I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -
Chapter 77: Give to Whoever You Wish (+more)
Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Give to Whoever You Wish (+more)
Suizi quickly grabbed his hand, trying hard to suppress her laughter.
"You can’t explode things anymore , our chickens were so scared because of you, they laid extra eggs and haven’t recovered yet..." She finally couldn’t suppress her giggles staring at his fierce facial expression. Her crisp laughter echoed across the courtyard.
"Laugh your ass off! If you laugh again, I’ll kiss you!" Yu Jingting made an even fiercer face, his hand straying to Suizi’s waist.
Suizi dared not laugh anymore.
What would it taste like? Eating in front of the goose pen?
"Jingting, she mistreated our mom and you guys a lot back then, didn’t she?" Suizi asked.
Yu Jingting, leaning on the fence of the goose pen with one hand and squinting his eyes, didn’t answer.
Both of the geese at home were old now, and so was the old lady.
"Youth will not come again, a day will not dawn again. Those who have wronged us are growing old while we are gradually growing up under the relentless passage of time." Suizi’s words are filled with sentiments.
Time had slipped through her fingers mischievously. She was unable to return to the past to face the hardships with young Gengen.
But she could seize the present, stand by his side, witness this boy growing stronger each day, and eventually become a mature man with considerable influence.
The emotional Suizi stretched out her arm, wrapped it around his waist from behind, buried her face in his shoulder, her cheeks flushed.
This is the life she chose, she liked the happiness of struggling together, no matter how subtle it was—
Suizi’s head full of inspiringly romantic thoughts was interrupted by Yu Jingting’s composed words.
"Want some?"
"???"
Yu Jingting reached out his hand to clasp her plump little hand at his waist, hinting with an apparent squeeze.
"???" She was trying to have an earnest conversation with him. What was he thinking about?
Why did the atmosphere suddenly become strange?
Yu Jingting slapped the wooden fence of the goose pen with one hand, and pulled Suizi to stand in front of him with her back facing him.
Yu Jingting, seriously positioning Suizi with her back towards him, and her plump little hands on the goose pen just shook his head.
"No way, it can’t bear your weight. If you press down and it collapses, what about Tieqiu and Tiebing?"
Finally, Suizi confirmed that she wasn’t overthinking!
This guy was really up to no good!
"Yu, Tie, Gen!!!!"
Suizi’s shouting shook off the snow on the plastic sheet covering the goose pen.
"This girl, why the sudden change? When you’re on good terms with me, you call me Jingting, but when you’re unreasonable, you call me Tiegen?"
Women, huh!
Suizi felt like she was about to explode, and her face turned from red to yellow.
What a load of nonsense!
"How did you know such a complex phrase as ’wish but can’t get’?!"
It was quite a surprise that Yu Jingting, who’s usually full of silly talk, could use such profound language. It was as surprising as learning that Suizi was capable of a verbal battle with others.
Yu Jingting proudly rubbed his nose.
He didn’t listen to the storytelling for nothing!
"Hey, I’m telling you, chubby girl, although the goose pen can’t support your large size, how about the well? The well’s edge is so high, you can just lie on it— Hey, do you dare to scratch me?!"
Not only was he scratched, but she also grabbed his trotters, took a big bite, and angrily strode into the house.
After driving her away, Yu Jingting contently stayed at the spot to savor the scene of being bitten by her.
The courtyard was so big; weren’t there other places other than the well?
He excitedly chased her into the house, wanting to discuss with Suizi about the "The broad space of the courtyard has great potential" issue.
Seeing his sly face, Suizi knew that he was about to talk nonsense again.
Before he could spit out his golden lines, she pushed a stack of corrected composition books in front of him.
"What’s this?"
"These are praises the children wrote about you. Have a look."
"Handsome and elegant, with mysterious eyes that see through all the darkness and deceit?" Was this about him or Erlang God?
Yu Jingting rubbed his chicken skin, did these children really think he hadn’t heard the story of Erlang God?
These words were used to describe Erlang god.
The funniest thing was that his wife even circled this paragraph, seems she liked this sentence.
"How did you figure out that I, your man, have the potential to be Yang Erlang? Do you want me to draw an eye on my forehead to match?"
Yu Jingting then opened the next book, glanced at it, and could not continue.
"What the heck?! When did I fetch water for a widow?!! Good lord, did I assist the old sow in giving birth at Granny Wang’s house in the middle of the night?!!"
Were these kids serious about complimenting people this way?
Suizi also started to laugh.
"You don’t do enough good deeds in your daily life. The children find it difficult to praise you so they have to... just imagine things."
It wasn’t easy for these children. When the teacher asked them to write an essay praising Yu Jingting, they didn’t know what to write.
Those with a radio at home picked a few phrases from the storytelling to cope.
Those without a radio asked their parents, what were the good deeds and who were the good people?
Hence, deeds like assisting a sow in giving birth and fetching water for a widow were made up.
"Goodness! This is even more outrageous! What’s the name of this kid, I’ll find him and beat him up!" Yu Jingting frowned ferociously.
The essay stated that he and the child’s father went up to the mountain together and encountered a snake. The father was bitten, and Yu Jingting, without a second thought, valiantly sucked out the venom.
He didn’t know who told the misinterpreted story, and part of the story ended up on Yu Jingting’s shoulders.
"A snake bit his foot, and I sucked the venom out?!!! Who knows if he has foot odor. Nah, this kid is really asking for a beating—you’re laughing at this?!"
Suizi was lying on the table, laughing so hard her stomach hurt, and kept pounding on the table.
Although these good deeds were made up, the children’s sincere intentions to praise him were there.
"Look, the children will sing your praises, even if they have to make up stories to do so. Can you feel their simple affection for you?"
Yu Jingting snorted coldly.
He didn’t need this type of affection if it means sucking poison out of someone’s foot. Whoever wants it, they can have it.
"Why do I feel, that you’re secretly plotting something? What’s the ulterior motive in you flattering me all of a sudden?"
Suizi’s laugh froze on her face.
She thought she’d been less noticeable, but it turns out he had figured it out.
Yes, from planning the catch of the thieves, to getting him in the newspaper, to subtly allowing his mother-in-law to show off his certificate, and now having the students write essays to praise him, they were all part of Suizi’s master plan.
"If the impression you leave on others is that of an ignorant street urchin, then even decades later, even if you have established your own business, people will still look at you with tainted glasses."
All his struggles and hard work were hidden behind his legendary stories.
But for the others, everything he did was colored with a black filter. Some people said his business dealings were shady, others gossiped about him bullying men and dominating women, spreading rumors with form and substance.
Even now, there were people who pinned things he’d never done on him.
"I don’t give a damn, it’s not like I haven’t heard this type of stuff."
This was how he’d come this far since he was a boy.
"You might not care, but I care, and it matters to her." Suizi put her hand on her belly. Her eyes were full of determination.
This deification action, was just the beginning.
