I am chasing a rough man in the 80s
Chapter 658: Meeting the Person You Don’t Want to See

Chapter 658: Chapter 658: Meeting the Person You Don’t Want to See

When they reached the hospital, Suizi was already asleep. Her fever was persistent, so the doctor had to give her an injection to lower it.

Yu Jingting held her, watching her crying like a child from the pain of the injection. She was hazy and kept crying out in pain in his arms, making the nurses laugh.

"Why is she still acting like a child even at this age?"

"In my heart, she can always be a child," Yu Jingting responded earnestly.

The single nurses suddenly felt a bit depressed, wondering why they couldn’t find such a good man for themselves.

Soon after the injection, Suizi’s temperature fell. The doctors said it was a heat stroke and gave her some refreshing medicine. Despite their suggestions, she refused to be hospitalized.

Yu Jingting had no choice but to wait with her in the Observation Room until her temperature dropped completely and then they would go home.

Suizi woke up soon after her fever broke. Her memory was fragmented, and all she remembered was crying in his arms, saying she didn’t want the injection.

She covered her face with her hand, wondering why a person couldn’t control their behavior when they were ill. It was so embarrassing.

"Your husband is truly considerate. All the nurses in our department were practically in awe of him," a passing senior nurse stopped to comment, laughing.

Suizi kept her hand on her face, feeling like her IQ dropped to that of a child each time she had a fever.

"Are you thirsty? Wait here," Yu Jingting said when he saw her with her head down. He thought she was thirsty due to the excessive sweating, so he stood up and went out.

"Where are you going? We didn’t bring a water bottle."

"Never mind, just sit down."

Now Suizi was left alone in the Observation Room. It was already late at night, and the room was eerily empty.

The window was open. As the night breeze blew in, Suizi looked at the swaying leaves and suddenly saw a head stick out from the window.

"Ah!!!" Suizi jumped with fright.

"Big sister, it’s me." Tongtong climbed in through the window. The room was on the first floor and the window was only a half meter above ground, so it was easy to climb in.

The last person Suizi wanted to see was him, but here he was again.

"What are you doing here so late?" Suizi noticed that he was alone.

"My mom is put up there." Tongtong pointed in the direction of the wards. "There are other grannies in her room, and they keep coughing, so I couldn’t sleep and decided to take a walk."

"Are you the only one looking after her?"

Tongtong nodded.

"My dad went out of town to work. He won’t be back until tomorrow. My dad is amazing, he can drive big trucks!"

Tongtong mimicked the action of driving.

Suizi looked at him. The child was very beautiful, with delicate features and looked somewhat like a girl. He resembled Suizi a bit.

She used to enjoy watching this child, seeing him was like looking at herself when she was young. But now, just looking at his face made her feel inexplicably anxious and she wanted to escape.

When Yu Jingting came back with a can of peaches and saw Tongtong there, his eyes narrowed.

"What’s he doing here— damn, I forgot."

He remembered that Tongtong’s mother was a patient in this hospital.

Although Yu Jingting didn’t know what was causing Suizi to feel so much pressure, it was likely to have something to do with this kid. If he had known, he would have chosen another hospital instead.

"Go back to where you came from, don’t stay here," Yu Jingting shooed Tongtong.

Tongtong was afraid of Yu Jingting, but he felt an indescribable affection for Suizi and really wanted to stay by her side, so he asked cautiously.

"Uncle, did I do something to upset you?"

"Calling her sister and me uncle? You brat, just your face pisses me off. Get out of here before I kick you out."

"Let it go, don’t be so harsh on him." Suizi saw that Tongtong was about to cry, so she tugged at Yu Jingting.

Yu Jingting glared at Tongtong. This brat had quite an attitude. Didn’t want to leave, was it? Well, he’ll make him regret it...

"Here, darling, have a peach. After you finish it, we can use the can to get water. Ah...," Yu Jingting scooped out a piece of peach using a new spoon, catching Tongtong’s awestruck gaze from the corner of his eye.

"Look at this canned peach, its translucent and juicy. Taking a bite, it’s utterly delicious."

He used this trick to taunt Jiaojiao when she was young. It always worked. No child could resist the temptation of food.

But Jiaojiao, having been deceived by her brother so many times, had learned her lesson. Tongtong, on the other hand, stood no chance against him.

Tongtong swallowed hard. His family had spent a lot of money on his mother’s medical treatments, so it had been a while since he had canned food.

Being a little child, Tongtong didn’t have the self-control of an adult. Being teased by Yu Jingting, he was drooling and swallowed repeatedly.

No matter how complex Suizi’s feelings were towards the child, she wouldn’t be so petty as to compete with a child like Yu Jingting. She took the can from him and handed it over to Tongtong.

"Hey! I bought that for you!" Yu Jingting tried to stop her, but Suizi shook her head.

"Let him have it, I don’t particularly feel like eating."

Without even waiting to say thank you, Tongtong started eating hastily, even drinking the syrup.

"Thank you, sister," Tongtong burped.

"I paid for it and you thanked her?" The more Yu Jingting looked at him, the more the kid annoyed him. For some unknown reason, he really wanted to punch him.

"Sister, are you coming again tomorrow?" Tongtong dared not look at Yu Jingting, hiding behind Suizi, holding onto the corner of her clothes.

"Dare you curse my wife to fall ill again?" Yu Jingting wanted to punch him again.

"I won’t be coming back again."

Suizi put her hand on Tongtong’s hand, hardened her heart, pulled his hand off her clothes, disregarded the child’s slightly sorrowful look, turned around, and left with Yu Jingting.

Suizi didn’t look back, but she really wanted to know what Tongtong’s expression would be right now. She could feel that the child was very attached to her, but she had a new life now and didn’t want to have anything to do with the past.

"Don’t look back, the kid already ran away. He has no manners at all. It was a waste to give him that can of peaches," Yu Jingting said irritably.

"Why are you competing with a child? It’s just a can of peaches."

"If you put it that way, then I really have to argue with you. What’s your relationship with that kid? You were so upset, you fell sick. Don’t tell me it has nothing to do with him."

"There’s really no connection. We just, just met recently..." Suizi couldn’t meet his eyes. Her face was full of guilt.

"Not saying? Okay, I know the location of his mom’s ward. I can go over, hood on my head, drag the kid out, give him a few punches, then tie him to a tree and kick him."

Yu Jingting pretended to leave. Suizi knew his temper. If he really decided to pick a fight, he wouldn’t care who it was. He would really hit someone if they crossed him.

"Don’t go over there, I’ll tell you—actually, I once dreamed of adopting this child, but I didn’t raise him right."

"That’s it?? What’s there to be upset about? Look at him, he doesn’t even know how to say thank you after eating a can of peaches. He’s obviously an ingrate. You should just let it go."

"Ingrate? No, that’s not true. He was very filial to me, but the other things he did made me feel very guilty."
