Chapter 873: Chapter 873 As Long as The Laxative Is Administered Well
Clearly, the three children had completely won Grandpa Hu’s heart. Although Grandpa Hu had a bit of a preference for boys over girls, Jiaojiao was particularly forthright, and Luoluo knew how to curry favor with those in power. When she saw the elder’s distinguished presence, she couldn’t be eager enough.
The mood had already been set by the children of the Third Brigade, and as long as Fourth Uncle showed some attitude and gave Grandpa Hu a way out, the problem wouldn’t be too significant.
But this father and son pair would start quarreling as soon as they met.
One second ago, Grandpa Hu was chatting with Bobo, the next second he saw Fourth Uncle, he said disdainfully:
"Well, I was wondering why my eyelids were twitching nonstop, turns out it’s because an unfilial son is here."
"Oh, some old men really say one thing and mean another. Who was it that said they would never deal with each other even upon death?" Fourth Uncle retorted, not to be outdone.
Suizi felt a twitch at the corner of her eye and thought to herself, how could they be acting so much like kindergarteners quarreling?
She was genuinely afraid they’d suddenly start spitting at each other.
Fourth Uncle was normally the most stable person, so why did he turn into a petty child as soon as he encountered Grandpa Hu?
"Hey, how about we sit down, eat, and catch up on old times?" Wang Cuihua attempted to smooth things over.
Although she was wary of Grandpa Hu, she knew that her husband held him in his heart. Given that there was an opportunity for reconciliation, of course it would be better to reconcile; it was much better than constantly living in fear of confrontation.
"I’ll give your wife and kids some face and reluctantly join you for a meal," Grandpa Hu said with a touch of haughty coquettishness.
He was clearly quite pleased on the inside, but he always had to make it seem as though he was doing them a favor.
Fourth Uncle, seeing that Suizi and her husband had won over Grandpa Hu, was overjoyed, but he simply couldn’t stand the old man’s posturing.
"Oh please, don’t trouble yourself on my account! I’m worried you might have some contagious disease. With the mess of your private life, have you been disease-free these past few years?"
Suizi’s eye twitched even more vigorously, thinking, oh my god, she’s having trouble breathing.
Where on earth did these childish ghosts come from!
She had been hoping that Yu Jingting would say something to ease the situation, but saw him resting his chin in his hands, watching with great interest.
His fondness for watching drama had kicked in again!!!!!!
Suizi muttered to herself that none of the big players around her were serious in private, especially this Yu Tiegen. They were about to come to blows, and he wasn’t stepping in; he was just enjoying the uproar!
"You bastard! Unfilial son! Today I must teach you a lesson—pfft!"
Grandpa Hu was halfway through his stern declaration when a loud fart made its presence known.
In an instant, all his imposing aura vanished, leaving the scene extremely awkward.
Suizi’s "extra-strength cooling tea" had worked its magic again.
Wang Cuihua was a bundle of nerves mere seconds earlier, fearing the two men would come to blows. But then, the fart dissolved her anxiety.
Wang Cuihua’s mouth twitched, as she struggled to maintain her composure, silently chanting to herself: Don’t laugh! If you laugh, it’s all over!
Grandpa Hu’s face turned beet red. He had faced blades and swords all his life, never flinching even with a knife to his throat, yet this ill-timed fart had stripped him of all his dignity.
The scene was extremely awkward.
The three children ate with their heads down. Although they found it a bit funny, Suizi had taught them never to treat someone else’s misfortune as their own joke material.
Luoluo really wanted to offer some comfort by mentioning how her kindergarten friends would sometimes have accidents in their pants, and her mom said there was nothing to laugh about because sickness is normal and it happens to everyone.
But seeing that the adults weren’t speaking and her aunt was just eating, the smart kid also pretended she heard nothing.
"What are you looking at? Is an old man not allowed to fart?" Fourth Uncle kicked Yu Jingting to divert attention from Grandpa Hu.
Grandpa Hu clutched his stomach, showing a satisfied expression.
"Heh, at least you’ve got some conscience, boy. You’ll see when I get back!"
Clutching his stomach, he ran to the toilet.
Wang Cuihua witnessed this historic moment and didn’t dare to breathe.
It wasn’t until the old man had hurried off that Wang Cuihua began to compose herself.
"Is this, a reconciliation?"
"Hehe, my dad just took one for the team, made the old man happy. Later, my wife and I have to talk business with him. Dad, you need to show that same fearless spirit and work with us, okay?"
Siye grabbed a bowl of green onion and cilantro garnish and dumped it on his head.
"All that education gone to the dogs, what the hell are these damned descriptors?!"
Disgraceful winner, dad—what the heck!
Fearless gas blocker... yeesh!
"Dad, we’re dealing with big issues; can’t sweat the small stuff. Grandpa’s getting on in years, he’s part of the underdog crowd—" Suizi tried to argue.
"Where’s he ’under’ anything?!"
"He’s nearly prolapsed from all the shitting, no anti-diarrhea medicine in sight. Isn’t that ’under’?" Yu Jingting said.
Siye stroked his chin; that did seem pretty weak...
"Alright, I’ll tone it down. After all, I can’t hold it against an old man who’s nearly shat out his intestines."
Siye waved over a waiter and asked them to get some anti-diarrhea medicine from the hospital across the street.
The waiter looked troubled, it wasn’t easy to leave their post during work hours.
Siye pulled out a large bill, and the waiter immediately stated that serving the people was their duty.
Old Mr. Hu seemed much deflated when he came back, perhaps having emptied his stomach of "nothingness to shit". He didn’t argue with Siye anymore.
Suizi ordered a pot of Seafood Porridge to nourish the old man which earned his appreciation. Coupled with the waiter returning with the medicine, and Wang Cuihua and Suizi singing praises of Siye’s filial piety, the old man finally managed a smile.
The restaurant was noisy and not the place to discuss business details, so the family treated it like a family feast. Suizi had braced for a tense standoff between Siye and the old man, but surprisingly, there was harmony.
Siye’s "selfless gas blocking" seemed to have touched the old man, and with Yu Jingting’s masterful jabbering to set the backdrop, the meal ended amidst constant laughter and cheer.
After eating, seizing the good mood, Yu Jingting directly invited the old man to stay at his house instead of returning to the hotel.
The old man initially wanted to play hard to get, act a bit haughty, but couldn’t resist Wang Cuihua’s enthusiastic invitation.
Wang Cuihua knew how to handle people; she flattered the old man plenty and even tucked a chubby Bobo into his arms.
Once in his arms, Bobo nestled against his shoulder, looking drowsy.
The old man was "kidnapped" by the adorable child and followed along accordingly.
One car wasn’t enough for everyone, so Yu Jingting had his parents drive back, and he accompanied Suizi and Jiaojiao, flagging down a rickshaw by the roadside.
"Sister-in-law, I think grandpa is quite nice. Maybe mom had the wrong idea about him before?" Jiaojiao asked.
Wang Cuihua used to be very anxious, always imagining Siye starting a war with Old Mr. Hu, sometimes accidentally letting slip her concerns in front of the children.
It made Jiaojiao believe that Old Mr. Hu was some kind of a demon king. But today, she met him and found him very kind, even chatting with her about various exotic plants from his part of the world.
"It’s up to people to make a difference, like a knife; some use it to chop vegetables, others for different stuff. The knife itself isn’t good or bad—it’s how you use it. People are the same. As long as someone’s not human trash with character flaws, everything else comes down to how you deal with them."
Just as Suizi was about to educate the child, Yu Jingting drifted in with a comment:
"The medicine worked wonders, the old man can’t run away now."
