I am chasing a rough man in the 80s
Chapter 882: Treating Suizi’s Eye Condition

Chapter 882: Chapter 882: Treating Suizi’s Eye Condition

After dinner, Jiaojiao pricked up her ears and heard the familiar TV drama theme song coming from the living room, confirming that mom and dad were watching TV.

Calculating with her fingers, she figured her color-hearted brother should be cozily snuggled up with his wife by now, with the two little ones likely keeping mom and dad company.

She pushed open the window to climb out, then tiptoed to push open the back door and headed straight for Xiao Pang’s house in the backyard.

She thought she had done all this without anyone being the wiser.

On the rooftop, Yu Jingting was sitting cross-legged on a mat, lips curled in disdain.

"How did I end up with such a brazen sister? She thinks she’s being stealthy? I’ll lock the back door later, and electrify the wire on the courtyard wall—"

Suizi, sitting beside him, just shook her head; hearing him talk about electrifying the wire, she nearly flipped him off the roof in anger.

"How mean can you get? Enjoy picking on your little sister, huh?!"

She really felt sorry for Jiaojiao; how could she have such a shameless brother.

"I just can’t stand the way she sneaks around!"

"...Don’t go making up weird words! Actually, you’re just jealous that Jiaojiao cares about Xiao Pang, aren’t you?"

"Hah! I’m her elder brother! What’s there for me to be jealous of? When she was born, I was the one changing her diapers! When she grew up, it was me leading her to steal melons! Xiao Pang is nothing!"

...He was indeed jealous. Suizi rolled her eyes; he could be so petty.

"Having a little friend to grow up and cause mischief with is pretty nice, too."

Suizi propped her chin on her hands and watched as Jiaojiao’s figure disappeared around the corner, feeling nostalgic about youth.

"When she slipped out just now, why didn’t you call her out?" Yu Jingting wanted to shout out and give the rebellious maiden a scare.

"Children have to grow up. As their guardians, we can’t control their lives in the name of what’s good for them. As long as they don’t stray off the path, these little things don’t matter."

Upon hearing this, Yu Jingting narrowed his eyes and pretended to take off his pants.

Suizi was full of question marks; what was this guy doing?

All he said to himself was, "My wife must have eye trouble, no way such a clever girl wouldn’t see what that little rascal Xiao Pang is up to."

"So, what does that have to do with you taking off your pants?"

As slowly as Suizi blinked, Yu Jingting unbuckled his belt just as quickly.

"As a loving husband, I’m worried you can’t see clearly because of your eye trouble. I’m specially presenting my treasure hidden for 25 years; come, take a look. Can you see what this is?"

"...???"

Suizi was utterly dumbfounded.

Even though she knew she hadn’t married a prize, this guy’s bottom line seemed to be plummeting every day?

"What are you doing being so wild on the roof!!! Are you not embarrassed for people to see?!" Suizi lowered her voice.

Yu Jingting’s laughter at her cautious expression delighted him; he just loved her innocent yet desiring cute look!

"What are you two doing on the rooftop instead of watching TV in the house at night?" Chen Lijun came out for air and heard her son-in-law’s loud laughter from the roof.

Although Suizi knew her mother couldn’t see from her angle, she still stood up guiltily, kicked the mat so it rolled up covering him, and frantically gestured with her eyes for him to get dressed quickly.

Yu Jingting buckled his pants leisurely and casually replied, "Mom, your daughter is night bird-watching. She’s so refined."

Suizi quickly sat back down, afraid her mother would see her blushing face if she didn’t move fast enough.

"Bird-watching at night?"

"Yeah, who would disagree? The little miss is just asking for it."

Suizi watched him talking nonsense, feeling an increasing urge to kick him off.

Wang Cuihua called out for her "drama buddy" from inside the house.

"The commercials are over, Lijun, come quickly! Ai Ma, I’m so annoyed, this guy is definitely not a good cookie."

Watching daily soap operas and mocking the male lead had apparently become these two women’s shared hobby.

Suizi nodded repeatedly on the roof, watching as Yu Jingting made a pun, "Right, not a good cookie, simply a rare commodity of this world!"

Yu Jingting, the target of her implied meaning, wasn’t upset, but instead blew air into her eyes.

"Wife, have your eyes recovered yet? Can’t you see the wild ambition of little Fatty? How about I give you another demonstration to exercise your vision?"

"Just cool it, a few more looks and I’ll go blind," Suizi said, meaning quite the opposite.

"That’s it, my military adviser’s skills have significantly declined, I’ve decided—"

"To change military advisers?" Suizi asked curiously.

"How can you change with a lifetime contract? Should I give you a shot to cure your stupidity?"

The usually good-tempered Suizi finally fought back, and the loose-lipped Yu Jingting suffered the revenge of a pounding on the chest with tiny fists.

After fooling around for a bit, Suizi brought the conversation back on track.

"Little Fatty is definitely fond of Jiaojiao, that much I can clearly see."

A boy teasing a girl doesn’t necessarily mean dislike; but courting, especially the pleasing kind from Little Fatty who does whatever he’s asked, definitely signals fondness.

As Little Fatty grew older, his personality became more calm and reserved. Since he took up Go, he spoke even less, and as his skills in the game improved, so did his ability to conceal his emotions. Sometimes, even Suizi found it difficult to read his thoughts from his expressions.

But whenever Jiaojiao was around, his emotions were easy to read. If Suizi couldn’t see what was on his mind, it would be somewhat unreasonable.

"Good, now I should start figuring out where to break this kid first," Yu Jingting said, touching his chin and looking determinedly at Little Fatty’s courtyard.

This truly is a case of guarding against thieves by day and night, only to find it’s hard to guard against an inside thief.

Jiaojiao has always had no shortage of suitors. Such a pretty girl would be popular anywhere, and she’s received countless love letters already.

As for those child’s play infatuations at school, Yu Jingting wasn’t worried.

His wife was quite skilled in educating children. With Suizi around, it wasn’t possible for Jiaojiao to have an early romance.

He was just worried about the human traffickers outside. Since Little Fatty’s family moved in, the two kids went to school together, providing a measure of safety for each other.

"I let him accompany Jiaojiao because I was worried about safety outside, yet this little rascal turns out to be the biggest security threat!"

"Why are you grinding your teeth? Little Fatty hasn’t made any actual moves—"

"He wants to make actual moves?!" Yu Jingting felt like wielding a knife.

Suizi rolled her eyes.

"Keep your voice down, or you’ll draw mom and dad here, and then things will really get blown up. We’re not at that stage yet."

To Suizi, these two kids were still within the realm of control.

If things were really out of hand, she would have intervened already, not letting Yu Jingting fret so persistently.

"It’s normal for children at this age to have a fondness for the opposite sex. Both kids know my bottom line, what they should and shouldn’t do."

Suizi folded her hands, leaning her chin on them and gazing into the distance.

"I’ll transfer Old Yuan to the south when I get back, let this conniving Little Fatty wolf cub follow him. If these two are like the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, I’ll still put a Milky Way between them—why are you looking at me like that?"

The look in his wife’s eyes was really disconcerting.
