I am chasing a rough man in the 80s
Chapter 29: One Beating is Not Enough

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: One Beating is Not Enough

Li Youcai, who just regained a clear world for not quite two hours, then once again found everything blurry.

It was the same method with the sack, the same approach of directly ripping off his glasses.

When Li Youcai heard the sound of his glasses being trampled and shattered, he felt like dying on the spot.

His already struggling family was in a worse state, they had barely scraped together a little money to get a pair of glasses, and he only wore them for less than two hours before they were destroyed again.

After being beaten blindfolded with a sack, Li Youcai, swallowing his rage, dragged his battered body home.

The wall of the Zhang Family’s house was being built, a crowd had gathered outside, Li Youcai could not see clearly but he could hear Wang Cuihua ringing the tambourine and performing some exorcism.

As soon as Li Youcai heard Wang Cuihua’s voice, he got angrier.

He had given the pen, and given the money, he had followed her instructions about "sending away" Suizi’s spirit, why did he still get sack-beaten?

Enraged at the situation, Li Youcai hurried towards Wang Cuihua, determined to expose this fake witch in public.

The villagers all watched, the Zhang couple were full of piety.

"Li Youcai?"

The voice nearly extinguished half of Li Youcai’s anger. It was Suizi.

He turned around, squinting at Suizi. He didn’t get a clear look at her face, but he noticed something wrong.

"Where’s your hair?!"

Short-haired Suizi gave Li Youcai such a shock that he almost thought he was seeing a past-life Suizi.

"Yu Jingting cut it off." Suizi spoke halfway.

Li Youcai listened to her soft voice, immediately imagining the scene of Suizi being abused by Yu Tiegen. As a man, his instinct to protect her immediately rose.

"Is that brute Yu Tiegen abusing you?" Li Youcai’s hand balled into a fist, his face filled with anger.

Suizi lowered her head without speaking, this action alone gave Li Youcai endless room for imagination.

"Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, I won’t let him bully you!"

Wang Cuihua was engrossed in her performance, out of the corner of her eye she noticed a shameless fly buzzing around her daughter-in-law, she immediately jumping up with her tambourine and go over there.

"You’re doomed~~~" Singing this phrase suddenly would scare anyone to death.

All eyes fell on Li Youcai, Suizi immediately retreated behind her mother-in-law to distance herself from the jinx.

"Auntie Wang! Why are you cursing people?" Li Youcai was both scared and angry, reaching out to push Wang Cuihua away.

Wang Cuihua hopped around him, bobbing and weaving in front of him pounding her tambourine, singing ’you’re doomed’ back and forth.

Suizi was grateful that Li Youcai’s glasses were broken. If he could see clearly, he definitely would have noticed that she was having a hard time holding in her laughter.

If her mother-in-law hadn’t gone into comedy, it would have been a great loss to the comedy world. She was killing herself laughing.

Everyone in the village always believed whatever Wang Cuihua said. When they heard her say that Li Youcai was doomed, they started whispering amongst themselves.

"He does look like a jinx, look at the state he’s in after being beaten."

"Why did they beat him?"

"I heard he’s entangled with the Wang widow, several people have seen them together."

"He doesn’t behave even when he’s in the city, why else would a good high-school teacher not be able to keep his job?"

On hearing these rumors and gossip, Suizi felt surprised. Who had acted ahead of schedule?

She had indeed considered whether or not to spread the news about Li Youcai, feeling that doing so would be lacking in style, it seemed that someone had had the same idea?

Li Youcai heard everyone discussing him and was so furious he didn’t know what to do. He pushed Wang Cuihua hard, but didn’t even touch her clothes. He saw Wang Cuihua take several steps back and clutch her chest.

Li Youcai: ????

Did I even touch you? Why are you reacting like that?

Before he could even react, his collar was grabbed from behind.

He was yanked up like a little chicken by Yu Jingting.

"What did you do to my mother?!"

"Nothing!" Li Youcai protested bitterly.

He had the motive, but he hadn’t even acted yet. Who would have known his aunt-in-law could "turn things upside down" like this?

"I’ve been watching you from a distance, whispering with my wife, and hitting my mom?" Yu Jingting cracked his knuckles.

Seeing Suizi nearby, Li Youcai was reluctant to run away but was eager to save face and show his masculinity.

"We’re all civilized people, we shouldn’t resort to violence, let’s talk things out."

"Who said anything about no violence-" Yu Jingting suddenly kicked him away. Suizi keenly noticed his satisfied sigh of relief and couldn’t help but chuckle.

This must be frustrating for him to be seen as a sneaky attacker, right?

Taking direct action against Li Youcai was Yu Jingting’s creed!

"What are you doing?" Li Youcai groaned on the ground, as Yu Jingting stepped on his back, utterly triumphant.

"Can’t tell the difference between hands and feet? I kicked you, any problem with that?"

All that was missing was a victory sign to Suizi. "How do you like that pose from your brother?" Yu Jingting teased while still stepping on Li Youcai and giving Suizi a sly wink.

In the crowd, a beautiful young girl quietly gave him a thumbs up.

So cool.

A praised man started to lose control of himself.

What followed was a chaotic melee. Li Youcai was hugging the locust tree and took a beating without pleading for mercy, in an attempt to restore his image in Suizi’s heart.

He imagined himself looking rebellious and resilient in the moment.

But whether the onlookers thought the same way, he had no idea.

Wang Cuihua was cheerleading her son, even offering some guidance.

"Follow the rhythm, listen to the drum, don’t just strike aimlessly. Hey, granny said if you don’t hit him well, you will be cursed. Give it another go and listen to the rhythm!"

The crowd respectfully acknowledged her. Aunt four’s devotion to eradicating evil was indeed admirable.

The head of the Zhang family quietly instructed his wife.

"Hurry up and give Aunt Four a few goose eggs. She’s putting in all this effort all for us."

"Didn’t she say she didn’t want anything?" The wife was a bit reluctant. It took a long time to accumulate a few goose eggs, and she hadn’t eaten any herself.

"Just go when you’re told!" The husband looked at Li Youcai, who had been beaten to a pulp. When his wife went into the house, he spat on the ground. Don’t think he didn’t know about Li Youcai, the weakling, always flirting with his wife.

Maybe Aunt four couldn’t take it anymore and staged this act with Yu Jingting. Giving the goose eggs was worth it considering how righteously Yu Jingting handled the situation!

Li Youcai, hugging the tree, lost track of time, his head went numb.

He weakly looked towards Suizi’s direction, he did all this for her. She must be moved, right?

Raising his head, he saw Suizi obediently standing next to Wang Cuihua. Wang Cuihua seemed to be saying something to her, but Suizi kept her head down and didn’t make a sound.

This scene reassured Li Youcai. He was convinced that Suizi was having a hard life at the Yu’s, and she must be aggrieved.

Hang on, Suizi, I will save you!

Li Youcai silently made a vow to Suizi.

In reality, this is what Wang Cuihua had said to Suizi:

"In the future, steer clear of Li’s family, okay? Whoever gets close to Li Youcai will be in bad luck. His bad luck is so strong that even a good beating won’t get rid of it."
