Chapter 713: Guessed It Right
Chapter 713: Chapter 713: Guessed It Right
The chubby child was covered in dirt, soaked to the bone, and though visibly uninjured, he was sobbing uncontrollably.
In just a brief moment, he had experienced the darkest hour of his life.
He cried out for his mother.
Seeing her large child in this situation, his mother, paler than ever, rushed over and picked him up.
"Where are you hurt?"
"They, they...." The chubby child stuttered, pointing at the boy and girl twins.
For such a big child, it would be quite difficult to describe a situation, and unsurprisingly, the story was not entirely clear.
"How could you bully your big brother?!" The older mother felt sorry for her child and reprimanded the twins.
"He asked for it." Bobo said.
Suizi walked over and crouched down to talk to the children.
"What happened?"
"He pulled Luoluo’s braids with his hand and threw sand at me. He pulled her braids three times and threw sand four times." Bobo, usually not talkative, provided a lucid, logical account of events.
With a simple sentence, the cause and course of the incident were clearly stated.
"He had done this twice before, trying to push Luoluo against the wall just now."
Bobo made his statement.
Their parents had taught them to be patient with people, to endure when possible.
However, their father had one caveat: when endurance was no longer possible, there was no need for it.
Bobo stepped in only when he saw the chubby child trying to push Luoluo into a wall.
"Why is your child so impolite? Your big brother is just trying to play with you! Can’t you see that?" The older mom, seeing her son tongue-tied in the face of accusations, jumped to his defense in desperation.
Luoluo, standing by, calmly picked up a handful of dirt and dumped it on the woman’s sandals, causing her to scream.
"Is that so?" Luoluo asked innocently with a giggle.
"He did to us what we did to him, nothing more, nothing less." Bobo said.
"Big bully with a chicken heart." Luoluo quoted something she learned from her dad, applying it perfectly to the situation.
The woman didn’t anticipate being silenced by toddlers. In desperation, she sought help from Suizi.
"They are already so ill-mannered at such a young age. Don’t you educate them?"
"Kids should sort out their disputes amongst themselves. I won’t interfere as long as they aren’t crossing any lines. I think you should put your son down and let them work things out." Suizi said.
After hearing both sides of the story, Suizi had made up her mind.
If her own children were in the wrong, they should apologize, but she wouldn’t hypocritically force her children to apologize for something they didn’t do wrong.
Some parents always make their children apologize, regardless of right or wrong, just to avoid criticism from others that they don’t know how to educate their children and to save face.
This kind of education is not completely useless, but it’s meaningless.
It doesn’t allow the child to realize their mistakes fundamentally. They would make the same mistake again and would learn that simply saying "sorry" can compensate for everything.
Suizi’s suggestion that the children negotiate the matter themselves was taken by the woman as provocative and defensive.
Holding her chubby child, the woman wanted to argue with Suizi but retracted her words when she noticed Fan Huang sitting there. Gritting her teeth, she managed a fake smile and said sarcastically to Suizi:
"I’ve heard that you are not ordinary at all. Indeed, you ’know how to educate’ children. How incredible these two children will become when they grow up?"
Suizi could tell from her tone and sour words what the woman was insinuating: that her children would end up in trouble.
She almost blurted it out.
"You’d better take good care of yourself now, so you can see how successful my children will be in the future." Yu Jingting wouldn’t put up with such people and retorted.
The woman stood there awkwardly, suppressing her anger.
Yu Jingting clapped his hands, signaling his children to come over, and said cheerfully to the disgruntled Fan’s mother:
"I’ve come to realize that your words are indeed true. Having children at home makes it lively, isn’t it exciting?"
These were the words Fan’s mother had used to undermine Chen Lijun earlier, and Yu Jingting had twisted them back perfectly.
Fan Huang raised his eyebrows. He had reason to suspect that Yu Jingting had intentionally baited her, setting up this scene since the old lady started using her children to belittle Chen Lijun.
"Hurry and get the birth permit in the afternoon." Fan’s mother glared at Suizi for disrespecting her in front of the relatives.
"Are your eyes dry? I have some eye drops, do you want me to get you a couple of bottles?" Yu Jingting pretended to not understand.
"Oh, by the way, there’s another matter. This is Mei Rui, the daughter of your uncle Mei. She just transferred to your office. Have you guys met?" Fan’s mother decided not to squabble with Yu Jingting and redirected the topic to a portly woman sitting next to her.
"No recollection." Fan Huang genuinely didn’t remember. He was the head of the office with many employees. He couldn’t possibly know every single one of them; those of lower ranks couldn’t even enter his floor.
"She works in the Mail and Reception Room. You should look out for her. Mei Rui, your elder brother have a weak stomach and need reminders to take care of himself. You should join him for lunch at the cafeteria and oversee his meal for me."
The portly woman shyly glanced at Fan Huang and demurely lowered her head: "I can, but I’m afraid his wife might misunderstand."
"If she doesn’t care about him, would she stop others from doing so? Listen to your aunt, accompany your elder brother more. If he has to attend a Wine Bureau, go with him. —— Fan Huang, I think it would be great to transfer Mei Rui to be your secretary. She can take good care of you, and lend you a hand."
"So close? I guess this aunt weighs no less than 149 pounds, right? If she gets too close, I’m afraid she might crush my dad." Yu Jingting laughed heartily, and then extended his hand out, "Wife, give me five~"
Suizi high-fived him. See? What did he say? The old lady indeed came with a combination punch, both forcing birth and matchmaking. She didn’t guess wrong!
"How can you talk like this? Fan Huang, don’t you manage him at all? He talks without thinking, aren’t you afraid he would disgrace our family?"
Fan’s mother didn’t anticipate her little tricks would be unveiled so publicly. She could only file a complaint with her son.
"Jingting’s straightforwardness might be a bit excessive, but what he said isn’t wrong. If a single young woman starts following me around, it might damage her reputation."
"If the girl doesn’t mind, why are you making a fuss? Lijun, do you not let anyone get close to him because you can’t bear him? Is that the pressure you gave to my son?" Fan’s mother turned the tables, directing the conversation toward her.
Chen Lijun set down her tea cup after watching the drama unfold, smiling contentedly.
"Yes."
Fan’s mother: ...
"Puff!" Suizi couldn’t contain her laughter. Indeed, their queen managed to turn the tables on the old lady. With just two words, she had silenced the opposition.
