I am chasing a rough man in the 80s
Chapter 478: Encountering such a thing

Chapter 478: Chapter 478: Encountering such a thing

"Since you found out, I won’t hide it anymore. You’re right."

"...???"

Suizi never expected there to be such a shameless person in this world who would admit it himself.

"Since you’ve seen through the surface to my true nature, I have nothing to say. Naturally, I won’t engage in a loss-making deal with you."

"No, Jingting, let’s talk about it. How about reducing the time to half a month, or even ten days. Uh!"

The curtains in Director Chen’s office were drawn.

The door was locked from the inside. What happened inside could probably be known only by themselves.

That night, Wang Cuihua rarely saw her son and daughter-in-law having a conflict.

Correctly speaking, it was Suizi ignoring Yu Tiegen unilaterally.

Jingting was being incredibly attentive during the whole meal, offering Suizi food, but she ignored him, staying silent and giving him the cold shoulder from time to time.

"Did you piss her off again?" Wang Cuihua asked her son.

Yu Jingting innocuously responded.

"How could I? I just discussed some biological topics with her, about instinct and other scientific areas. She couldn’t out-talk me. Whose fault is that?"

Suizi blushed a little. She looked under the table to confirm the direction of his legs—last time she aimed for him, she missed and kicked her father-in-law multiple times.

"Huh, when did you become so motivated—biology and stuff, what is it?" Wang Cuihua asked.

"Well—" Jingting answered with a cheeky grin on his face. He playfully raised his eyebrows at Suizi. She added a piece of meat to his bowl—shut up, you.

Jingting thought the cold war was over, happily picked up the lovingly prepared food from his wife, but before he could put it in his mouth, Suizi kicked him in the leg. His hand shivered and the meat fell into the bowl.

"Got early-onset Parkinson’s?" Suizi took delight in his disarray.

"At your age, you’re still so clumsy, you should learn from Suizi. You’re not stable at all." Wang Cuihua was always on Suizi’s side.

Jingting nodded earnestly.

"I will learn not only from Teacher Xiaochen, but also from her tonight. Poetry, biology, all of it."

Suizi’s laugh stiffened on her face. She would never be able to face these once somewhat pure subjects again.

"Teacher Xiaochen, you will teach me well, right?" Jingting’s teasing tone made it difficult for Suizi not to think about the "biological instincts" discussed at the school that afternoon.

"Eat your meal!" Suizi, who couldn’t beat him in shamelessness, could only kick him again to show her anger.

"Sister-in-law, what is biology? I also want to learn."

"Uh—" Suizi blushed.

Jingting laughed even more cheerfully.

The others were confused, subtly sensing that Yu Tiegen was up to no good, but they had no evidence.

There was no volleyball game today, so Wang Cuihua went to her neighbor’s house after dinner.

The former Factory Director of the beer factory moved out, and his house was given to someone else in the factory to live in. That person was none other than Wa Gang, the quality inspector whom Suizi and Jingting suspected of colluding with the Ice Cream Factory.

Wa Gang’s mother was a few years older than Wang Cuihua and was a gossip lover. Wang Cuihua didn’t like to hang out with such people.

But Suizi suggested to her to interact more with the Wa Family during this time, so as to confuse Shen Liangyin and Wa Gang.

Wang Cuihua could only put up with it, pretend to be friendly, and bring some knitting yarn and knitting needles.

The Wa family had just finished dinner. Mrs. Wa didn’t expect Wang Cuihua to come over and quickly stood up to greet her.

"What brought you here? You’re the mother of a factory director, but you’re not at home watching your big screen TV, and preferred to come to our little hut to use the light?"

Wang Cuihua, as someone who had been around, pretended not to understand Mrs. Wa’s sarcastic remarks and just laughed, exposing a bag of knitting yarn.

"I want to knit a sweater for my husband. I’m not good at knitting the cable pattern. I saw the one your son is wearing, and it’s great. Can you teach me?"

"Oh, isn’t your son wearing one too? Why come and ask me?"

"That one was made by my daughter-in-law. I can’t communicate well with young people." These were the lines given to Wang Cuihua by Suizi.

To have Wang Cuihua gather information, there had to be some excuse.

Wang Cuihua was particularly skilled with her hands. She can handle all the knitting patterns she’s seen. The sweaters worn by the Jingting siblings were knitted by her. Suizi only managed to make a scarf for Jingting when she first returned.

To avoid arousing Mrs. Wa’s suspicion, Suizi deliberately came up with this dialogue. Unexpectedly, her words hit the mark; Mrs. Wa wanted to hear exactly this.

Hearing Wang Cuihua say she couldn’t communicate well with young people, Mrs. Wa’s eyes lit up.

"Cuihua, aren’t you and your daughter-in-law on good terms? I see you two laughing and talking every day?"

Wang Cuihua thought to herself, how could you hear our laughter behind closed doors?

So, she’s been listening for gossip from other families all this time?

Wang Cuihua sighed purposely without lifting her head, thinking about how to reply. In the script that Suizi gave her, there wasn’t supposed to be a question like this.

"Actually, you don’t have to say, I know it. How many of these young people truly respect their elders? They’re just pretending for their image."

Wang Cuihua muttered "bullshit" silently, thought of what Suizi had said, didn’t act on those thoughts, and pretended to nod in agreement.

Seeing her behave like this, Mrs. Wa felt that her words had hit home. Mrs. Wa looked at her son who was pretending to read the newspaper while eavesdropping. They exchanged glances and Wa Gang nodded.

He put down the newspaper and went outside for a breath of air.

Standing in the courtyard of his house, he could see his neighbors.

Suizi and Jingting’s West Room was next to their house, and they could hear the conversation. The West Room was dark at the moment, and the light in the East Room, along with the TV light, was flickering.

Wa Gang reassured himself.

Presumably, Jingting and his wife were watching TV right now, which made it convenient to talk.

So, he stood in the yard and gave a sign to Mrs. Wa. Mrs. Wa got the signal and immediately started her performance.

"Cuihua, there is something that I have been hesitant to tell you."

"What is it?"

"Your daughter-in-law has been talking badly behind your back, and what she said was... quite unpleasant. If my relatives didn’t know people at her workplace, I would never have thought that such a gentle-looking Suizi could say such poisonous words behind your back."

"Oh? What did she say about me?" Wang Cuihua asked.

Mrs. Wa lowered her voice and began to list them item by item:

"She said that you, at your age, are flirting around. When you were in the village, you were always flirting around and after moving to the city, even going out to buy vegetables, you’re making eyes with old men."

"What?!" Wang Cuihua’s anger flared, she almost flipped the table.

If it weren’t for Suizi’s admonition before going out that no matter what happened, do not have conflicts with them, she would take off her shoe right now and smash Mrs. Wa’s mouth with the sole of the shoe.

Seeing her enraged, Mrs. Wa intensified her efforts to add fuel to the fire:

"She said even worse things, oh, I can’t bring myself to say them, they’re just too unpleasant. I’ve been hesitant to tell you, afraid that you two would have conflicts. She said that your Jiaojiao was actually not your grandpa’s child!"
