I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -
Chapter 278: Thank you, I sincerely thank you
Chapter 278: Chapter 278: Thank you, I sincerely thank you
When Yu Jingting rushed outside, Wang Cuihua was already in a fistfight with someone else.
The one she was tangling with was none other than the wife of second uncle.
This was the first time Suizi had ever seen her mother-in-law getting physical with someone.
Most of the time, Wang Cuihua vented her frustrations verbally rather than physically, with harsh words rather than fists.
What on earth had prompted her to start throwing punches today?
Second Uncle just stood by, watching the two women claw at each other.
As Wang Cuihua was crashing his wife’s head into a tree, and upon seeing his own side at a disadvantage, Second Uncle stepped up to intervene, only to be sent flying by a swift kick from the newly arrived Yu Jingting.
"What the hell are you doing?" Yu Jingting pushed his mother behind him to shield her.
Suizi hurried over to examine her mother-in-law. There was a scratch on Wang Cuihua’s cheek, while Second Uncle’s wife had blood flowing from her nose, and a good amount of her hair had been ripped out.
It looked as if the opposition had taken the brunt of the damage.
That put Suizi at ease.
"Wang Cuihua! I warn you! If you don’t settle this matter today, I’ll dig up your husband’s grave! I’ll make sure he doesn’t rest in peace!" Second Uncle’s wife, looking like a shrew with tousled hair, raged in indignation.
Dig up the grave?
Suizi and Yu Jingting exchanged a glance. There was such a good thing happening?
Yu Jingting’s lips twitched, barely suppressing the wild surge of joy.
Just moments earlier, he’d been worried about how to find an excuse to move the grave. Now, someone was doing just that, and even voluntarily offering to do so.
"How dare you! I dare you to touch that grave! If you dare, I’ll kill you!" Wang Cuihua, protective of her late husband, slapped the ranting woman again upon hearing her outrageous threats.
Suizi waited for her mother-in-law to finish slapping before stepping in to intervene.
"Mother, go inside and cool down. Jingting and I’ve got this."
Suizi steered Wang Cuihua inside, signaled a look at Yu Jingting, and left him to handle the rest. Now it’s your turn, kid!
Yu Jingting stayed outside for awhile, and it’s unclear how he dealt with Second Uncle and his wife, but eventually he managed to clear them out.
Wang Cuihua was furious.
She gulped down a big bowl of cold water, but her anger still hadn’t subsided.
If Suizi hadn’t stopped her, she would have drunk more.
"Mother, calm down. What are they so pissed about?"
"They’re a bunch of envious creatures, jealous because they see our family making money!" Wang Cuihua exploded.
By using the tractor, Yu Jingting had found the key to wealth.
Now the whole village knew that he had paid off his outside debts, and his family was living well in the city.
Second Uncle was green with envy.
Due to a previous case where Second Uncle’s family had forced Wang Cuihua into fracturing a bone, leading to Suizi and her husband’s retaliation, Second Uncle’s family was left with deep emotional scars.
Although they had something on Suizi and her husband, their desire to make money couldn’t be controlled.
This time, their trip to the city had a clear goal: to create chaos and be prepared for everything to go to hell, believing that life couldn’t possibly be worse than it was. They would go all-in.
Second Uncle claimed that Suizi and her husband had made a midnight visit to their house and frightened the old lady into illness. He claimed that he and his wife had also been scared into having mental problems, and demanded compensation from Wang Cuihua.
If they weren’t compensated, they would dig up "Yu Jingting’s father’s" grave.
Only then did Wang Cuihua get into a brawl with them.
"No way. I have to go back to the village and guard it. What if they take advantage of our absence and go back to wreak havoc on your father’s grave? How should we deal with that?" Wang Cuihua couldn’t sit still.
She even considered setting up a tent next to the cemetery and threatening to fight anyone who tried to cause trouble.
Obviously, with such a childish idea, Suizi could not agree.
