There were four sets of clothes in total. Suizi listened to Auntie Si chatting with her mom and learnt that from the time she called her mom for advice on clothes, her mom had asked Auntie Si to prepare these clothes.

"And it’s even this tacky gold color!"

"Mom, don’t you think it’s very luxurious?" Yu Jingting fought back.

"Just shut up, Mr. Nouveau Riche." Chen Lijun had the final say, taking off her own watch and replacing the one on Suizi’s wrist.

Suizi didn’t recognize the brand of Chen Lijun’s watch, but it certainly felt higher quality compared to hers and improved her appearance when worn. It must have been an imported piece.

"Isn’t it the watch Uncle Fan carefully saved up and bought for you?" Yu Jingting revealed.

"Are you inspecting everything? Just take it. I’ll make do with Suizi’s for a few days." Chen Lijun glanced at the gold watch on her wrist and grimaced, "Why do you two young people have the taste of someone twenty years older?"

"I am more than twenty years older than them, and even I wouldn’t wear a watch like this." Auntie Si chimed in.

"Mom, you used to be a simple working-class woman who went out digging wild vegetables to eat with me. How come now you’ve become so extravagant, even choosing what watch to wear?"

Suizi tried to salvage her declined taste by attacking consumerism.

Chen Lijun pinched Suizi’s cheeks, "Silly girl, if you can afford to eat meat, who would eat wild vegetables? Times have changed."

"She used to love drawing when she was a child, but how come her taste got worse as she grew older?" Chen Lijun complained.

"Maybe she doesn’t have the artistic gene since her dad is a simpleton, not an artist?" Auntie Si’s remark made Yu Jingting and Suizi exchange glances.

Chen Lijun’s eyes darkened momentarily, but she soon regained her usual expression and waved her hand at Yu Jingting.

"Go out and buy a pack of cigarettes."
