Even though Wang Cuihua didn’t tell him about the hardships she went through all these years, Siye could imagine how difficult it would be for a woman to raise two children on her own.

"You’ve been through a lot."

Wang Cuihua blinked away her tears and shifted her gaze towards the courtyard.

Jiaojiao was playing in the courtyard, periodically sneaking glances inside the house. Realizing that Wang Cuihua was watching her, the little girl busily pretended to be skip-jumping, acting like an innocent passerby.

Ten years, a long time but also swift.

The child who had once been in her belly had grown so big now.

Siye followed her gaze, and saw Jiaojiao waving at him, smiling gleefully.

Siye’s heart ached. This maiden was so lovely, his Daugther-in-law was so marvelous, but he didn’t know how to repay his family.

Suizi brought the children over and let them play on Wang Cuihua’s bed.

The children’s nap times had gotten shorter, and when they woke up, they would joyfully waved their chubby arms and legs around, cooing in a baby language no one could understand. The sight of such adorable children could alleviate any troubling thoughts.

After playing with the kids for a while, the heavy feeling in Wang Cuihua’s heart had lightened up a bit.

Finally, Suizi spoke:

"Mother, I’ve checked. He has no family over there."

"Why didn’t you say that earlier!" Wang Cuihua instantly relaxed, casting a resentful glance at Suizi.

"But, I think there’s more to it then just that." Suizi contemplated, Siye’s reactions were a bit off.

"Hmm?!" Wang Cuihua grew anxious again.

Did that bastard have a stream of pretty women over there?

"Our family reuniting is the best thing. But in reality, there are still a lot of problems to face, Siye has his business to run over there."

Even though the gray industry of gambling on stones was somewhat illegitimate, there was certainly money in it.

Before Siye and Yu Jingting left to bathe, he had slipped Suizi a stack of banknotes behind Wang Cuihua’s back without letting Yu Jingting see.

Just this act alone was enough for Suizi to understand several points.

Siye had noticed that Suizi was the actual decision-maker of the family and had the final say, so he sought to buy Suizi’s favor first. Dealing with Wang Cuihua or Yu Jingting would be much easier afterward.

Suizi hadn’t given it much thought initially. But the sight of the money triggered her curiosity.

She deduced that her father-in-law was probably in some predicament and couldn’t open up to Wang Cuihua and Yu Jingting about it. Excluding his possible infidelity, there was only one other explanation.

"There’s a high chance that Siye wants you to go with him but doesn’t know how to bring it up. He mentioned that he has a foster father over there and can’t leave."

Siye hadn’t had the chance to share his experiences over the past ten years, including how he ended up over there, but it was obvious. His current status wasn’t possible without the support of his foster father.

Given the circumstances there, leaving wasn’t an easy option.

"How can I possibly go with him? If anyone should leave, it’s him. He should leave from there and come back. This is his home."

Wang Cuihua didn’t hesitate in her refusal.

She had grown up in the north, she had her own relatives here, both Suizi and Yu Jingting had jobs and the two grandchildren needed to be taken care of.

"I don’t want you to leave either."

Suizi’s concern was not simply because Wang Cuihua could help look after the children.

The plates of food, once cooled and reheated, could never match their fresh taste.

Wang Cuihua lost her appetite. Using a feeling of unease as an excuse, she went back to her room to lie down.

Yu Jingting took a few angry bites, then seeing his little sister wiping tears, and his mother’s closed bedroom door, he slammed down his chopsticks.