It took long time for Suizi and Yu Jingting to convince Wang Cuihua to give up on the idea of returning to the village.
"How did you manage to send those shameless people away?" Wang Cuihua asked her son.
"Nothing much, I figured they’re family too, and they’ve had it tough. I have a profitable job picking medicine which I’ve given to Second Uncle."
Wang Cuihua was so angry she stood up to slap her son, but Suizi was quick and promptly intervened.
"Mother, calm down."
"I can’t calm down! They’ve been a nuisance for too long! Yu Tiegen, you’re actually investing money to appease them?!"
"Then what should we do? If we don’t buy them off, are we really going to let them move the grave?" Yu Jingting shot a glance at Suizi.
After thinking for a moment, judging by his expression, Suizi wondered... was he planning something diabolical?
Wang Cuihua was so angry she slapped her thigh.
"If he dares to touch your father’s grave, I’ll dig up all the graves of the Yu Family and seal the tombs! I’ll ensure that their ancestors will never be reincarnated!"
Sealing tombs is a kind of folk superstition with no scientific basis, usually used to deal with malevolent spirits. The idea is to tamper with the cemetery so that the souls there cannot be reincarnated.
For Wang Cuihua to even mention sealing tombs showed just how important Yu Jingting’s father was to her.
Suizi finally managed to calm her down and then she and Yu Jingting retreated to their room to have a private discussion.
"Are you planning to make some mischief?" asked Suizi.
Yu Jingting lightly pecked her lips.
"How could it be mischief? I’m helping the Yu Family clear their ancestral tomb. Ergou was never a ghost of the Yu Family, burying him in the Yu Family Tomb was bad Feng Shui. The dead ones in the Yu Family ought to be grateful to us."
Suizi was not amused.
She did not want to be thanked by the ghosts. It was too scary.
"So, what did you really say to Second Uncle?"
"Just wait and enjoy the show."
Yu Jingting was keeping her in suspense, stirring up her curiosity.
It didn’t take long for Suizi to find out how mischievous her husband could be when he decided to make a move.
He had taken advantage of Second Uncle by putting him in charge of the medicinal herbs. Second Uncle truly believed he had some leverage over Yu Jingting, and was eagerly running errands for him.
If Second Uncle had collected the medicinal herbs dutifully, he could have indeed made some money.
But Yu Jingting had figured out his crooked mindset. Unable to resist temptation, he had arranged for a vendor to contact Second Uncle. The vendor offered a price 30% higher than what Yu Jingting was offering, but the delivery time had to be advanced by a week.
Second Uncle was triggered instantly. He cared little for Yu Jingting. His only aim was to make more money.
To meet the deadline, Second Uncle borrowed some money and hired people from his village and the neighboring one. He somehow managed to gather enough medicinal herbs by the agreed time.
But when he went to look for the vendor, the guy was nowhere to be found.
This had all been a trap set up by Yu Jingting. The goal was to saddle Second Uncle’s family with outside debt.
Without making any money, but with so much debt, and the loan sharks pounding on the door every day, Second Uncle found himself in deep trouble. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
Picking a dark and windy night, he took a hoe straight to the cemetery and started digging "Yu Jingting’s father’s" grave.
He secretly selected a spot rumored to have the worst Feng Shui, a place where you would never reincarnate, and quietly moved and sealed the tomb there.
He wanted Yu Jingting’s family to suffer bad luck.
According to superstitious belief, if an ancestor’s grave is sealed, the entire lineage would be jinxed.
Second Uncle was in for disappointment.
Not only did Yu Jingting not suffer any bad luck, but he also had good fortune.
The medicinal herbs in Second Uncle’s hands were bought by Yu Jingting at 60% of the price. Second Uncle had no choice but to sell – he could find no other buyer.
Yu Jingting had effectively cut down his costs, and removed Ergou’s grave from his family’s ancestral tomb, putting his mind at ease.
The young couple felt that they had killed two birds with one stone, and even considered sending Second Uncle a thank you note.
