Chapter 788: Chapter 788: Unreasonable (50+ Monthly Tickets Updated)

"Suizi, what are you looking at?" Liu Yanan asked, noticing that Suizi kept looking back even when she’d moved quite far away.

"Nothing, I just saw someone who resembles a friend of mine."

Suzi withdrew her gaze and pressed her lips together.

From what she had just said, if the person in the car was listening attentively, they should be able to understand the hint she’d given.

She had regained her memory now. If Dayu were really in the car, given his intelligence, he would have understood that fact.

Suizi had told Yu Jingting that Dayu might have been used by others and that he likely didn’t mean any harm when he wrote her that letter.

But no one would believe these words, let alone Yu Jingting, a very astute man.

He hadn’t exposed Suizi’s lies; he just didn’t want to put her in a difficult position.

Suizi knew very well that Que Wuyu wrote such a letter during her amnesia phase with a hidden agenda, intending for outsiders to exploit her and manipulate her father through her.

As Yu Jingting’s bedfellow, she knew his temperaments and character well. The fact that Yu Jingting had let Dayu off once was a great favor to her.

If Dayu continued to mix up with those people, Yu Jingting would never let him off the hook. This was his bottom line.

All Suizi could do was to remind her friend from her past life to apply the brakes before it got out of hand, to not entangle himself with the Mei or Fan family, and to avoid confronting Yu Jingting directly.

Being an enemy of Yu Jingting was anything but comfortable.

The current Dayu was in no position to compete with Yu Jingting. If there was a showdown, Suizi would be caught in the middle, which would make her position very difficult.

With all these thoughts running through her mind, Suizi was distracted while shopping and made a mistake while picking the crabs.

The seafood vendor was quick with her hands. While Suizi was daydreaming, she quickly shoved three dead crabs into the bag.

These seafood vendors often have this trick where they pretend to help the customer choose, their actions so swift that it would be hard to guard against. They would either add those that were particularly hollow or dead crabs. Had Suizi been attentive, she would not have been cheated.

The unmindful Suizi remained ignorant of this, purchased a pile of vegetables, and walked out loaded with bags along with Liu Yanan.

Upon arriving at the parking area and not seeing that car from earlier, Suizi took a deep breath of relief.

She and Liu Yanan were cycling back home when halfway through the ride, the bicycle broke down.

"Ah, am I too heavy? Did I break the bicycle?" Liu Yanan examined the bicycle after getting off it and found that the bicycle tire had burst with a loud noise.

"Let’s push it back. There’s no repair shop nearby." Suizi also had a headache; the market they had come to today was quite a distance away from their home, but the vegetables were relatively fresh.

From behind them came the sound of a car horn, and Que Wuyu’s car stopped beside Suizi.

"Do you need help... Hansui?" Que Wuyu enunciated the name he had practiced several times in his mind.

"No need-" When Suizi saw him, her mind started buzzing again.

Hearing his address for her, she had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.

Could it be that Dayu didn’t grasp the hint she’d given him earlier? Did he not realize that she had regained her memory?

According to the trajectory of this life, they were still strangers. If he dared to address her in such a manner, wasn’t it clear that he still thought she had amnesia? Did he want to get involved with the Mei family and stand against her and Yu Jingting?

"Eh, you know Suizi?" Liu Yanan, looking at the man in the car, asked curiously.

To Liu Yanan, Que Wuyu was unlike the rugged men from the north, bearing a refined urban quality.

"I’m a good friend of hers from university. In fact, I even wrote her a letter the day before yesterday." Que Wuyu’s gaze fell on Suizi, his voice tense.

Suizi hesitated for a moment, then said to Liu Yanan: "Yanan, you go home first. I have a few words to speak with him."

Listening to Suizi’s words, Liu Yanan left first, her mind filled with gossip and curiosity.

What could that polite-looking man want from Suizi?

Unable to contain her curiosity, Liu Yanan looked back. Not paying attention, she nearly knocked Shen Jun with her bicycle.

"What are you looking at?" Shen Jun asked.

"Ah! You scared me- why aren’t you at the hospital? Why did you come back at this hour?" Liu Yanan was surprised to see Shen Jun.

"The old man fell asleep, and I was left with nothing to do; the ward was stifling. The man in the next bed was groaning in pain after his anesthesia wore off. I couldn’t sleep, so I came back. Who paid for all these vegetables?"

Shen Jun looked through the vegetables on the bicycle handle, got excited see the crabs, then immediately frowned when he saw Liu Yanan was the only one there.

In fact, he’d intentionally returned at mealtime because before he’d left, he heard Little Luobo from Suizi’s house telling Wang Cuihua that he wanted to eat crab.

The mention of crab picked his interest to the point that he had been distracted even while attending to his father in the hospital, so he found an excuse to return.

They weren’t near the sea in the north, so he had not tasted this delicacy before. Having heard that it was delicious, he’d finally found an opportunity to taste it.

Although he was happy to see the crabs, if his wife had paid for them, he would not find it amusing.

"It’s Suizi who bought it; she didn’t let me pay; we had quite an argument over it."

Upon hearing that Chen Hansui had paid, Shen Jun’s mood brightened.

"Where did Chen Hansui go?"

"Behind- why do you care where she is? Let’s go. You need to help auntie with the vegetables." Liu Yanan was initially going to say ’behind’ but on second thought, knowing that Shen Jun wasn’t a good person and that if he sees, he would gossip about it, she decided to cover for Suizi.

But her attitude aroused Shen Jun’s suspicion. He looked around and saw Que Wuyu standing with Suizi.

"Oh, this old classmate of ours is really capable. Everywhere she goes, she hooks up with men who drive small cars. Isn’t having Yu Jingting at home enough? She has an affair outside as well?" On seeing them, Shen Jun looked disgusted immediately.

During school, he had pursued Suizi and written her letters which Suizi hadn’t even opened but returned to him.

This incident was a profound humiliation to him.

Shen Jun had always believed that Suizi, having rejected him, would live an unfortunate life, getting sadder and lonelier as time went on.

However, not only did Suizi not become desolate, her life kept improving, and her entire family had moved to Beijing.

Shen Jun had always held a grudge against Suizi. Now that he had discovered her "shameful" secret, he felt as though he’d guzzled an energy drink and was instantly charged up.

"What nonsense are you spouting? Can’t you watch your mouth? What do you mean by having an affair? They’re just talking as ordinary friends." Liu Yanan felt a pang of nausea, finding Shen Jun increasingly disgusting.

She must heed Suizi’s advice, work hard when she gets back, and stay as far away from this wretch as possible.

"Ordinary friends? If they were just ordinary friends, why would she send you away? To me, she is a flirt. She has given Yu Jingting a cuckold’s hat. Ha, Yu Jingting is indeed an unlucky man. What use is owning a car if his wife is unfaithful-- Ah!"

Liu Yanan found him to be unreasonable, so she picked up a live crab and placed it on Shen Jun’s arm. The crab clamped its claw precisely on Shen Jun’s elbow and he screamed.

"Let the crab squeeze out the water in your brain. Can you watch your mouth? If you dare to blabber again, you won’t be able to live. I’m embarrassed for you."
