Chapter 839: Ancestors Were Bandits
Chapter 839: Chapter 839: Ancestors Were Bandits
Breakfast was prepared by Suizi using the company’s gas tank; she got up early and busied herself, quickly filling the table.
"Big sister-in-law is too virtuous, isn’t she?" The third brother had not eaten Northern cuisine for a long time, and was deeply moved by the small plates of pickles that Suizi brought to the table.
The sweet dishes around here really aren’t to my liking; big sister-in-law is like a little angel.
"It’s just a simple breakfast, nothing so exaggerated."
Suizi brought out the last plate of pancakes, and everyone’s eyes nearly popped out of their heads.
"How did you manage to make all this spread in such a short time?" The fourth brother also felt like the big sister-in-law was a magician, too amazing.
Not only did she make noodle soup, four small dishes, steamed Egg Custard, and made Egg Pancakes, but what was even more rare was that her culinary skills were superb, not at all inferior to the best hotels in Beijing.
"I’m used to it because my family has many people."
After the Yu Family moved to Beijing, they lived close to Suizi’s maternal home, and gathered together for meals every now and then; Suizi’s efficiency in cooking improved as a result.
"Let’s just make do with breakfast, and I’ll stir-fry a few dishes for everyone at noon."
Suizi’s words made everyone cheer, and they were just short of bowing three times to her. With big sister-in-law around, life is simply heavenly.
"Big brother has a flight to catch tonight, do you have the heart to bother big sister-in-law?" Only the second brother remembered to say some polite words.
"Second brother, don’t you want to eat the Northern dishes big sister-in-law makes?"
"Er— *cough cough*, then let’s not bother big sister-in-law too much. You guys should help out."
Although the second brother wanted to maintain politeness, the thought of the overly sweet dishes outside made him shamefully capitulate.
There was no way around it, big sister-in-law’s cooking was too good. Even a simple dish of noodle soup was made appetizing and smooth by her, and after one bowl, it felt as though the whole body was filled with energy.
More enviable than Suizi’s cooking skills was her attitude towards Jingting.
Suizi fed Yu Jingting’s breakfast, under the pretext that there were some abrasions on his palm, and she worried that holding the bowl might hurt him.
So, she blew on the food to cool it down and fed him bite by bite.
Whether Yu Jingting was intentionally trying to annoy his brothers or what, he acted like a big baby while Suizi fed him, clearly enjoying himself and shamelessly inducing a wave of jealousy.
While eating, he also swept everyone with a look that said, "You single dogs will never understand the happiness of a married man."
Finally, his brothers couldn’t watch it anymore.
"Big brother, your hand isn’t so badly hurt that you can’t eat, right?"
While Suizi was in the kitchen getting more food for Yu Jingting, the third brother couldn’t help asking. Just watching the big brother show off was enough to make him feel full.
"Nonsense, I’m a real man; what’s this minor injury?" Yu Jingting snatched the last piece of cucumber from the plate with precise chopstick skills and even took advantage of Suizi’s absence to gulp down two mouthfuls from the youngest brother’s cup.
"Drinking alcohol so early in the morning? What is this, sweet as candy and just as annoying, blah, it doesn’t taste good."
After stealing someone’s drink, he still had the audacity to complain about it.
Everyone was speechless.
This guy, in front of his big sister-in-law, pretended to be severely ill, but the moment she was out of sight, he started acting high and mighty.
"Big brother, you’re worried that big sister-in-law won’t let you recover properly and will forbid you from drinking, so you even steal my Rice Wine? Aren’t you being a bit shameless here, enjoying the patient’s perks while not fulfilling the patient’s duties?" The fifth brother spoke up for his beloved Rice Wine.
"This is the wisdom of a married man, what would you know?" Yu Jingting was smug. If his wife turned gentle, she’d truly be unmatched.
He wouldn’t tell these brats that he had to fake illness not only to dupe his wife into feeding him.
Even at night, he planned to trick his wife into taking the initiative to climb on top, oh ho ho, after all, who could blame a sick man?
The others couldn’t hear his inner thoughts, but from his unashamedly smug expression, it wasn’t hard to guess that this guy was certainly up to no good.
"Big brother, you managed to marry big sister purely by being shameless, right? We seriously suspect that when you took her as your fortress lady, she was young and naive."
When this topic came up, Yu Jingting suddenly became spirited.
With hands on his hips, he sat there and began to boast.
"My ancestors were actually bandits. In terms of snatching a fortress lady, although I was born with a head start, your big sister wasn’t someone I captured. She was—"
Just as he was about to brag about his endless charm, he caught sight of Suizi returning with a bowl and quickly changed his tune.
"It was because I found your big sister beautiful and talented, so I persistently wooed her until I married her!"
As soon as Suizi returned, Yu Jingting couldn’t even hold his chopsticks properly, and he pushed his wine cup far away, sitting there with the look of a seriously injured patient waiting to be served, while not forgetting to step on Little Fifth a few times.
"Little Fifth, don’t drink alcohol early in the morning— it’s not good for your health. Wife, am I right?"
Suizi nodded, and Little Fifth held the empty wine cup that his big brother had snatched away, on the verge of tears.
Everyone was once again shocked by the thickness of his skin. They truly witnessed the wisdom of a married man.
"What are you all chatting about so happily?" asked Suizi.
"We’re talking about Big Brother’s family background—were his ancestors really bandits?"
Suizi nodded, indeed.
"Great-grandfather’s generation ruled the mountains, but grandfather was highly enlightened, abandoned the dark and sought light, followed the Party, carried stretchers to save the wounded and made great contributions. That’s why our Jingting is also of pure and noble descent."
"Stop praising him there, Big Sister. Just look at Big Brother—does he have even a bit of proletarian consciousness? No wonder we always felt he acts boss-like and brash. Turns out his ancestors were bandits; it all makes sense now."
Everyone felt that if you dropped Yu Jingting in ancient times, into a den of bandits, he would blend in seamlessly with the bandit aura.
"Speaking of bandits, I just remembered something." Little Fourth picked up a newspaper.
"Big brother, take a look at this."
Yu Jingting saw it was all traditional characters, and handed it to Suizi casually. The young lady who often read traditional manuscript copies should find this sort of thing easy to read.
Suizi glared at him reproachfully, took it directly, and only read two characters before feeling it was inappropriate—her face turned red at once.
"To satisfy a business tycoon, a famous actress has ceased menstruating—"
These were headlines from Hong Kong newspapers, each more sensational than the last.
Such headlines were unthinkable on the mainland, but quite normal over there. Suizi felt embarrassed just reading the title.
These kinds of entertainment weeklies were only of interest to Little Fourth; no one else had seen them.
"What does it say inside, Big Sister?"
"Uh—" Suizi really couldn’t continue reading; the content was almost as daring as the manuscript copies in her home!
Scanning the article quickly, she extracted the central idea in just one sentence.
"This headline tells a story of a woman adorning herself for the man she adores."
The crowd squinted. An entire page, and she summarized it with just one sentence?
"Speak human language," Yu Jingting told his wife.
"It talks about an actress who, in order to cling to a wealthy tycoon, dieted so severely that she stopped menstruating... Hey, isn’t this woman—?"
Suizi saw the picture in the newspaper, her eyes widened.
"Exactly! It’s the ’May-December’ couple Big Brother saved yesterday. That young lady is a female star, and the old man she’s desperately clinging to is the one written about here, Yu Youchan!"
