A colleague from the Education Bureau came over with some people from another department in a hurry, wanting to confer with Suizi about an urgent matter.

An international inspection group had arrived and needed an on-site translation in D language.

Suizi is known amongst her peers for being multilingual.

The translator they had arranged fell ill unexpectedly. Afraid of stirring up trouble, the superiors thought of Suizi, their golden resource, and turned to her for help.

It was already 9 pm. The inspection group was about to arrive and they needed Suizi to come over urgently to deal with the situation and help with the reception.

Suizi naturally wouldn’t shirk such a responsibility. However, it was rather late and Yu Jingting was worried. He securely strapped their two children onto himself and tagged along with Suizi.

Suizi stayed at the hotel translating for the leaders, while he waited in an unoccupied area.

"Jingting, what are you doing here?" Du Zhong arrived and greeted Yu Jingting upon seeing him.

"My wife is inside." Yu Jingting pointed towards the building.

The hotel had been specially decorated for the foreign guests that day. The colourful neon lights reflected onto the empty street mirroring the current situation with Yu Jingting and Suizi. They appeared as if they were in two different worlds -- this was Du Zhong’s understanding of the scenario.

To Du Zhong, Yu Jingting seemed like a desperate man unable to keep up with Suizi’s pace, with his two children tagging along, a sight bathing in misery...

"Has your Little Luobo grown a bit?" Du Zhong stretched out his hand to tease the babies.

It was quite late, but the children showed no signs of sleepiness. They energetically kicked their legs in their father’s carrier.

Du Zhong had been constructing a factory nearby. The last time he saw the children was a month ago. Just one month apart, and the children had changed again. Their fair and chubby looks made Du Zhong envious.

"Eating and sleeping well is what makes them grow. What are you doing here?" asked Yu Jingting.

Du Zhong sighed.

"Don’t even mention it. My grandpa told me that amongst the inspection guys, there are a few formidable mechanical experts. I wanted to establish some connections and hopefully get some advice for our production line. But as you see...."

He couldn’t even get inside the door and had to lurk about, leaving everything to fate.

"Unless something unexpected happens, I will have to stick around here for the next few days. I’m clueless about if those experts will go out for a stroll..."

The most absurd part was, Du Zhong didn’t even know what the experts looked like. He couldn’t disobey his grandpa’s "strategic plan" and had to keep waiting here reluctantly.

"When my wife comes out, do you want me to ask her to help?" Yu Jingting’s suggestion made Du Zhong’s eyes glow, just right, he didn’t think of this connection before.

The two men waited outside for quite a while, and Suizi still hadn’t come out.

It was getting a bit chillier now. Worried about the children catching a cold, Yu Jingting got into Du Zhong’s car to wait.

Both of them kept an eye outside. As soon as Huang Mao came out, Du Zhong dashed out.

He spoke and gesticulated to Huang Mao, leaving him dumbfounded. It seemed like he was about to call security.

Du Zhong returned, beaten and disheartened.

He sat dejectedly in the car. He felt like having a smoke but dared not smoke in front of Yu Jingting’s children. So, he ended up sitting there, sullen and pulling at his hair.

"By the way, have you found out who tried to snatch your medicinal herb business last time?" To distract himself, Du Zhong brought up another topic.

Yu Jingting had previously stockpiled a batch of medicinal herbs. During stockpiling, he encountered another group also collecting herbs, so he asked one of his underlings to pose as a seller to find out who it was.

If he can’t be a father, at least a godfather could work out.

By now, Yu Jingting had gotten used to these kinds of requests.

Those who met his two children wanted to become a family through adoption, and the shameless ones even wanted to marry their children off to his.

Their neighbor, Old Wang, when he saw Luoluo, insisted on having Luoluo as his future granddaughter-in-law.

Yu Jingting cast a sidelong look at Old Wang’s snotty grandson. He almost spat contemptuously. This person dared to lay his hands on his precious daughter?

"Do you like my children that much?"

Du Zhong grinned and rubbed his hands together. While he did genuinely have affection for the children, he also had ulterior motives.

"Jingting, have you noticed that your two kids are especially lucky?"

"Everytime I come to your house and hold your children, I always win at mahjong when I get back. Last time, Luoluo peed on me and lo and behold, I got up and went straight for a grand slam. Have you ever seen a grand slam?"

That day, Du Zhong won so much that his hands were sore. In the end, he surmised that it must have been the effect of the child’s urine.

The next time he visited, he redoubled his efforts to hold the babies for a longer time—he wasn’t sure which child was the lucky one, so he held both just to be safe. As soon as he left Yu Family’s house, he started a game of mahjong and won again, just as expected.

"You’re just being superstitious." Yu Jingting responded nonchalantly, but in his heart, he admired Du Zhong’s keen observation.

No-one knew his children were born under a lucky star at an auspicious time, but this guy was able to figure it out just by observing. No wonder he could do business - his brain really was capable.

"Why so serious? Come, give your uncle a hug. This little plump girl, she’s so cute!"

Du Zhong picked up Luoluo, and showering kisses on her cute, chubby face.

Luoluo’s big eyes sparkled with spirit.

Du Zhong held Luoluo for a while but soon felt a stomachache. He got out of the car to find a toilet.

Yu Jingting, while playing with his daughter’s nose, said:

"You really are a lucky star. You managed to get rid of that annoying guy, giving your father, me, some peace. Wait, what?!"

Yu Jingting’s gaze swept across the road ahead, and his eyes widened in surprise.
