xiaosu and don’t let anyone bully him."

Ever since the Principal had made the arrangements, Uncle Su had been downgraded to "Xiaosu".

Shimama was heartbroken, her husband had turned traitor!

Yu Jingting invited them cheerfully.

"Uncle, Auntie, why don’t we take a seat in the Tea House next door? After Su Zhe is done here, I’ll take you home."

Shidad didn’t wait for Shimama to speak and nodded first.

"Okay, we’ll do as you say." After speaking, he didn’t forget to give his daughter a meaningful look, clearly saying if Su Zhe ran into trouble, they should call him over from the Tea House.

At their beck and call.

Shimama gritted her teeth, this father-daughter pair was embarrassingly unassertive. Things hardly got started and they were already treating Su Zhe as one of their own.

But with her husband having spoken, Shimama couldn’t say anything and could only leave with a dark expression on her face.

Yu Jingting patted Suizi, indicating her to entertain Shidad and Shimama. He then followed Su Zhe and the senior nun out, leading the two hooligans out the door.

The two scoundrels were hoping to freeload a meal from Su Zhe or follow him to the Tea House to see what a city’s Tea House was like.

Su Zhe originally had this intention too, but Yu Jingting disagreed.

He knew their minds best; he wouldn’t let them take advantage of even a single cent.

He directly led them onto his car, and with the car door shut, no matter how much they made a racket, it couldn’t be heard from the outside.

Forget about drinking tea, he wouldn’t even buy them a soda that cost three cents.

"Nephew-in-law, now that you’ve made it big, but as the saying goes, ’One day as husband and wife means an eternity of obligation.’ Even for Lamei’s sake, you can’t just ignore us," they pleaded.

"It doesn’t matter if it’s you or if Lun Lamei herself comes; it won’t work," Yu Jingting shot back without hesitation.

These two hooligans had such thick skins that he simply couldn’t deal with them in a normal way; they would take mile if given an inch.

"I made it very clear when I divorced Lun Lamei. From now on, we’d have nothing to do with each other. I won’t agree to a single thing that you are asking for," he declared.

"Now you are both doing well for yourselves, but there’s a saying, ’The barefoot are not afraid of the shod.’ Aren’t you afraid we might make a scene at Su Zhe’s workplace?" the aunt bravely confronted Yu Jingting, suppressing her fear of him.

Money talks, and in pursuit of it, they would even dare to confront a publicly feared "evil spirit" like Yu Jingting.

They dared to make a scene precisely because they knew how to be annoying and bet that Su Zhe, who had a decent job, couldn’t withstand the agitation.

The aunt’s gaze fell on the silent senior nun’s face, and with a conniving glance, she said viciously:

"Girl, you must be the one he recently got involved with, right? He dumped my niece, and he could do the same to you in the future. Do you really dare to be with him?"

"Damn it," Yu Jingting pulled open the car door, ready to drag the people out from the back seat and give them a beating.

"Hold on, let me interject for a moment—" the senior nun finally spoke.
