Chapter 733: No One is Fool Except Her
Chapter 733: Chapter 733: No One is Fool Except Her
Whether Qian Jun’s family actually moved out or not slipped by unnoticed in Suizi’s family. Anyway, they did not see any trace of them since then.
During this vacation, Suizi was occupied showing a few of the children around, while Yu Jingting was busy managing the roller skating rink.
In a blink of an eye, a month passed.
At the end of the month, the Fan family gathered together—it was the agreed upon day to distribute dividends.
Chen Lijun specially booked their best restaurant for this reunion celebration; everyone was gathered joyfully.
Every attendee arrived early, except Fan Huang’s family who hadn’t shown up yet.
Mother Fan glumly sat at the head of the table. She did not want to hear anything about that family, but the more she resisted, the more people enjoyed talking about them.
"Big Sister-in-law, you are so blessed to have a good daughter-in-law. Lijun’s son-in-law is really amazing. I passed by the Wireless Factory the other day and it was packed."
The third house of the Fan family couldn’t help but beam a wide smile, the fourth house also nodded in agreement.
These people, who had previously lamented their losses, were now in jubilant spirits upon hearing about their profits. In their joy, they quickly forgot how they had previously looked down on Yu Jingting.
With praises from left and right, words to flatter Mother Fan flowed like a river.
"He is just a greenhorn, how much can he really earn? A roller-skating rink, huh, it’s nothing but a trick played by riff-raffs. How much money can it bring in? Don’t hold too much hope in him. Perhaps this meal is his apology, didn’t you notice that the boy hasn’t shown up yet?"
Mother Fan rooted for the roller-skating rink to collapse.
Though she had also invested money, the small amount paled in comparison to acknowledging Chen Lijun—it was not worth mentioning.
Chen Hansui and his wife, in Mother Fan’s eyes, were just Chen Lijun’s accomplices. She couldn’t bear to see that family succeed.
Mother Fan even secretly hoped that they would go bankrupt, run away, and out of shame, the entire family would jump into a river.
"Sorry for being late and keeping everyone waiting." Yu Jingting entered with a big smile. He was followed by Suizi, with no signs of Chen Lijun and her husband.
"Where is your father? Where is Chen Lijun?" Mother Fan squinted at the young couple.
Anticipating seeing their withered faces from losing money, Mother Fan was taken aback when Suizi’s small face appeared fair, even slightly flushed from the heat—she looked extremely healthy.
"My mother went to the hospital, and my dad is accompanying her, so they won’t be coming." Suizi replied.
"Ah, what illness does she have? So critical, is it a terminal illness?" Mother Fan perked up at this news.
With sympathetic eyes, Suizi looked at her in a way that almost said "take care of the elderly."
Her mom had been pregnant for more than two months, and this old lady was totally unaware. Her dad had no intention of telling the old lady; clearly, he wanted to avenge her mom.
As the old lady was making things difficult, it would eventually backfire on her.
"No sickness, just a routine checkup," Yu Jingting replied.
All heads turned towards him.
Fan Xi immediately straightened up.
"Does mother-in-law have some good news?"
"Hah, what good news can she have? At her age, should she really be able to give birth, she would have done so long ago. I believe she merely devised an excuse to escape from the gathering. She does not want to show filial respect to me, her mother-in-law!"
Mother Fan snapped at Fan Xi.
Fan Xi, the most cunning among Suizi’s peers, took a glance at the expressions of Suizi, her husband, and Mother Fan. She recalled events that recently took place at home and focused on Fan Huang’s attitude. She reached a conclusion in her heart.
Seeing that others haven’t come to their senses, Fan Xi wisely hung her head down.
"Yes, yes, yes, you have many wrinkles, you eat a lot of salt, you’re always right," Yu Jingting smoothly quipped back at Mother Fan while smiling.
"Why should I eat so much salt?!" Mother Fan snorted.
"Well, isn’t that what you always say? That you’ve eaten more salt than I’ve walked roads, which means you must not be afraid of throat irritation."
With the ability to insult people while making it sound like a joke, Yu Jingting was truly unique.
Fearing that Mother Fan’s outburst might delay the main event, the members of the Fan family quickly rose from their seats to mediate.
"Jingting, sit down quickly. We’re just waiting for you. The dishes are getting cold."
Such was the art of speech. Clearly, everyone was worried about the amount of money they were going to share, but no one dared to utter the word ’money’.
"If I don’t clear up this account, I’m afraid not only the dishes will get cold, but your hearts will grow cold too, am I right?" Yu Jingting didn’t beat around the bush and placed a briefcase on an empty table. Under the watchful eyes of everyone, he opened it.
It was full of money.
Bundles of money held together with rubber bands, each with a note stating to whom it belonged.
Gasp of astonishment filled the room.
"The accounts for this month’s profit are here. The names are written on the money. My wife personally calculated it all down to the last cent. There is not a single cent of discrepancy. Please check it out."
Although Yu Jingting’s words seemed polite, his authoritative demeanor—especially while standing beside his beautiful and stylish wife—seemed fit for a rural lord.
Instantly, members of the Fan family stood up. Using the excuse of lighting a cigarette and pouring tea for Jingting, they took a sneak peek at the numbers. Their satisfied smiles couldn’t be concealed.
"Jingting, how on earth did you manage this? You really revived that factory."
"If you had a father-in-law who is a high-ranking official like he does, you could do it too. Not to mention you; even a dog could be successful there, as long as they can bark, nothing would stop the profits."
Mother Fan started ranting again.
Upon hearing her husband being mentioned, Suizi, who had been dozing off beside Yu Jingting, immediately perked up.
"If you say that, we really have to clarify things. The previous owners of the Wireless Factory were all people present now, right? Are you calling them dogs? Several uncles can’t figure it out, you can’t insult them like that."
After being supressed by Suizi’s words, Mother Fan could only glower and say, "Without your father, what can you two kids accomplish?"
"If you want to say that, I must explain one thing clearly. My father didn’t manage any part of this, he didn’t put any money in it and didn’t provide any manpower. All the paperwork was handled by Jingting and me. We kept all the bills."
Suizi had guessed that some people would eat the meat in their bowls while cursing the kitchen. She had rehearsed her speech at home in advance, fearing that she would falter at a critical moment.
Since she got a chance to use these words, Suizi’s cheerful face was shining, and she had the sense of accomplishment as if she had answered the big question in the college entrance examination correctly.
"Since grandma feels this way, we shouldn’t bother about these matters anymore and we will withdraw from any involvement. This meal will serve as our farewell meal. We definitely can’t invite any trouble to my clean and honest father-in-law." After saying this, Yu Jingting made a move to grab his wine glass, indicating a toast for the forthcoming severance.
As soon as he got up, two of the Fan Family members held him down, coaxing him from both sides.
"Jingting, we can’t be petty with grandma. Grandma is just talking nonsense because she drank too much. We can’t afford to lose you guys. We are looking forward to the dividends for next month."
Everyone agreed.
Mother Fan insisted on being right, but others were not foolish. They, too, had stealthily considered taking over the roller-skating rink during the month. But after much contemplation, they came to a conclusion.
The rink could only make a profit while under Yu Jingting’s control. In their own hands, it would be a total disaster. They were fortunate enough to sit back and reap the benefits as shareholders. Who would be willing to exhaust themselves and risk losing money, risking being cursed by relatives?
