Chapter 600: Chapter 600: The Villainy Triumphs (Monthly Ticket 100+ Update)

The temperature was getting higher and higher these past few days, as if a fire was burning below.

Suizi was wearing a straw hat and fanning herself with a goose feather fan she had borrowed from a friend. She was listlessly leaning against a tree, asking the man under the tractor.

"Is it fixed yet?"

"Almost."

"Hurry up then, at this rate, I don’t know if we can catch the results announcement. We’re already about to enter the city, why did it suddenly break down?"

Suizi had gotten darker these past few days, despite wearing a straw hat. As for Yu Jingting, who did not wear a straw hat, his skin had darkened by two shades, making him look like he had tanned.

The two of them had been collecting junk... antiques along the way, basking in the provincial region; calculating if they could return home in time for the results announcement.

But before they entered the city, the tractor broke down on the side of the road.

There was no Repair Factory nearby, but thankfully, Yu Jingting knew a thing or two about vehicle repairs, having learned it from his previous master. He was now under the vehicle, fixing it.

"It must be your junk; you collected too much and crushed the vehicle." Yu Jingting complained.

At first, they could set up a tent in the tractor wagon, but in the past two days, all sorts of rusty junk, including a feed trough, had filled up the wagon. There was no space to set up a tent, so they had to look for a place to stay on the ground.

"This tractor was designed to pull bricks; this amount of weight can’t crush it. It must have been your reckless driving that broke it!" When no one was around, Suizi dared to argue back to him.

While the two of them were verbally sparring, the tractor was finally fixed. They started driving again, soon they saw several people standing by the road, waving their hands to flag them down.

"Where are you headed, folks?" Yu Jingting stopped the tractor to ask.

For people to flag down a ride in this area, they must have encountered a unique situation.

"We are going to the city to visit relatives, can you give us a lift?"

"Hop on." Suizi saw that these people were quite old and figured that standing under the sun must have been tough.

Upon asking, Suizi found out that these people were from Wang Family’s region, they were fellow villagers.

"Are you two collecting garbage?" Someone asked, seeing all the assorted items in the vehicle.

"Yes, we’ve fallen on hard times." Suizi heard Yu Jingting’s laughter and followed suit.

"Can you make enough profit for fuel by collecting garbage?"

"Just enough for porridge."

"I guess you two are from the city, why aren’t you working in the factory?"

The villagers loved to chat, especially to give life advice. No matter if you were from a city or village, they looked down on those who collected garbage suspecting them of not having a proper job.

They gave Suizi unsolicited advice until she was nodding off.

"Speaking of working in factories, all of us are pretty fed up. We thought of going to the city to seek help from our famous vagabond. Rumor has it that he’s established himself in the city and could arrange jobs for us. Many people from Yang Village near our village were able to get city jobs with his help."

"Um... The Yang Village’s vagabond?" Suizi suddenly found that name sounded familiar, she glanced at the man who was driving using one hand.

"We thought this vagabond’s luck erupted like his Ancestral Tomb, and he soared high to become a Factory Director. Who could have known he had been bewitched and quit his decent job as a Factory Director to do who knows what? His mother was a spirit medium years ago, but she has retired now. I guess it must be the family curse causing unrest in their household."

"Hey, some people, even if they wear royal robes, can’t become a prince. Dog meat can never be served at banquet tables. He was basically a vagabond; how high he falls from, how severe it will become."

Suizi’s face turned paler as she listened.

She had only been out for a few days, was Yu Jingting already being so badly slandered?

"You folks, since you are new faces here, does Factory Director Yu even know you? Are you just seeking him to arrange jobs?" Suizi asked, suppressing her anger.

"He doesn’t know us, but we all have consulted his mother earlier. I have even given her two eggs once. If not for his bewitchment, we would have definitely benefited—wait, how did you know his surname is Yu?"

"So, you are coveting his blessings and when you fail to avail any, you bad-mouth him. A good word can warm one for three winters, and a harsh word can chill one even in June. In this hot summer, you have given me goosebumps! Jingting, turn around!"

At this point, the tractor was already rumbling into the city.

The villagers should have gotten off the vehicle much earlier, but Suizi, in her anger, asked Yu Jingting to turn around.

"Hey, why are you turning around?" One of the villagers asked.

Suizi bit her lip, refusing to speak.

Yu Jingting turned the tractor around in a cloud of dust and brought it to the place where they had boarded, Suizi waved her hand.

"Everybody off!"

"Are you insane?" The villagers were angered by her. Is this how you play this game?

"No, we’re not insane, we’re bewitched. Get off, or we’ll beat you!" Suizi lost her temper.

Yu Jingting was happily watching her tantrum while chewing on a grass stalk.

If someone insulted Yu Jingting, he himself might not even bat an eye. But Suizi would certainly be angry.

Those people cursed and got off the tractor feeling like they had encountered a psycho.

"We pick up passengers, and when we’re almost at their destination, we turn back. Isn’t this insane—wait, what did she call that man?"

"Jingting... Isn’t that the vagabond?!"

Several villagers who realized what had happened wanted to cry but couldn’t. They had babbled in front of the horse’s head, no wonder that woman was angry.

"Will he use a slingshot to break our windows?"

"Before that, shouldn’t we first figure out how we’re going to get into the city? We are carrying loads of stuff; we can’t possibly walk there..."

On the way back, Suizi sat on the tractor, cross-legged and indignant, the more she thought about it, the angrier she got.

Using the feather fan to hit the cargo box, it sent feathers flying about.

"I’m so angry, ignorant! Uninformed! Being jealous of others even when there’s nothing to be jealous of!"

"Enough, they insulted me, and I didn’t even get angry. Why are you so furious? If you are bitten by a dog, would you bite it back?"

"Yes, I must bite back, even if I have to put on steel teeth, I will bite back, bah!"

"Save your steel teeth idea. When we get back, I’ll ask mom about them, next time when we return, we can take some time to break their windows. Don’t overheat yourself in such hot weather."

Suizi’s anger continued all the way home.

The folks back home already knew about Yu Jingting’s resignation, so the rumors must be even worse in the factory.

Suizi was holding her breath, eagerly waiting for the results to be announced, ready to blind these people who looked down on them.

But upon returning home, she found that things were even more lively than outside.

Even before entering the courtyard, she could hear Wang Cuihua’s voice scolding others.

Fearing for her mother-in-law, Suizi quickly asked Yu Jingting to go in and see what was happening, while she followed closely behind.

Inside the house, Wang Cuihua was pointing at Yu’s first wife and second wife and scolding them.

"Whether Tiegen is well or not in our house is none of your business. If you have the capability, you raise a capable son yourself! You are jealous of other’s shit!"

"Now, the fourth son’s wife, although we are not relatives anymore, considering we were once daughters-in-law of the same family, I want to advise you to be more open-minded. It’s not a secret that your son is bewitched and your daughter-in-law is possessed. Isn’t it good to go back to the village and farm?"

The joyful expression on the first wife’s face suggested she was taking pleasure in Suizi’s misfortune.

Yu Jingting walked in and saw this scene, raising an eyebrow.

"Is father not at home?"
